Bansal gave a pleasant shock to hubby Ankush on their wedding
anniversary when she dropped in at his shoot place in Wahi....

Smita Bansal, who plays mother to the little Anandi in COLORS’ Balika Vadhu celebrated her 7th wedding anniversary on December 8th. But the irony was that her better half Ankush Mohla, who is the Director of Hats Off Productions’ new show on Zee, Shree was out of Mumbai, shooting at Wahi.

But Smita did not give up, as she called J.D. Majethia and expressed that she wished to be with her husband on that day. “I immediately called JD and told him that it was our anniversary and I wanted to go to Wahi. He was so very nice that he arranged for a pick-up and drop back and I succeeded in giving Ankush a pleasant surprise by dropping into his sets”, exclaims Smita.

“The whole unit had hidden from him the fact that I was coming to Wahi. They had organized a cake cutting ceremony for us, and this has been the most joyous and memorable anniversary for me till date”, avers the thrilled actress.

We talked to J.D. Majethia, who made this evening possible for the couple. “I never knew that it was their anniversary. Even when we were scheduling dates for the Wahi shoot, Ankush was not very convinced on going out of Mumbai during the fixed dates, but he never did tell me the reason behind it. When Smita called me, I sent her to Wahi and the whole unit had a great time celebrating their anniversary”.

Smita who is also busy shooting for Balika Vadhu could not stay back due to her busy schedule. “I would have loved to stay back, but I had to get back for my shoot the next day. However, my husband was very happy to see me there, and that’s what I wanted”, concludes the actress.

It’s all back to work now, after a day of jubilation for the hard-working couple!!

Define fashion?
I feel that you look best when you wear something that suits you. Fashion should be individualistic. I believe in setting trends for my own self. I do not follow the trend of others.

Who chooses your clothes?
I choose my clothes and I do not like any one else intervening with my choice of clothes. Sometimes, I take help from my designer friend Poonam. But the choice is always mine. I love to shop alone. Shopping is always a solo activity rather than a group activity.

Do you like to accessorise yourself?
I do not like to accessorise myself. I started acting in serials at a very young age because of which I have been wearing too many accessories since a young age. Every show that I have taken up requires me to be loaded with accessories be it Baalika Wadhu, Jo Ishq Di Marzi… or Ek Thi Rajkumari. So in my real life, I prefer to keep away from accessories. I just like wearing good clothes along with a nice watch, attractive pair of shoes and a good hair style. My hair has to be done properly. I wash and blow dry my hair everyday.

Is there any particular brand that you prefer for clothes?
United Colors Of Benetton, Adidas and Nike. My sense of style is sporty and casual.

What is your favourite destination for shopping?
I generally shop from shopping malls. I have never been out of India but I have heard that Dubai is very good for shopping. So I would love to shop there. I have heard that you get to explore a lot with clothes, bags and shoes out there.

Which are the clothes that make you feel comfortable?
Denim and a sports t-shirt. I also feel comfortable in short skirts. A kurti with a patiala salwar is the most comfortable thing to wear. You will always find me dressed in them when I am at home.

Who is your favourite designer?
Well, I think it is Manish Malhotra. I love his clothes but I have never bought anything from him as his clothes are too expensive and I never had any occasion to buy such an expensive outfit. For Indian clothes, I opt for Ritu Kumar.

A must have in your purse?
Perfume, deodorant, kohl pencil, hair brush and wet wipes.

What are the make-up products that you prefer?
MAC and Krylon because they don’t harm your skin in any way and settle well on your skin. In fact I saw an improvement in my skin after using MAC make-up.

A fashion tip.
Work on your body so that you are able to wear stylish clothes and experiment with clothes. If your body is in shape you get the confidence to carry anything and everything.

A make- up tip.
Use a good quality cleanser. Removing make-up properly is very essential. Splash warm water on your face after cleaning up all the make-up and apply milk cream. Pumpkin juice works best for the skin, so drink pumpkin juice every morning on an empty stomach.

"Gehna will get pregnant in the coming episodes," confirms the actress, "This will be a major twist because Gehna has always been very particular about everything. She is yet to get personal with her husband ever since she discovered that his 1st wife died because of early pregnancy."

The suspense will not end here. "Gehna's life has always been miserable and after this too she will face many problems. She will want to abort the child because she knows that delivering baby at such a young age can prove to be fatal for her," she adds.

This will continue to trouble her as her family will not support her in her decision.

"Ladka hoga ya ladki ye chinta bhi pariwaar waalon ko sataayegi as they will want a baby boy," informs Marda.

Presently in the show, Jagdish (played by Avinash) has objected to his wife Anandi (Avika Gor) continuing her studies further and has even started behaving badly with her. This week audiences will get to see Sughna, Jagdish's sister’s, gawna.

The episode of Gehna's pregnancy will be telecast in a week’s time.

For the whole year this serial has entertained all of us a lot especially after the entry of Rajvansh family which put a new life in the serial as the serial got its two heroes- Aalekh and Ranbeer. Soon we got connected to the love stories of the main leads.

2) Balika Vadhu (Colors) – This serial proved to be a real miracle. It was rejected by many main channels. Finally Colors agreed to telecast it and unexpectedly this serial reached to the top levels. Now all the other channels, who have rejected this serial must be regretting.

3) Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil (Star Plus) – This serial started as a replacement to Ekta’s long lasting love story- Kasauti Zindagi Ki. The serial was welcomed by the viewers as it was far better than Anuraag and Prerna’s love story (Kasauti..)

