I’ve always enjoyed these series. In fact, I used to watch Jassi like crazy. And one actress watching another’s serial religiously is quite something. But now I think it’s just dragging,’’ she says. Shweta, who’s busy hopping from one set to another these days, reveals that she loves nothing more than sleeping. ‘‘The two things I love are sleeping and painting!

Sleeping... well I did that throughout college!’’ she laughs. ‘‘Each time the blacklist came out in the college, my mother would get a complaint. My mother told them she knew exactly what I was up to — sleeping!’’ she chuckles.

Shweta is doing a film called Detective Nani where she plays the teenage lead. Not bad for a girl who wasn’t even thinking about a job in the industry. ‘‘This is such a pleasant switch from my call centre job!’’ she says.

Be it the wacky hairdo of Anvesha, the sensuous style of Tia, the high-energy of Ranvir or the attitude of Yuvi. In the city on a promotional tour, of the six months old soap, the cast had enough reasons to prove why they were indeed apt representatives of the remix generation.

Raj Singh Arora, who plays Yuvi in the soap is quite a Pune boy - a law graduate from Symbiosis, he still carries fond memories of the city and his eyes light up when he talks about the good ol days. “I’ve spend some of my best years in Pune. Although I was studying here, it was like a paid vacation for me. I still remember the Marz-o-rin lemon tarts and delicacies from Just Baked,” says he. A former VJ on Zee Music, Arora has this to say about his role, “I play this best-looking boy of the school, who has girls swooning over him, but cannot fathom the enigma called Anvesha.”

I play this sharp-tongued mischief-maker albeit with a good heart. While, I am a rock fanatic in real life, I get to play a rocker in the serial as well.”

Shweta Gulati, playing Tia in Remix turned down an offer from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, to join the serial. But Gulati had a tough time relating to her character in the serial. “I play the role of a snooty and self-conscious girl who wants to change the world around her. In real life I am quite carefree and least of all snooty,” she shares.

Karan Wahi, who plays Ranvir, too feels distant from the character he plays, “I am quite a brat otherwise, but in the serial, I am expected to be sober, silent and very much focused. It was tough, but I learnt the tricks of the trade soon,” says he.

Quite like their off-screen lives, the four main characters in Remix, hail from different backgrounds, busy working towards fulfilling their ambitions. Forced by circumstances to come together, the four finally form a music group called Remix.

Hey! This is an intervew of raj(yuvi)that i found in a magazine.Sry if it has been posted earlier.
Remix works mainly b coz of the amazing chemistry the foursome(yuvi,ranver,tia n anvesha)share.And theres no doubt that their off screen friendship permeates on screen as well.Raj whole heartedly agrees,"I think its fantastic.Its been 2 yrs n its only gotten better.Priya(wal)n i share grt on screen chemistry,shes a very comfortable actor 2 work with.Personally,we share a grt rappot coz on the set we r the only 2 people who have a common liking 4 books music n movies.Theres a constant exchange of ideas.Karan n me r best frnds.n We r as different as chalk n cheese.Hes into body building ,im into yoga.Hes into d video game parlour,Im a complete book freak.Hes into indian cinema,im into western cinema.Hes into hindi music,i prefer western.But thanks 2 him, i listen 2 a lot of bollywood stuff now.Shweta(gulati)n me dont work 2 much coz her scenes r primarily with karan.But shes very helpful.Sometimes when we r on an out door shoot,Shell get food 4 all of us.Generally too theres an emotional understanding b/w all of us,b it on or off screen."

Remix Round up!

With the news that STAR One's Remix is coming to a close, Remix fans have initiated a darna through a Signature rally, know what the stars themselves have to say about this issue!



The Shot to fame:
Remix coming to an end… What do you have to say about this?
Karan Wahi (Ranveer): I feel bad, especially seeing those really touching messages and mails from fans… That makes you feel worse as you are helpless and can't do anything about it!

Raj Singh Arora (alias Yuvi) Well, it is really shocking and unfortunate. We also don't want it to end. Hope it never ends! Hope we have it back, atleast for all those fans out there who have been supporting us so much.

Have you seen the signature rally on the indya forum?
Karan Wahi: Yes I have. Really sweet and must say, really moved by all that support and messages. Will sure miss you all! Hope we all come back.

Raj Singh Arora: Well, I did hear about it. It's amazing and thanks a lot for that support and encouragement. We hope we return back!

Life after Remix?
Karan Wahi: Well, haven't really thought about it. As of now Ranveer has done his job… It is time now for Karan Wahi to take a break. But I will miss the life at Maurya High.

Raj Singh Arora: Gosh! I really have no clue. But one thing is for sure… I will surely miss Maurya High and the Remix gang. It's going to be really hard missing it all!

Lessons from Remix?
Karan Wahi: It taught me a lot of discipline. But I am happy at the thought that I no longer might have to wake up early at 6:30 AM! (Laughs)

Raj Singh Arora: I always wanted to become an actor… But through Remix I learnt to love being an actor as well! It has thought me a lot of things in life. I am sure all of us enjoyed being here.

