Firstly Great job to the entire team of Neeya Naana and the face we all see Mr. Gopi.

My feedback on the Teachers Vs Students episode is that Gopi was too harsh on the teachers. In a Students Vs Teachers show it was harsh to tear the teachers apart. It encourages the students who are unruly to do things more.

For students its an enjoyment period and teachers have to put up year after year for meager pay. Though Gopi said that Teachers have their own issues and should be discussed in a future show it was unfair to ask them questions on their reading habits.

If the set of Teachers selected were a good mix of highly paid university teachers and others, I am sure you will find that highly paid university professors and lecturers are very well read. I went to an engineering college ( not among the Top 10 in Tamil Nadu ) , yet most of my professors were voracious readers.

Its time vs money vs stress levels vs motivation equation. You pay them well and find good teachers who come to work for their passion and not to find a job, you will find well rounded teachers.

Yet the teachers who were not well read in your show, I am sure are putting their best foot forward to do the job they have taken up. I am sure none of the students in that show are putting their best foot forward.

Felt sorry for the teachers who showed up in the show. The show was so one sided, I wonder if any teachers will want to come to the show after such treatment.

Just a thought. But overall, Gopi and the team have done a great job with the balancing act irrespective of who is on which side. Hope you all continue with the same direction and continue the good work.

Regards

P.S. I am not a teacher. Never been one, not aspiring either.

Hi, I disagree that it was one sided. If you see, when one of the students said "its your job", Gopi really made that guy realise his mistake and made him apologize.

Frankly, it was very crucial that teachers are all rounded. They need to know beyond their subject. The main job of a lecturer/proff is to generally give insights about the topic not just follow a textbook. If it is all about just teaching the textbook content, dont you think students can themselves do it. The education system should change and the main thing in that is the quality of teachers. Sad but the truth is that the teachers are not of very good quality today.

Also, tearing the teachers infront of the students. Frankly, a teacher earns respect from the way he/she teaches and his/her knowledge of the subject and beyond that subject. The same students who complainted about the students also complemented their teachers who are really good and inspiring.

Personally I feel that, a student's like and dislike for the subject mainly comes from the teacher as well. Teachers need to be inspiring like of the students said. When they are not, they dont earn respect from the students. As much as the students tease and joke about the teachers, they definitely respect and get inspired from some teachers who they are impressed with.

So, personally I dont think that they show was one sided. Students are good only as much as the teachers. I had some excellent teachers in whose class the most naughtiest of the students behave well and respect them.

Its actually wrong to generalise that teachers have knowledge only in the subjects that they teach and that they are zero in general knowledge...as mr.veeran points out there are so many teachers who have thorough knowledge of everything under the sky...vijaytv should have edited those portions which depicted that teachers could not answer the simple GK question, which indian won the latest booker prize...with those handful of teachers who attended neeya naana, it doesnt mean that all teachers belong to the same category.

i'm not a teacher either nor do i intend to become one:)

Lovemusic, that is definitely true. The ppl in the studio are not representative of all the teachers in India. But, I feel that such teachers are more in number than the teachers who know everything. (If you take teachers in villages also). I feel that Neeya Neena just wants give different perspectives. They dont want to give final judgements on which side is right, they just give the perspectives and let us decide. SO, in that way, I felt that the show was not that one-sided afterall. Different opinions I guess.:)

I am not a teacher either and Also, I dont work for Vijay tv or this show ;)

Its a truth that neeya naana enjoys a huge viewership...when that is the case if they want to prove a point in that prog, they should think twice...if they drive home the fact that astrology is humbug it is not going to affect anybody...but on the other hand, in issues like this, if they prove the point that teachers are a dumb lot, its not good for the society.

VAADHAM VALUKKIRATHU....:)