4) Raja Ki Aayegi Barat (Star Plus) – Initially the serial didn’t get very good response as the storyline was not appearing very strong; more over it was having a direct competition with Zee TV’s Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. But soon people started connecting to the love story of Rani and Kunwar Yudhishthir and this serial left Banoo Main Teri Dulhann far behind in TRP’s.

5) Jai Sree Krishana (Colors) – The bal leela of Lord Krishana in this serial was liked by all. Every one loved the Bal Gopal of this serial.

6) Banoo Main Teri Dulhann (Zee TV) – with the protagonist’s death and their reincarnation, the serial attracted the viewers in the first half of the year but soon it lost its charm. So it’s on the 6th position in our ranking based on the whole year’s performance.

7) Mayka (Zee TV)/ Hamari Devrani (Star Plus) - With one of the male protagonist’s death and the torture of the vamps on the poor heroines, Zee TV’s Mayka got successful in gaining the attention of a couple of viewers.
Another serial Hamari Devrani of Star Plus, which started in the afternoon slot, also impressed the viewers. The torture of all the five Jethanis on the poor heroine and her husband really glued the house wives to the show.

8) Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Star Plus) - This year Smriti Irani returned in the serial as Tulsi but still Ekta can’t save this show from being pulled off. Finally this serial came to an end in 2008. But even when the show was pulled off it was having a good TRP due to some loyal viewers of the show
.
9) Ghar Ki Lakshami Betiyan (Zee TV) – A few number of viewers also continued to watch this story of four betis, sorry five with the addition of the latest one.

10) Radha Ki Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi (NDTV Imagine) - From the start of the serial, it got good response from the viewers. As a result it was made a daily; earlier it was shown on every Mondays.

4) Rajat Tokas – After completing his role in Prithviraj Chauhan, this year Rajat Tokas did Dharam Veer. Initially the show did very well but soon lost its grip on the viewers. But still Rajat Tokas impressed his fans.

Now there is a long list of their fans and there are full chances that in the coming year their popularity will increase more.

7) Vikrant Massey/ Aamir Ali – With NDTV Imagine’s Dharam Veer along with Rajat Tokas one more actor impressed the youngsters- Vikrant Massey. People really liked him in the serial.
This year Aamir Ali appeared in Channel 9X’s show- Kya Dil Mein Hai. Though the serial didn’t do well but Aamir Ali was appreciated in the serial.

The state has indicated that it wants to implement an old rule that calls for child artistes to work for a maximum of four hours a day.

Producers have their point of view and parents of actor kids have their take on this. But what do the child artistes themselves have to say? Are they really enjoying their 'work'? Who better than Avika Gor ' the youngest bahu on TV today, who has become hugely popular as Anandi in Sunjoy Waddhwa's serial dealing with child marriage ' to talk to on this. Ask Avika if she's aware of the government's guidelines and she sweetly replies, "I'm too young to comment on this. Main toh bahut choti hoon." Point accepted.

This sixth standard student from Sharon English High School in Mulund seems to have absolutely no complaints. "I love acting," she says. But does she manage to balance her studies and work? "Work? Acting toh meri hobby hai. I'm not working," she emphasises. Avika attends school in the mornings and goes for her shootings in the afternoons. "I comfortably do my homework and my studies on the sets and I'm back home by 7 in the evening," she says.

A day off from school happens only if there's an outdoor shoot or a sudden early morning shoot. "But that's very rare," she says, "and my principal and teachers are very nice and supportive." Avika's good in academics and has been getting an A or A+ grade always. "I want to study a lot. When I grow up I want to become Miss Universe and for that I have to study. Minimum, you have to be a graduate, don't you?" asks the little wonder, who recently bagged an award for her telly performance.

She's been acting the past few years and has to her credit serials like Raajkumar Aryan, Sssshhh Phir Koi Hai, Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni apart from films like Paathshala and Morning Walk. But the girl's now a star. Does she feel like a star? "Nahin nahin. Abhi manzil bahut door hai," she shrugs, making one wonder about her maturity. Life's changed in some ways, she agrees. "I've made a lot of friends. I also have people who come to me and click photographs with me. That feels really nice," she smiles.

Masti galore at ITA Awards

The Indian Telly Awards took place in Mumbai on Saturday. And while the fun on stage was good, there was equal amount of masti and gossip off stage too.

The attraction of the show was when ex lovers Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar also received special awards.

Akshay got an award for ITA Popular Icon 2008. On winning the prize, khiladi Kumar said, "I have been in the film industry for close to 20 years now but no one has given me an award yet. This is the first time I have done television and am already getting an award." We agree with you Akki!
http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/Image//December2008/15-12shilpa-shetty.jpg
And if Akshay was to get an award, how could ex lover Shilpa Shetty who also debuted on television this year be far behind..hehehehe. She was honoured with the GR8! Achiever Laurel 2008.
http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/Image//December2008/15-12akshay-twinkle.jpg
And while Shilpa and Akshay have always maintained that they share a good rapport, the two completely avoided each other at the event. Shilpa and Akki were sitting in the same row and quite close to each other. However it seems Twinkle's presence ensured they didn't go beyond sharing the same row!