The One Question…
Many of them thought that Ranveer was given more prominence than Yuvi in Remix… What do you have to say about this?
Raj Singh Arora: Who said so? Yuvi was always there, silent but violent! Towards the end, especially after that election at Maurya High when Yuvi and Ashi were on the big fight! So I feel justice was done to all the four roles… No regrets at all!

About the Grand Finale…
Raj Singh Arora: To be really frank, the Director has kept it an open end as of now. So wait and watch!

The Designer's Cut!
Tanya Behl, the lady who can make you as hep as Remix's Ashi or as traditional as Chandni of India Calling was also in to give in her inputs about the show, the kids and her experience being with them!

Designing for a show like Remix… How was it?
To be frank, it did not seem much of a challenge then because when Remix started, people were not so style conscious especially when it came to being on the small screen and for a story based on school life, all that we needed was a style that was casual and one that everyone could relate to.

Memorable moments…
When I got calls from young girls asking tips on how to look like Tia and get their hair coloured like Ashi… I can never forget it! Infact, you won't believe it, many of them even came to the sets dressed like Ashi and Tia!

Your favourite on Remix?
All four of them - Ashi, Tia, Ranveer and Yuvi were a piece of cake. Ashi and Tia were my alter egos. So it made working with them really exciting and memorable.

I learnt a lot from them. The four were hard working and talented. I really adored the way they carried themselves… Both on screen and in their real lives.

They are hip, they are cool, they are happening — they are Remix! The popular new serial on Star One has already garnered a huge fan following with its unique storyline and endearing characters.

How did you get this role ?
Shweta (Tia ): I was already doing another show called Lipstick by the same production house Rose, so I guess they always had me in mind. I had to audition anyway and the funny bit is that I actually auditioned for Anwesha’ s role!
Karan (Ranvir): I was In Delhi busy in college with my BBA studies. However, I went in for the auditions that took place in Delhi and luckily I was selected!

How was life for you before Remix ?
Priya (Anwesha): Before, I was into sports and then I got into modelling. I have worked with quite a few fashion designers and that time I used to look completely different from my current red head image! I had curly shoulder length hair which was black!
Raj (Yuvraj ): I am a law graduate and after completing my education I got into showbiz. I had auditioned for the MTV VJ Hunt and have also done a couple of music videos like Kabhi aar kabhi paar.
Karan (Ranvir) : I was playing cricket and had hopes of becoming like Sachin Tendulkar someday. I was also into football and ironically enough I really hadn’t done anything much in the glamour world before Remix happened .
Shweta (Tia ): I have been doing serials for sometime. I have acted in Lipstick and Pardey Ke Peechey. Before this, I was working with a company called Aptech as their marketing head.

What are the similarities and differences between you and the character you play?
Karan: There are a lot of common factors! I’m as naughty and mischievous as Ranvir. I’m quite an intense person and also get angry very fast like Ranvir!
Raj: Nothing much in common other than my love for music. I’m also a DJ besides being an actor. I’m definitely not as rude as Yuvi and not that scared of my father also!
Shweta : I guess playing the role of Tia day and night I have become beauty and fashion conscious like her! But yes, I’m not a tantrum queen like her nor am I so spoilt!
Priya: I can be a bit wacky like her at times. I’m not so over the top and rebellious like Anwesha. However, I’ m as friendly as her.

Why do you think Remix has become so popular ?
Raj and Priya: Remix has worked because it is catchy, unique, with a fresh concept and people can relate to the characters and situation easily. It’s new and so much fun!

Do you think Remix can overtake the Saas-Bahu serials?
Sweta: Like the Maurya High motto goes “We Can And We Will!”
Karan: I don’t think you can compare Remix with the Saas-Bahu serials, after all we belong to completely different genres. They have been there for almost five years while we are just six months old. We both have our own audiences.

What is your message to readers of The Statesman Voices?
Raj: Be comfortable in your own skin and have faith in your abilities. Be a trendsetter and make your own rules.
Shweta: Whenever there’s a problem, talk about it. Communication is the best possible way to bridge the gaps between people especially with your parents.

Mumbai, June 19: WHEN Armaan and Jassi finally declared their love for each other, the producers at Sony Television decided to create a soundtrack to mark the momentous event. So, Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant crooned a love theme. Being a product of the channel, he was easy to get and paved the way for the ideal cross-promotional strategy. A video of the track and a full-length album of Jassi songs are in the works.

Rival Star Plus has been using music videos to boost their shows’ visibility for some time now. First came Remix—the video for the theme from the high school dramedy that centers around four boarding school kids, who just happen to have their own band. The idea was inspired by ‘‘underground rock bands at colleges like IIT,’’ says producer Shristi Arya.

‘‘Unlike other soaps that feature item numbers, the songs are actually performed by the cast and take the narrative forward,’’ she says. The producers have shot four more videos. The latest, Mast Mast, is currently on air on Channel [V]. The next couple of months will see Dil Ki Yeh Dadhkan and Love Station, a Bappi Lahiri retro-disco tune, hitting our screens.