An alert and daring youth of Badliya village in Ajmer district took on his community and saved last night the lives of four 'balika vadhus' who were all set to become the latest victims of the child-marriage phenomenon, a social evil still prevalent in various parts of the state.
Anandi of "Balika Vadhu" serial has showcased to the nation the suffering of such minor girls forced into wedlock at an age where they don't even understand the gender differences. But there are thousands - or may be lakhs - in Rajasthan who have lived through the horror.
Four minor girls aged between four and 11 were dancing in new dresses, unmindful that the bridal wear was a gateway to a life in shackles. They were Maina (10) and Pooja (5) , daughters of Khiya Singh, and sisters Puja (4) and Rekha (6), daughters of Kanhayia Lal of Mayapur village.
All arrangements by their parents and villagers for the ceremony scheduled for today in Mangliawas block in Mayapur village were considered final till the saviour, Devendera Singh, stepped in.
Interference like this earns the wrath of the community in such a manner that cops, journalists and NGO activists have beaten a retreat many a time. This time also, the intereference was thwarted.
But a determined Devendera along with SHO Ravinder Singh of Mangliawas police station refused to budge. They roped in the civil administration, got an order to stop the marriages immediately and succeeded in saving the 'balika vadhus'.
After all there are over 13,000 child widows in Rajasthan alone as per the 2001 census. Several social NGOs besides the government are busy in preventing more girls falling victims to the social evil. Youths like Devendra who are not part of any NGO or an organised group are the real beacon of light to prevent darkness in the lives of many prospective Anandis.

10 QUESTIONS
Avika Gor
The lead artiste of the popular TV serial Balika Vadhu on her newfound stardom

Lata Khubchandani interviews Avika Gor

1>How did Balika Vadhu come to you?
I'm eleven now. I've been acting in television serials since I was ten. Someone took my clipping and showed it to the Balika Vadhu people and they called me for an audition. That's how it happened.

2>Is your character difficult to play?
No. Even the language is close to my mother tongue Gujarati so I pick it up easily.

3>Are you like Anandi in real life?
Yes, I am exactly like Anandi, there's only one difference between the two of us. Anandi is married while I am not!

4>Who helps you with your acting?
Mum accompanies me to the sets but daddy teaches me how to deliver my dialogues and pronounce words correctly.

5>Who's your favourite character in Balika Vadhu?
I like them all because I learn from them. Sadia Siddique plays my teacher and I really learn from her. And from my own character Anandi from whom I learn to speak pitter-patter.

6>How does it feel to kill every other TV serial?
That isn't true. People do have other favourite serials, apart from mine.

7>Do you enjoy being a celebrity?
I just love it. I enjoy it so much that I don't get tired of it.

8>You've signed films too we hear?
Yes, Pathshala and Morning Walk. I have a very small role in both. Pathshala has Ayesha Takia and Shahid Kapur and Nana Patekar. It is made by Ahmad Khan. That shoot is over. Morning Walk is yet to start.

9>Apart from action, what else do you enjoy?
I love to dance. I've been training to be a dancer since the age of four.

10>What do you want to be when you grow up?
Of course, Miss Universe and I'll continue acting after that!
Please Reply Guys......!!!!!!

In the spotlight, child actors enjoy their moment of fame
New Delhi (IANS): Spending more than eight hours on a set, learning tough dialogues and attaining overnight recognition in a glamorous industry - one might wonder if child actors are missing out on their childhood. But far from complaining, they seem to be enjoying every bit of it.

Darsheel Safary, Purab Bhandare, Shriya Sharma, Swini Khare and Zain Khan are some of the dynamic and confident child actors who are ruling the roost at present. They work almost as hard as their older counterparts, but they are not complaining. They say that they thoroughly enjoy the kind of life they are leading.

"I don't miss anything at all while leading the life of a child actor. In fact, I feel I live a better life. My friends play among themselves, but I play with stars. I play with my co-actors," Avika Gor, who plays Anandi in popular TV soap "Balika Vadhu", told IANS.

However, 10-year-old Swini Khare has a different take.

"I don't miss being on the other side of the table because I still feel like a normal person. I do everything that I used to do earlier. I play, go out, and study," she said.

Swini has done various movies and more than 50 advertisements, but her claim to fame was her role in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Cheeni Kum".

At an age when other children are just concerned about their studies, these child actors are juggling school and shooting schedules. They say that balancing the two is not as difficult as it seems.

"I don't have any difficulty in handling school and shooting together. I know how to strike a balance. I take my books to the sets and study in between shots," said Avinash Mukherjee of "Balika Vadhu" fame.

Added Zain Khan, who was seen in "Hari Puttar": "I won't say that it is extremely hard to cope with studies and shooting schedules. It's just that you don't have time to while away and I'm perfectly fine with that.

"It's in your hands not letting your studies get affected."

Child actors get recognition and fame at a very young age and it can have a negative impact on the impressionable minds, say experts.

Samir Parikh, chief of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Max Healthcare, said parents play the most important role in ensuring and providing guidance to children so that they are not harmed by the kind of exposure they get.

"By ensuring that basic life is not affected, not being extra special in behaviour, no comparisons and more so by making sure that normal life, schooling, friends are maintained, parents can prevent any kind of harm to their child," Parikh told IANS.

Child actors feel that even though they have to multi-task, they enjoy the special attention they get from people around them.

While Avinash feels proud that he is often called as a judge for programmes in his own school, Swini is amused at how her classmates fight to sit next to her.

While these kids have no qualms living life in the fast lane and enjoying every bit of their newly achieved stardom, it is essential for their parents to understand how far they should be allowed to go in the quest of achieving success.

Soon Avika will be seen with Shahid Kapur in the movie Pathshaala. Talking about her role there, she says, "I play Tina Khanna. It's a small role, I had signed it before Balika Vadhu." She adds, "It was fun working with Shahid bhaiya, he is very good."

Avika has done one more movie ' Morning Walk. She says, "Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore are my grandparents, and Divya Dutta and Rajat Kapoor my parents in Morning Walk. I have a lot more scenes in this movie than in Patshala. In Morning Walk, I learnt a lot from Anupam Kher. He taught me many things ' how to cry, how to talk..."

Talking about how she rehearses and prepares for her role as Anandi she says, "I read the scripts, dad helps me out and then I do a rehearsal with a director...so simple!"

For someone her age, you would expect her to study and not work, so does she get time to study, "Yes. Mostly, I go everyday but sometimes I take half-day. I give regular exams and take holiday for exams, so there is no such problem with attendance in school. I study during the shoots, my mother helps me out. Maths, Hindi, Marathi, Science, English are my favourite subjects."

Working all day on the sets does not mean that she does not do well at her exams. Avika scored 83.45 per cent in her last exam and this proves it all.

She is a popular kid in her school and it's not a surprise why. "Yes, they all take my autograph and photos. All are my friends and I like to make more friends. Earlier less people used to love me, now the whole world loves me," she says proudly.

So what does she do in her free time? She has a galore of activities to do she says, "I play study, sleep, dance, sing and swim."

Ask her if she wants to do more films and she quips, "Yes, I want to do more films... I want to become Miss Universe and after that I will do films, serials and many charity shows."

Well, so what are the charity shows that this young star wants to do? "I want to help the handicapped children and poor people," she says.

Ask her why she wants to become Miss Universe and she reasons, "Because I love modelling." She apparently doesn't get nervous and these are signs of a great star. And mind you, she is already a model.

She asserts, "I was in Lakme Fashion Week 2007 for Gini and Jonny and I have done many other fashion shows as well. I won the best model award for Gini and Jonny."

Although the role doesn't really give him much screen space, Chetanya believes it is still an important part of the plot. "The story opened with this character. Moreover every character is justified and unlike other shows here we don't have people just like props, but they are all active part of the story. I would like to take up more shows as a protagonist, but this one would forever be special to me," he adds.

In Saat Phere too he played a Rajasthani character. But it was totally different, he points out. "That character was comic as well as had shades of grey while this one is just an orthodox father." Well, looks like playing papa comes naturally to Chetanya.

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) “Balika Vadhu”, a TV show on child marriage, has become one of the most watched soaps on small screen. Its writer Purnendu Shekhar says it was originally a movie script, written 16 years back.”I originally wrote the script for a film in 1992. But at that time I was writing for other shows and didn’t have time to contact people and narrate the story,” Shekhar told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Shekhar has earlier been associated with shows like “Saat Phere”, “Kumkum”, “Astitva”, and “Saathi Re”. In 1996, he joined Zee TV as the senior programming executive.

His current show “Balika Vadhu” primarily revolves around child bride Anandi, who is married off to an equally young boy Jagdish. The girl is thus unable to have a joyful childhood and is bound by her in-laws’ customs instead.

When Shekhar wanted to make a film on the subject, he had titled it “Ehsaas”. But when his script was adopted for the TV serial, “Balika Vadhu” was finalised.

“I knew the title ‘Balika Vadhu’ fits the show perfectly, but I was not so keen on it because a film of the same name was made in Bengali. Later, the film was made in Hindi too. The film was not on child marriage, but I had my reservations about the title being the same,” Shekhar said.

Child marriage as a social evil was of immense concern to Shekhar who hails from Rajasthan where people still practise it.

“I have seen a lot of people getting married at a young age. My mother got married when she was 15 years old. My father was 23 years old at the time of marriage. Child marriage is an important issue and no one has addressed it seriously till now,” he said.

He quoted government figures and said: “This is not a thing of the past. Almost six million child marriages take place every year. It happens even now. It is just our ignorance that we don’t know about it.”

Shekhar says when he approached established channels for ‘Balika Vadhu’, it was rejected, saying only formula-based scripts work for their channels.

“Change is not acceptable to them (older channels) and they are not experimental. My story has no formula. It is a simple story with a simple narrative,” he said.

Though the motive behind “Balika Vadhu” is to create awareness about the evil of child marriage, Shekhar clarified that he is not intending to begin a revolution.

“The show is making people think about the issue and that is the basic purpose. One of my friend’s helpers watches the show daily and looking at Anandi’s plight, even she keeps thinking and talking about whether or not she should get her young child married.”

The sprightly lass has signed on the new show Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi slated to go on air on Sahara One and is enjoying this phase of her career now.

Not many are aware of the fact that Neha had actually started faced the camera for the first time as a little kid with her stint as a participant in the popular dance show Boogie Woogie. Then followed yet another dance show called Kaboom.

Besides the dance shows Boogie Woogie and Kaboom, Neha has also acted in quite a few serials till date including Ek Thi Rajkumari which as on the now defunct channel Zee Next. "Though it was Ek Thi Rajkumari which had me playing the title role for the first time, I also enjoyed working in the serials like Saath Rahega Always and Ghar Ek Sapna too."
Neha is playing a very challenging character in the new show Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi too. "I play Sunaina, who is only 19. She is a live wire, full of energy, outspoken, witty and highly adventurous. Music and dance runs in her blood and she is very passionate about it. Life however takes a sudden twist and the two love birds are separated for ten years. The show is all about how Sunaina, with her faith in Sumer's love and their relationship since their birth is ready to face all adversities, in their only desire, to be one forever".

Though she has acted in a few serials earlier and is not a new comer, people presume that she has actually made her debut as an actress with the serial Balika Vadhu, because it has become quite popular. Neha confesses that though acting in Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi was like a picnic, it is quite tough getting into the skin of her character in Balika Vadhu as the innocent young girl Gehna who is married off to an elderly widower.