Who looks after your finances?
Since I end up spending most of my earnings, there is hardly anything left for savings as such. But otherwise it's my CA who looks after my finances.

Don't you feel that you should save something for your future?
Yes, now I do think I must be saving something. I realised how important saving was when I saw that my friends have bought apartments whilst I am still staying in a rented one.

Have you made any kind of investments till date?
Yes, I have invested in insurance policies. It was primarily because my friend works in an insurance company. On his insistence I bought them. Besides I too felt that it's a good thing to do. In the next 30 years, when I might not be in a position to work but still would like to lead a similar lifestyle, such policies will help provide me financial security.

Have you ever thought of investing in stocks?
Yes, my father has asked me to invest in stocks. But I am a little skeptical about getting involved in it since my dad lost huge amounts in the past!

What about investing in real estates?

I carry about Rs 1500 to Rs 2000.

They are hip, they are cool, they are happening — they are Remix! The popular new serial on Star One has already garnered a huge fan following with its unique storyline and endearing characters.

How did you get this role ?
Shweta (Tia ): I was already doing another show called Lipstick by the same production house Rose, so I guess they always had me in mind. I had to audition anyway and the funny bit is that I actually auditioned for Anwesha’ s role!
Karan (Ranvir): I was In Delhi busy in college with my BBA studies. However, I went in for the auditions that took place in Delhi and luckily I was selected!

How was life for you before Remix ?
Priya (Anwesha): Before, I was into sports and then I got into modelling. I have worked with quite a few fashion designers and that time I used to look completely different from my current red head image! I had curly shoulder length hair which was black!
Raj (Yuvraj ): I am a law graduate and after completing my education I got into showbiz. I had auditioned for the MTV VJ Hunt and have also done a couple of music videos like Kabhi aar kabhi paar.
Karan (Ranvir) : I was playing cricket and had hopes of becoming like Sachin Tendulkar someday. I was also into football and ironically enough I really hadn’t done anything much in the glamour world before Remix happened .
Shweta (Tia ): I have been doing serials for sometime. I have acted in Lipstick and Pardey Ke Peechey. Before this, I was working with a company called Aptech as their marketing head.

What are the similarities and differences between you and the character you play?
Karan: There are a lot of common factors! I’m as naughty and mischievous as Ranvir. I’m quite an intense person and also get angry very fast like Ranvir!
Raj: Nothing much in common other than my love for music. I’m also a DJ besides being an actor. I’m definitely not as rude as Yuvi and not that scared of my father also!
Shweta : I guess playing the role of Tia day and night I have become beauty and fashion conscious like her! But yes, I’m not a tantrum queen like her nor am I so spoilt!
Priya: I can be a bit wacky like her at times. I’m not so over the top and rebellious like Anwesha. However, I’ m as friendly as her.

Why do you think Remix has become so popular ?
Raj and Priya: Remix has worked because it is catchy, unique, with a fresh concept and people can relate to the characters and situation easily. It’s new and so much fun!

Do you think Remix can overtake the Saas-Bahu serials?
Sweta: Like the Maurya High motto goes “We Can And We Will!”
Karan: I don’t think you can compare Remix with the Saas-Bahu serials, after all we belong to completely different genres. They have been there for almost five years while we are just six months old. We both have our own audiences.

What is your message to readers of The Statesman Voices?
Raj: Be comfortable in your own skin and have faith in your abilities. Be a trendsetter and make your own rules.
Shweta: Whenever there’s a problem, talk about it. Communication is the best possible way to bridge the gaps between people especially with your parents

The Remix actress has got herself a pet — a black Cocker Spaniel called Pheebee

Remix girl Shweta Gulati, aka Tia Ahuja, is not lonely now that Remix has gone off air. She's got a cocker spaniel for company. "She has become an integral part of my life. I have virtually stopped socialising. Recently, I did go out of town for few days, but that was the only time I left her with my maid. She is cho-chweet," she says.
It's a dog's life
Shweta has been a dog lover ever since she was in school. "When we shot at Kamalistan, there were many dogs there whom I used to feed. I even had them vaccinated. But I was never too sure if I wanted to have a pet."
Shweta made up her mind that she wanted a pet dog only when her friend Lata visited her on the Remix set with a pup. "Lata had bought a black and white Cocker Spaniel. He kept nibbling at my feet, and when I picked him up, I realised that he was so tiny that I could hold him in one hand. At that very instant, I decided to get myself a similar pet," she says.
Pet passion
From day one, Shweta has taken immense care of her new dog. She has been named Pheebee. "Priya Wal (Anvesha of Remix) suggested that I name her Timbo or Timbet. I had Pheebee in mind. I tried the three names and realised that she responded to Pheebee only."
Shweta particularly enjoys the way Pheebee welcomes her back home when she returns from somewhere. "She nibbles at my feet and starts running around me in circles," she says, adding, "Pheebee has become very possessive of me. If I talk to anybody on the phone for a long time, she starts jumping all over the place, demanding my attention."