Neha confesses that it is not a cake walk as far as preparing for the character of Gehna is. "The first brief that I was given was that I had to watch the CDs of Shekhar Kapoor's controversial film Bandit Queen , because the film also deals with the issue of sexual harassment in an adult manner. "

It is interesting to note that Neha, as a part and parcel of her preparation for the character was also asked by the director to maintain a safe distance and not to become very friendly on the sets with the actor who is playing the elder brother Vasant who forcibly gets Gehna as his second wife. "Since I had to get into the mood of the character, I prefer to even keep a distance from Surekha Sikriji who is playing my mother in law in the serial. I just make it a point to walk up to her when the shoot starts and just say a Hi Ma'm."

Neha admits that it was after her episodes in Boogie Woogie were telecast that Sahara One offered her the role in Saath Rahega Always. Besides Saath Rahega Always, Ghar Ek Sapna and Ek Thi Rajkumari, Neha has also acted in a documentary directed by Harsh Chhaya. "I played an 18 year old drug addict girl who gets molested mentally. It was after Rajesh Chaddha of BAG Films saw the documentary and asked me to do an audition, that I was selected for Ek Thi Rajkumari."

Neha says that, as an actress, she yearns to bag a role which will allow her to display her prowess in dancing, since she is proficient in dancing . "I feel that dancing is actually related to acting in many ways. I have learnt Bharat Natyam for nine years, Kathak for seven years, jazz in four years and Salsa in three years. For three consecutive years, when I was 17, 18 and 19, I was lucky enough to win the hat trick in the Boogie Woogie dancing competition on Sony."

Though as of now, Neha is quite busy round the clock working in two daily serials at the same time, she asserts that she is keen on acting in films too. In face, recently though she had bagged a very plum role in a South Indian film, she had no alternative but to forego the role because she could not get off from shooting for both her serials.

The daily soap deals with the sensitive topics of child-marriage and could that be the reason that it has left saas bahu sagas far behind in ther ace for high TRPs?

What is that special feature about this soap which distinguishes it from other dailies - that's the question we put to the cast of Balika Vadhu. And this is what they have to say:

“I knew the show would do wonders when I read the story for the first time. A different story line is what has made it so popular," says the 11-year-old Avika Gor who plays Anandi in the show.

Smita Bansal who plays Anandi’s mother-in-law says, “Conception plays a major role. About Balika I would say that right from conception to direction every thing is very good. The nobility of a small child getting married is what has fascinated the viewers so much."

"Considering the fact that the show has been on-air for the last 2 and a-half months only and Colors being a completely new channel, I think it’s a very big achievement for us”, says an elated Smita.

The impact of this journey of a minor girl has astonished stars working for other television soaps. So what do other soaps lack that Ballika Vadhu has managed to tap into?

Angad aka Alekh of Bidaai says, “ The story line plays a very important role in the game of TRPs. I haven’t seen Balika Vadhu personally but I am sure it has a brilliant story line and that’s the reason why it’s rocking. As far as our show is concerned we all are very hard-workering and our story line is also very strong. Rest everything depends on luck. But I am sure with such a good story line, we would continue to have good TRPs.”

Kis Des Mein's Heer (Additi Gupta) makes her point saying, “Viewers always want to see something new and different…Balika Vadhu is a show with a totally new concept and that’s the reason why it has made big in a very short span of time. Talk about us, even we are working hard… the track will not be changed just to raise the TRPs but what I would say is we’re definitely trying hard, so hope it’ll soon raise the TRPs.”

Neha Baam, Maahi of Maayka watches Balika regularly. Neha says, “Balika Vadhu is a very simple cute story of a small girl who gets married at a very young age. To get good TRPs, it’s not necessary to have high drama; a good story line is important. Hence, to get good TRPs, I think we need to have something different…people need a change; they want something different from these daily saas-bahu sagas.”

Banoo Main Teri Dulhan on Zee TV was enjoying the top spot for the longest time. But that too has also slipped down gradually. Divyanka Tripathi, the female lead of the show has a different point to make. She says, “Nothing is lacking as such in our show. TRPs keep coming up and down. Presently Dulhan has switched on to a very good and a new story line... a completely interesting track. It will take some time for the TRPs to rise but I am sure that will happen very soon. We are working very hard and we’ll surely get its fruit. All we need is patience.”

Balika Vadhu, Set in rural Rajasthan, narrates the story of a child bride Anandi. Having been married at the tender age of eight, to an equally young Jagdish, she enters a new world which is at once alienating and confusing. Torn away from the merriment of childhood, and her family, she has to accept and accustom herself to this new family of strangers, new relationships and accept her roles as friend, lover, wife, and mother as she forges her way in matrimony. This very unique show is ...BALIKA VADHU
The story revolves around a rich, feudalistic household in Rajasthan. It consists of a domineering matriarch, her two sons, the wife and the children, a boy and a girl, of the younger son. The story begins with the marriage of the boy with a girl of her age. Subsequent subplot include the marriage of the older son of the matriarch to a girl much younger than him. The sitcom portrays the difficulties faced by the younger girls when they, in the age of playing and studying, are married, move in with their husbands in altogether a new home (in a new environment) and have to bear the repercussions for the rest of their lives. Also, some married young-ones become widow in the age when they don't understand the meaning of marriage, getting widow is something really far behind for them. All this marriage is just a game for them where they get to wear new clothes, eat sweets and get gifts. The idea of this sitcom was really new and so interesting that no wonder it's the number 1 show of the indian television.

Size doesn’t matter. This is exemplified by none other than 10-year-old child prodigy Avika Gor. The little girl has been nominated for CNN-IBN’s Indian of the year award in the entertainment category.

Astonishingly, Avika will be competing against Bollywood’s biggest names like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, A.R.Rahman and Katrina Kaif. This list also includes Indian Premier League commissioner and Board of Control for Cricket in India vice president Lalit Modi.

The Mumbai girl had shot to fame with her character portrayal of the little bride Anandi in the Colors show Balika Vadhu. In 2008, she bagged the best child actor’s award at the 8th Indian Telly Awards. Similar prizes was conferred upon her at other award functions. Avika has also acted in films like Morning Walk, Pathshala.

Indians are Indians and cricket fever in India will always be the same as it was earlier. Be it in any field or in any lane of the country, cricket fever is something whose temperature never seems to sour.

The same happened on the sets of Balika Vadhu too. It happened when Neha Marda, better known to us as Gehna had a delayed flight back from Kolkata. The flight was scheduled to land at 9a.m which later made a landing at 11.30 a.m.

The unit took advantage of the situation and arranged for a bat and ball. As the sets are located in remote area of Mumbai the team did face difficulties arranging for a bat and ball. But the proverb try try till you succeed seemed to have been on everyone's mouth and they finally manage to get the cricket material and started playing. The unit cooperated as a team and the game went to its fullest. Everyone right from the spot boys to the artists participated and who didn't know how to play were busy cheering for their respective teams.

Smita Bansal aka Sumitra confirms the news saying, "Ohh, we had a gala time. Neha's absence surely gave us a relief", jokes Smita. "Everyone had a ball of a time. We enjoyed in our ways by playing cricket. I never knew cricket was so much fun until I played it".

Seems like everyone had a blast on Neha's expense. The poor girl did miss the fun. We spoke to Neha on this matter "Everyone had a blast without me. I love playing cricket and I was the one who missed it. Anyways everyone enjoyed on my expense, I will do the same some other day", jokes Neha.

Everyone seemed to have a gala time, all thanks to cricket which still lives in heart and soul of every single Indian.

A forecast of some of the top shows

Channels are facing the toughest challenge of all times. With so many new channels emerging the older ones are desperately trying to keep pace. The days of saas-bahu soaps are over and reality shows have mushroomed all over the channels. Shows with social messages are currently most sought after. New faces have successfully been launched. Despite it all there is no recipe for success. The small screen is the big screen now. With so much money being spent on television shows it is getting as big and good as the big screen. Some of the shows that launched last year have raked in the moolah but will the good times continue for them? No one can tell.

Tellychakkar got astrologer Pankaj Gupta to predict on the popular shows that are currently on air.

Bidaai (Star Plus):

The show will sustain its popularity and position throughout the year. The most fruitful phase will be from the beginning of the year till October.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/9feb/yehrishta100.jpgYeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Star Plus):

This show will have an average run till 14 March 2009. It is observed that during this period the production house will encounter some problems or losses. The producer is advised to avoid any complications or unnecessary controversies. It is from the month of November that this show will become popular.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/9feb/balika100.jpgBalika Vadhu (Colors):

The show will continue to garner popularity in the year 2009. But during May or June of this year the lead actor of the show will have a mishap on the sets while shooting. So the stars advise one to be careful.

Maayka (Zee):

This show will run normally till 25th May 2009 but from 25th May till 20 October 2009 this show will become popular. In totality the show will remain popular in the year 2009.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/9feb/bandini100.jpgBandini (NDTV Imagine):

The time period in which this show has started will provide it its well deserved popularity. One would advice the producer to be cautious during the month of March as there are chances of fire breaking out on the sets. This show on the whole will be popular amongst the audience during the year 2009.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/9feb/kitni100.jpgKitani Mohabbat Hai (NDTV Imagine):

This show initially will encounter some problems as far as the popularity is concerned and will be mediocre as far as performance is concerned. But during March this show will start becoming popular.

Our very own Dadisa who is in her seventies is quite an energetic woman. We wonder how she manages two daily soaps
Balika Vadhu and Saat Phere at a time and that too she plays significant roles in both. Where artists are always in the news for falling ill or collapsing on the sets, failing to cope up with the highly hectic schedule we haven't heard the same happening with our Dadisa.

"The present generation relies mostly on beverages like samosa, chatt and stuffs. Half of the time they are drinking Diet Coke or Pepsi and most of the time they say they are on strict diet, avoiding food even when they are hungry. I like to eat healthy food rather than munching samosas and stuffs. I keep a normal well maintained diet of healthy food, which is the reason I don't keep falling on the sets like other artists", says Surekha.
She takes the pain of travelling to two different sets and both of them are located on the opposite ends of the western suburbs. The Balika Vadhu's set is in Vasai whereas Saat Phere's set is in Kandivali. She travels ten days a month and we guess all her healthy eating habit comes to her use a lot while traveling and shooting. "Most of my days are booked with Balika Vadhu, because there I have a bigger role to perform. When I am not shooting for Balika Vadhu, I make it a point to shoot for Saat Phere. Sometimes the two shoots turn out to be on the same day. But being professional one has to make sure that the producer doesn't suffer because of you and hence I put in a little bit more effort and manage both the shoots.", says Surekha.

Were sliding TRPs the cause of Pratap’s death?Last evening’s dramatic events in Balika Vadhu (http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/23feb/news_smita.php) has left viewers stunned. The shocking death of groom Pratap (Jehangir Vakil) has made Sugna (Vibha Anand) a widow and now one wonders what lies ahead for the minor. Before that, it needs to be questioned whether is this how it was meant to be?
http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/26feb/sugna150.jpgOften death serves as a shock value and helps in grabbing more eyeballs. A similar thing happened on Bandhan Saat Janamon Kaa (http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/6feb/interview_vishal.php) and its TRPs soared. Balika has always garnered high TRPs but in the recent weeks there’s been a marginal drop. Also Balika’s competitor Bidaai has been scoring consistently over 7 TVR. There’s a school of thought that this death wasn’t part of the original plot but it was inculcated at the behest of the channel in order to score over Bidaai.