The drama in ‘Remix’ will get hotter in the coming weeks. Shweta Gulati, who plays Tia Ahuja, the most popular girl in Maurya High School, will face tough competition from new entrant Rujuta Shah, who plays Shyla Seth. Shyla is as beautiful and bratty as Tia and will be making life miserable for her with her wily acts. Moreover, she will be setting her eyes on Tia’s heart-throb, Ranveer Sisodia (Karan Wahi), and try to ensnare him.

The drama in ‘Remix’ will get hotter in the coming weeks. Shweta Gulati, who plays Tia Ahuja, the most popular girl in Maurya High School, will face tough competition from new entrant Rujuta Shah, who plays Shyla Seth. Shyla is as beautiful and bratty as Tia and will be making life miserable for her with her wily acts. Moreover, she will be setting her eyes on Tia’s heart-throb, Ranveer Sisodia (Karan Wahi), and try to ensnare him.

Rujuta is excited about playing this crafty character, after a nasty experience in her first soap, ‘Ayushman’, where she was apparently treated badly, She is thrilled to play this femme fatale who is “a combination of brains, beauty and attitude”. She had been brought up by her mother and travelled with her all over the world on shoots etc. Her father, whom she doesn't like, sends her to Maurya as he thinks she needs proper education. She doesn't want to go but has to; as her mother would lose custody of her if her father took them to court. Also her dad doesn't allow her to appear in magazines with her mother which she resents.
She is always competing with her mother but by nature is much wilder and rebellious and alternate looking. Hates it when her mom becomes the centre of attention. And is really rude to her, but she obviously admires her mother and is fond of her in her own way. The one thing that she absolutely loathes is her mother calling her by her nick name "mumum". She asks her friends to call her "Ashi" which is hipper. She hates her father who left them but still wants control over her life. Sonia had married Arunab at the early stages of her career but as she became more successful, Arunab and she started having problems. Anvesha has been with Sonia since she was too young and needed her mother and now she hates this man who didn't have time for her when she was growing up.

Story
The Principal of Maurya Mr. Jambwal had an affair with young Sonia before she stepped into show biz, he still has a soft corner for her and lets Anvesha join the school. She is sent to the summer camp before school starts so that she can be judged and seen if she fits in.
Anvesha is having a tough time putting up with the snooty Tia and the dangerous Yuvraj. They think that she is the one printing sneaky bulletins about their secrets and decide to punish her. Yuvi pushes her in the lake to teach her a lesson and she in turn decides to spoil his fun by telling him that his dad is corrupt, Yuvi is really angry at her lies and decides he'll teach her a lesson.
At the camp, Yuvi catches her in a lonely spot and threatens her; she gets scared for the first time and runs away from him by calling her mother and telling her to take her away from here. She tells the Principal that she has an asthma problem and leaves.
Back in school she moves in with Maria Priya and Vrinda, and Tia now has Meher and Pri with her. Anvesha likes Vrinda but gets angry with her at her non-controversial stands. And the fact that she hangs out with that brainless Tia. Even in school, everyone still thinks that Anvesha is the one writing those sneaky bulletins but Ranvir takes her side.
The journo friend of hers digs up some dirt on Yashwant Dev and asks Anvesha to pick up a letter which has the details. When Anvesha goes to town to collect the letter she is met by not only a letter but also a little kid.

Unexpectedly She was given the role of Tia Ahuja in the hit StarOne Serial, Remix. She had gone for an Audition with her cousin brother, they asked even her(Shweta) to give it a shot. Later she was shocked to know that she was selected and didn't know what to say when they asked how much she would charge.She had to go through voice training for the role, to speak like a 18 year old.
She’s one of the first stars to outrightly decline an Ekta Kapoor offer. "Saas-bahu characters are boring and storylines stale. I don’t want to be stuck in a never-ending saga" she says boldly.

Out of the 32 entries in the dramatics category, St Mark's was awarded a special prize by Dayaprakash Singh, IAS, former Director of 'Sangeet Natak Academy' for their praiseworthy performance in the English Skit 'Identity' . They also featured among the best six to be nominated as finalists. The play highlighted the three phases in the life of an Indian woman – daughter, wife and mother and how she seeks her true identity.

The students' discipline, tenacity and competitive spirit were put to test during their week long stay at CMS from April 11 to 17. On the whole, it was an enriching experience, which will linger in the memory of the entire team.

Twinkle...all set to sparkle...again!


After a controversial elimination of some of the biggies of tellywood from SAB TV's Twinkle Beauty Parlour, the show is finally ready with its oven fresh starcast which includes the likes of Chavvi Mittal, Dimple Inamdar, Sakshi Talwar and Seema(fresh face).
The story will revolve around four girls who come from different backgrounds and start working in the parlour along with Sulbha Arya (Fatima B).