Colors spokesperson has rubbished the news. “This was always part of the storyline. We have no say in the script.”

An actor requesting anonymity too seconded this spokesperson’s claim. “This speculation does arise whenever there’s a death but the truth is that the story has been etched well in advance. In fact, we are told that the script for the next six months is complete,” says the actor.
http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/26feb/pratap120.jpgPost Pratap’s death, it’s speculated that life will get trickier for Sugna as she supposedly will get pregnant. In an earlier episode, Sugna was shown secretly meeting Pratap and the duo were romancing in the rain. Sugna bore a guilty look on her face when she returned home. Since then she was urging her parents to marry her off quickly.

Our actor source though refused to divulge anything on the upcoming track.

However, one thing is certain. We are certain this episode will rake in high TRPs when the TAM ratings are announced next week.

Media gag on Sugna, PratapSugna (Vibha Anand) and Pratap (Jehangir Vakil) have become the toast of the nation. The tragic events in Balika Vadhu (http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/26feb/news_balika.php) have left the nation mourning. Viewers of the show now want to hear from these young stars as to what really triggered this chain of events.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/feb/27feb/pratap120.gifAt a time when all and sundry seek answers, it’s surprising to learn that the channel has barred the two from talking to the media. As strange as it may sound, but it’s true. This was a perfect opportunity for the Vibha and Jehangir to grab headlines but it looks like the duo won’t be able to cash on it.

So, what is it that has made the channel take this step?

“Sugna is in deep shock still trying to come to grips with Pratap’s death. How do you expect her to talk when her groom has passed away?” a channel spokesman remarked sarcastically.

We tried to get in touch with the actors through Sphere Origins (production house) but without any result. “The channel has given us strict instructions that these actors cannot speak to the media directly. The questions will have to be mailed. After the stars give their reply, the channel will go through the answers and then send it for publication. Apparently, post the controversy surrounding use of children in TV, the channel doesn’t want the kids to speak directly to the media,’ said a Sphere Origins publicist.

Okay, by now we all know that post-Ballika Vadhu, the new formula for serials has three key ingredients: a traditional rural setting, a 'social issue' as the main theme and zero special effects (none of that zoom-in zoom-out).

These are what distinguish the new soaps from Ekta Kapoor's K serials, which were about urban families, had lots of weird special effects but no special social message (unless you count women marrying and re-marrying and re-re-marrying as a bold comment on female emancipation).

NDTV Imagine has already started a new serial on the lines of the new formula - Bandini, set in a Gujarati village, with the redoubtable Ronit Roy playing the local autocrat.

There's another one too in the pipeline (Jyoti) about a sacrificing young woman who devotes herself to her family and never thinks of herself. (Incidentally, this serial is made by the same team that makes Ballika Vadhu).

Now Colors (where Ballika Vadhu appears), is itself planning to launch two more such serials. Both are about the girl child but each one looks at the girl child from a different perspective. Na Aana Is Des Lado is about female foeticide and Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari is about a family craving for a daughter.

So have our entertainment channels suddenly developed a social conscience? You could also argue that isn't it better to have a family drama revolving around a social issue rather than a saas-bahu conflict? But the truth is that Ballika Vadhu is also about a saas-bahu conflict.

Last Friday’s hour long episode of Balika Vadhu (27 February) has recorded a mind-boggling TRP of 10 – the highest by any fiction show in the last one year. With this Balika Vadhu has regained the no.1 spot.

http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k9/mar/4mar/balika150.jpgIn the latest TAM ratings Star Plus still heads the chart with 305 GRPs while Colors is just one GRP behind.

So, is it death that has done the trick for Balika?

“It’s not the death but it’s the show that has won over the viewers. I’m not surprised by this development as Balika.. has been making a steady progress. Once you do that, such growth is expected. We’ve set a new standard but it also brings in added responsibility. We need to ensure that we now live up to these standards,” says producer Sunjoy Waddhwa.

Now that the bar has been raised what can we expect more from Balika Vadhu?

“Expect more surprises. That’s been the beauty of our show. For now though, we’d like to celebrate our success,” Waddhwa replied.

Farida Jalal's back on TV

After playing a comic naani in Shararat (Star Plus), Farida Jalal is back to the small screen with a very challenging and different role. She is seen playing ‘Badi Jiji sa’ in Balika Vadhu (Colors). The delighted badi jiji sa spoke to us about her comeback.

http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/image/March2009/30-03farida-jalal.jpg
“I am playing Kalyani’s elder sister. She stays in a city and so her thinking is very different from that of Kalyani. She is practical about things and will try to pass on some advice to her sister. She has come to bring in relief and happiness to the tense environment. Kalyani will also listen to her because she is elder to her, she will bring a change in her frigidness too,” reveals Farida.

Excited about her comeback, she tells us, “Balika is a very good show, it gives its viewers a social message and there are many other plus points too. There was no reason to say no to this offer. I’ve comeback for a positive cause and my character is very strong. Most importantly, they have signed me for a cameo. It is a very challenging comeback for me and I hope viewers love it.”

It has been a while now since the veteran actress started shooting. She tells us about her experience, saying, “I will bring about changes in Sughna’s life. I will ease her life to an extent. I’ve shot for many sequences with her.”

Even before she started shooting, the Farida followed the show regularly. She says, “One good thing about Balika Vadhu is that there are many repeats in a day. Even if you miss the evening telecast, you can catch up with it other time. I used to follow it quite regularly.”