Chavvi Mittal:Happy to play a journalist
Chavvi Mittal post Tumhari Disha has been busy with her husband's film (Kaise Kahain) in which she plays a cameo is all set to play a journalist who also works in the parlour.
"My character has different shades and I get to play various disguises as a journalist. It's a colorful character who is a smart, mature and intelligent person and people look upto her at the parlour as she is good at what she does," says Chavvi who will have a kurta and jeans look in the show.
So we ask her how did she bag the role of a journo after playing docile and homely bahu…
"I heard the script, liked it and thought I must go for it. I am being offered a host of shows but I chose this role because I wanted to work with the production house as it has a good reputation. And being a part of a show which is being revamped with a fresh starcast so it's not like being a part of an on-going show," smiles the actor who is all excited to shoot for Twinkle... after a well deserved break.
The actors will shoot for the promo on 15 July while the shooting will commence the day after on a new set. The re-vamped show is scheduled to go on air from 24 July.



Dimple Inamdar: Playing a lady in distress!
Dimple Inamdar plays the character of a young girl who is not getting a match due to her dark complexion and lack of dowry.

"I play this simple girl who stays with her uncle and aunt and is ill treated by them who think of her as a burden and Sulbha Arya hires me to work in the parlour. Soon I get married to an NRI but continue to work in the parlour. The role is so different from what the parallel leads, cameos and the other roles I've done so far and will have a simple, deglamorised look," says Dimple who has now two women oriented shows in her kitty (Sati and Twinkle...)

Sakshi Talwar aka Vrinda of Remix plays a bubbly delivery girl in the show.
"I play the youngest of the four characters who is loved and protected by everyone
Sakshi Talwar:All set to play a delivery girl
in the parlour. I don't work in the parlour but I am an aspiring beauty queen so I hang around in the parlour to learn beauty tips. Also I bond well with all the girls in the parlour and I deliver the parlour stuff to the people," says the cute young thing who will have a traditional look in the show similar to her Remix look.
Not much is known about the fourth girl but the actor (Seema) is a fresh face and has done a cameo in India Calling.

Twinkle...all set to sparkle...again!


After a controversial elimination of some of the biggies of tellywood from SAB TV's Twinkle Beauty Parlour, the show is finally ready with its oven fresh starcast which includes the likes of Chavvi Mittal, Dimple Inamdar, Sakshi Talwar and Seema(fresh face).
The story will revolve around four girls who come from different backgrounds and start working in the parlour along with Sulbha Arya (Fatima B).



Chavvi Mittal:Happy to play a journalist
Chavvi Mittal post Tumhari Disha has been busy with her husband's film (Kaise Kahain) in which she plays a cameo is all set to play a journalist who also works in the parlour.
"My character has different shades and I get to play various disguises as a journalist. It's a colorful character who is a smart, mature and intelligent person and people look upto her at the parlour as she is good at what she does," says Chavvi who will have a kurta and jeans look in the show.
So we ask her how did she bag the role of a journo after playing docile and homely bahu…
"I heard the script, liked it and thought I must go for it. I am being offered a host of shows but I chose this role because I wanted to work with the production house as it has a good reputation. And being a part of a show which is being revamped with a fresh starcast so it's not like being a part of an on-going show," smiles the actor who is all excited to shoot for Twinkle... after a well deserved break.
The actors will shoot for the promo on 15 July while the shooting will commence the day after on a new set. The re-vamped show is scheduled to go on air from 24 July.



Dimple Inamdar: Playing a lady in distress!
Dimple Inamdar plays the character of a young girl who is not getting a match due to her dark complexion and lack of dowry.

"I play this simple girl who stays with her uncle and aunt and is ill treated by them who think of her as a burden and Sulbha Arya hires me to work in the parlour. Soon I get married to an NRI but continue to work in the parlour. The role is so different from what the parallel leads, cameos and the other roles I've done so far and will have a simple, deglamorised look," says Dimple who has now two women oriented shows in her kitty (Sati and Twinkle...)

Sakshi Talwar aka Vrinda of Remix plays a bubbly delivery girl in the show.
"I play the youngest of the four characters who is loved and protected by everyone
Sakshi Talwar:All set to play a delivery girl
in the parlour. I don't work in the parlour but I am an aspiring beauty queen so I hang around in the parlour to learn beauty tips. Also I bond well with all the girls in the parlour and I deliver the parlour stuff to the people," says the cute young thing who will have a traditional look in the show similar to her Remix look.
Not much is known about the fourth girl but the actor (Seema) is a fresh face and has done a cameo in India Calling.

It's extremely sad to see a dress code existing in colleges. There shouldn't be any dress code in the first place. No girl will turn up in a bikini for sure! This is the 21 century, high time we grow up. And the worst thing is that when the authorities claim men get instigated when women wear revealing clothes. It's like excusing them. We need to stand up for our rights!

Call it cashing in on adult humour or stuffing corny dialogues, but SAB is now readying its new prime time show, Ishq Ki Ghanti, which goes on air later this month. This weekly sitcom essentially traces the lives of three unhappily married couples.

While the women indulge in endless husband-worshipping, the men seek greener pastures outside their home. Says creative director Charu Singh, “We have a lot of double-meaning dialogues. But it’s not so blatant that kids can’t watch it. It’s our attempt at reviving fresh comedy.”

Masti hangover

Talking about the characters, the dichotomies are tremendous and that makes up for the conflict. The problem plaguing the marriage of Ballu (Asif Sheikh) and Titlee (Sonia Kapuur) is a headstrong and Hitler-inspired Titlee. She doesn’t let her husband even rub shoulders with her.

On the other hand, Laxmi (Shubhavi) keeps herself busy with religious discourses and hardly spends time with Venky (Rajesh Balwani).

On top of that, Laxmi’s mother (played by Sudha Chandran) also doesn’t spare her son-in-law from her words of wisdom on improving their marriage.

While Sweety (Ada) is over-enthusiastic about everything, Deepak (Gaurav Gera) prefers to be spiritual and calm.

Says Gaurav Gera, “This is the first time that I’m going to play a husband on television. So far, I have been a bachelor on my other shows.” He adds, “After being turned away by their wives, all three men are looking for an easy catch. However, their plans to impress other good-looking women always fall flat.”

Cameo central

Adds Shubhavi, “I play the God-fearing Laxmi. She’s so preoccupied with her religious rituals that her marriage suffers. It’s so much fun to be a part of a sitcom.”

The show will also see other actors including Urvashi Dholakia, Swetta Keswani, Tina Parakh, Shweta Gulati and Aamir Ali making a cameo in each episode.

After a sabbatical, the actor is doing a musical comedy play with Aamir Dalvi, Prithvi Zutsi and a few more renowned names from the theatre world. The play has been christened as Kkk…Kiran and will be directed by Mihir Bhuta (who scripted Chanakya and Aflatoon) and produced by Sanjay Bhatia.
"I play Kiran who becomes a mannequin by mistake and the story unfolds of how I turn into one. The play is full of suspense, comedy and music. It also deals with my past and how in the present I come back to life. The mannequin I play is in a shop based in Nainital and I am made to wear the best of clothes in the shop so I will have a very modern look in the play," smiles the actor who started rehearsing for the play from ten days back (17 July). Kkk…Kiran will premier on 6 August in Mumbai and will travel to Aurangabad, Pune and Hyderabad in August.


How did she bag the offer and how's been the experience so far?
"A girl from Rose Productions suggested my name to Sanjay as I was interested in doing theatre and thereafter everything fell into place. I got the offer three weeks back and have been rehearsing day and night ever since. Theatre is an exciting medium as we get a live audience, there are no re takes and we have to be well prepared for everything in advance and needless to say I am jittery about the play," chirps an excited Shweta.

The actor plans to take up interesting work on television post September, so till then theatre and ad films should keep her smiling

Shweta Gulati: From playing perky Tia to mannequin Kiran


Shweta Gulati best remembered as the stylish and perky Tia Ahuja in Remix is all set to experiment with theatre. After a sabbatical, the actor is doing a musical comedy play with Aamir Dalvi, Prithvi Zutsi and a few more renowned names from the theatre world. The play has been christened as Kkk…Kiran and will be directed by Mihir Bhuta (who scripted Chanakya and Aflatoon) and produced by Sanjay Bhatia.
"I play Kiran who becomes a mannequin by mistake and the story unfolds of how I turn into one. The play is full of suspense, comedy and music. It also deals with my past and how in the present I come back to life. The mannequin I play is in a shop based in Nainital and I am made to wear the best of clothes in the shop so I will have a very modern look in the play," smiles the actor who started rehearsing for the play from ten days back (17 July). Kkk…Kiran will premier on 6 August in Mumbai and will travel to Aurangabad, Pune and Hyderabad in August.


How did she bag the offer and how's been the experience so far?
"A girl from Rose Productions suggested my name to Sanjay as I was interested in doing theatre and thereafter everything fell into place. I got the offer three weeks back and have been rehearsing day and night ever since. Theatre is an exciting medium as we get a live audience, there are no re takes and we have to be well prepared for everything in advance and needless to say I am jittery about the play," chirps an excited Shweta.

The actor plans to take up interesting work on television post September, so till then theatre and ad films should keep her smiling

Mumbai: Twenty-four-year-old TV actor Habib Mithiborwala is proud to be standing on his feet and playing cricket at home. Nothing exceptional about it?

The actor has had more than two dozen surgeries and had 60 per cent of his leg muscles removed so that his leg could be saved from amputation.

Habib's ordeal started when he passed out inside his car for more than 12 hours during the Mumbai deluge on July 26, 2005.

He woke up the next morning only to realise he suffered from something called the compartment syndrome which parlaysed the lower half of his body.




Compartment syndrome is the compression of nerves and blood vessels within an enclosed space, which could lead to impaired blood flow, muscle and nerve damage.

"I cannot feel anything below my knees but even then I drive a car and play cricket," Mithiborwala said.

The incident has made the actor bid a temporary farewell to his television career and now he handles his father's timber business.

"In showbiz if you're away for long then people don’t remember you," Mithiborwala said.

A quintessential Mumbaikar, a smile never leaves his face as he gets along with his life content with his belief that everything happens for a reason.

"There is nothing impossible. Even in impossible things there is some bit of possibility," Mithiborwala said philosophically

For Shweta Gulati and Priya Wal it’s time to relax before they make their next career move as Remix has ended. Priya certainly agrees with the unwinding bit because she says, “After two years of working non-stop it’s time to relax as much as possible before I think of doing anything new. Since it was my first serial I had to work very had on my role.”

She was a national level tennis player before she ventured into the world of modeling and glamour. No, she is ready for a break. “I just want to relax and play tennis before anything good comes my way. I am looking at some ideas and roles with an open mind.” But she doesn’t have a definite idea about what she exactly is looking for. The only thing she is sure of is, “It has to be new and fresh, something that will appeal to me.”

If Priya walked into Remix with some modeling experience behind her that gave her the confidence to emote before the camera, Shweta had to her credit daily soaps like Shagun and Lipstick before Remix happened. “I have enjoyed all the roles I have done but Tia is my favourite,” smiles the young actress who had also anchored Parde Ke Peeche on Star Plus.

“Experience teaches you a lot but I take every role as a fresh challenge. I had great time playing Tia.” Unlike Priya, Shweta can’t afford to take a complete break because she has moved on to theatre and will be debuting on stage in a musical comedy called KKK...Kirann that will premiere on August 6 in Mumbai. “I play a mannequin and the play deals with how I come to life,” she adds.

Currently busy with rehearsals, Shweta says the stage is a completely different world. “Not that one doesn’t have to work hard on TV but theatre is harder. The people are different, temperaments vary and there is lot more commitment to work as compared to television,” says Shweta who describes herself as a lazy person. “Not only am I lazy, but I also love to sleep like a log. Since I missed out on my sleep for the last two years I am going to sleep a lot and spend time with my dog Phoebe.”

Shweta loves to party once or twice a month with a bunch of her friends. “Ours are nice and decent parties. We don’t go overboard,” she clarifies. As far as relationships go Shweta says she did not have the time. “But now that I have the time I am going be looking for some nice guy,” she laughs.

Shweta fans don’t, worry she isn’t thinking about ignoring the camera. Though a bit busy with her play, she confesses, “I can’t do without the camera for more than six months. I have to get working before I get bored. But it’s got to be something bigger and better than Tia.”




Rajsingh sails in from one hit soap into another


After playing one of the leads in Remix for two years, Rajsingh Arora has moved on to another popular daily that may give him more name and fame. Arora is the latest addition to the cast of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. “I think it’s the right show that has happened at the right time,” gushes the actor who is equally happy with the fact that he has bought a house for himself in suburban Mumbai.

What makes Arora even happier is the fact that buying a house in land-starved Mumbai where property rates have risen to dizzying heights in the last four years is as big an achievement as making it as a popular television star. “It’s not easy since the rates are so high,” admits Arora whose father is in the US and mother in Jammu. “Ever since I came here to become a video jockey I have wanted to buy a nice and comfortable house for myself. Finally I have done that.”

After he finished shooting for Remix, Arora took a much-needed break. “I got the pooja done and moved into my house in Kandivali. After I settled I watched a lot of movies and enjoyed Mumbai’s rains, which are really beautiful and romantic. You can really enjoy the rains if you are free from work,” he says. Probably he would have preferred a longer break had he not got a call from Balaji for Kahani.. “I was excited at the offer,” says Arora who plays tycoon Suyesh Mehra’s son Ashutosh.

“It’s a prominent, important character. Ashutosh is a sweet and nice guy, who is the opposite of his brother Nikhil who is a rebel. Ashutosh has returned from London and his entry in the show is going to make a definite change in the lives of the main characters as well as in the story.” Arora says he always wanted to work with Balaji. “It’s the biggest and most successful production house in the country. It’s a place where there are a lot of opportunities to achieve and excel,” says the actor.

The Balaji camp is all set to add a new K to its kitty. The show in question is Kasturi (as the tentative title goes) inspired by Yash Chopra's yesteryears' romantic hit Silsila. Sources reveal that the upcoming serial will go on air by the end of August.


Amit Dua,is slated to play the second lead
While Balaji is still hunting for it's male lead, whose character name is Garv, a source from the production house reveals that Pallavi Subhash (Preeto from Tumhari Disha) has been penciled in to play the title role of Kasturi. Apart from Pallavi the other actors who've been signed on are -Amit Dua (Sameer of Kyunki…) is slated to play the second lead, Jatin Shah (SaharaOne's Saath Rahega Always), Vinay Jain(Remix fame), Salil Ankola, model turned actors Rahul Jagtiani and Muzamil Akhtar.


Salil Ankola too is a part of this mega soap.
"I play Aryamaan, a business tycoon. I am Salil Ankola's younger brother, who is very individualistic and a strong willed guy. Both of us just cannot see eye to eye in the serial and are always at loggerheads with each other," says Vinay Jain. He further says, "I've just signed on the show a few days ago and we start shooting next month in Kolkatta. I am very excited about the rich look that I have in the show."

When contacted, Pallavi was reluctant to reveal much about her character. She said, "A model co-coordinator had forwarded my portfolio to Ekta. She liked it and asked me to give a screen test. However, things are still in their initial stages and I've yet to sign on the dotted line."

Though Silsila, the Bollywood flick was all about love, romance, marriage and adultery, as per our source, but Kasturi's story is much more complicated. The show will probably have four male characters and one protagonist, with various different plots weaved in. Apart from this, the serial will also be garnished with the usual Balaji tadka.

Well, lets hope the mega soap breaks away from the prime time clutter!.

Karan Wahi, the Remix heartthrob who was being considered as the protagonist for Balaji's new show Kis Rishtey Se has reportedly turned down the offer! The lad was offered this new soap a few weeks back and was given time to think over. He finally reached a decision after mulling over the offer for a week.

Balaji all set to launch Kis Rishtey Se


The K factory (Balaji Telefilms) is all set with the starcast of its new show Kis Rishtey Se (KRS).


The show promises a great lineup of actors and the audience will see a few surprising faces too!

Panchi Bora (remember the lead of Kitni Mast hai Zindagi on MTV?) has been nailed down as the main protagonist of the show and the story revolves around her. While Shabbir Ahluwalia will play one of the male leads, the production house is still looking for the second one. Karan Wahi was offered the role earlier, but he turned it down as he desperately needed a break after continously doing Remix for Star One.

The audience is in for a major surprise as Supriya Pilgaonkar has been pencilled in for the show (playing Aarti). Ronit Roy will be seen portraying her husband (Inder).


He is currently doing two Balaji shows, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi and Kasautii Zindagi Kay.

Ipshita, the creative head for KRS says, "The story of this soap is about two families, Goinka's and Sherigill's." She adds, " More or less things have beenfinalized, only the actors have to be decided for the other house (Sherigill's- which belongs to the male protagonist)."

Apart from these boosters, Neena Kulkarni, Aaliya, Gaurav Gupta, newcomer Roshmita, will add more spice to the show.


Ipshita adds, " We haven't started shooting as of now, but it will happen soon."

The show is slated for the 10.00 p.m. slot on Star One and Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka will be pushed down to the 10.30 p.m slot.

KRS will certainly stand out amongst the other Balaji shows gushing in. The reason being Panchi Bora makes a comeback and Supriya enters the Balaji camp! And if this is not enough, Ronit and Shabbir 's charm will definitely strike the chord. What say?

One of the biggest reality show franchises, Big Brother, is now coming to Indian shores. For those of you who are unaware about the show’s popularity abroad, one look on the Internet and you’ll find numerous websites devoted to fans of 32 different versions of the series, broadcasted in countries across the world.
Names kept secret

Changing Big Brother to Bigg Boss, Sony has got the show to India through the production house Endemol. The planning for this reality show has been on for months, with the task of selecting 13 participants being the most tedious.

The challenge was to find individuals ready to give up their freedom to be locked up in a house under constant surveillance.

The channel is tight-lipped about those participating on the show, and even the contestants have signed a confidentiality agreement refraining them from talking about their participation.

In the dark

However, a source working on the show spilled the beans revealing the names of some of the confirmed candidates. He said, “Rakhi Sawant, Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kissen, Karan Wahi and Vinod Kambli are some of the confirmed names.


We had a major problem finding celebrities who have the time and willingness to sit in a house for three months. None of the contestants are aware about who else is going to be in the house with them. They’ve all been kept in the dark about the other competitors.”

Rajesh Kamath, MD, Endemol, who is producing the show, gave details about Bigg Boss’ format. He said, “We will have 13 contestants who will be put in a house for three months. They will be given a daily and a weekly task, on completion of which they earn money. Apart from basic groceries and money, they won’t be given anything else. No mobile phones, television sets or newspapers will be allowed in the house.”

Unlike the international version, the Indian format will be edited and censored. “Keeping the viewers’ sensibilities in mind, there won’t be any nudity on the show. The episode isn’t live but deferred by a day. We will edit whatever footage we get and then broadcast it.”

Stating that they would indeed take a voyeuristic approach like the international format, he added, “We will show two people getting into a bedroom, but what happens after that will be left to the viewer’s imagination.”

Making choices

Sandiip Sikcand, chief creative director SET, said, “It’s a ground-breaking format. Indian television hasn’t seen anything of this sort before. We have shortlisted 40 people, and will soon make the final choices.”

On the issue of editing and doing a delayed live, he said, “The editing will be very mild. The viewers will get to watch most of what happens as it unfolds in the house.”

He also added that the show is likely to go on air in the first week of November, and will run for a duration of three weeks. The location of the set where the house will be constructed is being kept a secret from the contestants as well.