She has already worked with Surekha Sikri earlier and she is very happy to work with her again. She says, “We played sisters only in Shyam Benegal’s Mummo in 1974. I admire her as an actress and respect her personally too. She’s a great lady and it’s really nice to work together after so many years.”

Talking about the similarity between herself and her character, she says, “Yes, I am very much like my character in real life too. I too take a stand against anything I don’t agree with.”

On her role not being a full-fledged one, the actress says, “I know that physically, it’s not possible for me to do a daily at this age. This role will only be for about two months and this is the reason I took up the offer. At this age, this much hard work is not possible! If the responses are good and I am asked by the channel to continue, then I might agree. The character is very exciting.”

Farida Jalal entered the show on Thursday. Balika Vadhu airs from Monday to Thursday at 8pm on Colors.

http://www1.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/images/uploads/67D_Vibha-Anand.jpg It is finally Vibha Anand of Balika Vadhu fame who bags the coveted role of the spirit Kangana in Zee's Shree..

The real ghost which has been haunting Shree and Hari ever since they met each other will come into the light this week in Zee's Shree.

http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/images/uploads/Vibha_Anand.jpgAnd the lucky actor who gets to play the important role of the spirit in the show is Vibha Anand, popularly known as Sugna in COLORS' Balika Vadhu.

Well, as reported by Telly Buzz earlier, Ketkie who was seen in Hats Off Productions' show Jassuben was to play the role of Kangana, but the channel wanted a different face altogether.

According to our source, "Ketkie was finalized by the production house and they wanted her to play the role. But the channel wanted a total newcomer, and they zeroed in on a new face, Ada. But for some reason that did not materialize, and finally it was Vibha Anand who bagged the plump role of the spirit".

Confirming this, Ketkie said, "Yes, I was finalized by Hats Off for the role of Kangana. But I guess the channel took the final call, and I am fine with it".

According to our source, "Kangana has a past which is related to the Raghuvanshi family, especially Hari. The spirit will confront Shree in the episode of April 17th and her character will play a major role in the show thereon".

Shree (Wasna Ahmed) gets a mangalsutra in the store room, on seeing which Hari is devastated and shocked. If sources are to be believed, Kangana will eventually turn out to be the wife of Hari, who has lost her life on the day of Ramnavami. The long kept secret of the past will come to the fore which will shake Shree to no extent.

Talking about her role, Vibha says, "I am very curious to look at myself in a completely different light. Playing such a character will definitely open new challenges for me and also give me the much needed diversity on television. I really hope the audiences accept me in this role".

Vibha essays the role of Sugna in Balika Vadhu whose husband meets with an untimely death after her Gawna takes place..

For a change, we now see the tussle between a spirit and bahu on television....

I have always successfully managed both work and studies,” speaks Avika Gor. Avika further adds that her on-screen husband Jagya not only helps her with studies in the serial but also in real life, “Avinash Mukherjee is also helping me in my exams preparations. Rahul Lohani will be the new music teacher for Gehna in COLORS' Balika Vadhu..

http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/images/uploads/2ZC_Rahul-Lohani.jpgRahul Lohani, who played the innocent Bhola in Zee's Jab Love Hua will be soon entering COLORS' Balika Vadhu.

According to our source, "He will be seen as the new music teacher of Gehna (Neha Marda)".

We called Rahul who confirmed the news and said, "I play the character of Niranjan who is a Music teacher. He is a very silent guy and is totally positive. He comes down to teach Gehna".

According to the story, Gehna is seen singing nowadays, and her interest in singing pushes Dadisa to appoint a tutor for the girl. This is how the entry of the teacher takes place.

"As the story moves on, Gehna will start getting influenced by the characteristics of the Music teacher which might lead to a new twist. But nothing is planned as of now", reveals our source.

Rahul was earlier seen in shows like Mohe Rang De, Jab Love Hua, Meri Dol Tere Angna, Sindoor etc.

The actor will be entering the show on 20th April.

The actor who got popular with the show Dharam Veer on NDTV Imagine, Vikrant Massey is back with a new show. The actor will soon be entering on COLORS No.1 show Balika Vadhu.

http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/images/uploads/A99_vikrant.jpgJew few days back, we had reported about the entry of Rahul Lohani as the new guy in Gehna's life, and it now looks as though Sughna (Vibha Anand) who recently lost her husband will soon be getting a new partner.

Our khabroo from the production house quips, "Vikrant will be entering the show and will go on to play the love interest of Sughna. His character name is Krishna, but the story line post his entry has not been finalized yet".

Elaborating more on his entry our source states, "The actor will be entering the show during IPL. Mostly it would be somewhere around May. The way in which he enters the house and his rapport with Sughna will be the high point of the show during the cricketing season".

It is heard that Vikrant was offered one of the lead roles in Nitin Desai's show on Sony, Rani Padmini of Chittod. He also had an offer from BAG films new venture on Star Plus. "Yes he had many offers, but then the role in Balika Vadhu interested him more. We had auditioned many people, but finally zeroed down on Vikrant for the role", says our source.

We tried calling Vikrant, but he was unavailable for comments.

Now with the entry of a music teacher for Neha Marda, who plays Gehna, the serial will have a good dose of music to it as well. Rahul Lahani is all set to play Niranjan on the show.

Gehna, who's married to the much older Vasant, has been trying to get along with him. Vasant, encouraged by Badi Jiji, gets home the young music teacher to train Gehna in music. Rahul's role as Niranjan seems to be a complete antithesis of Vasant. Mature, kind-hearted and understanding; he empathises with Gehna's helpless situation. Rahul's entry in the show will lead to a curious situation. So can Niranjan's entry lead to a possible love affair? Or will it bring Gehna closer to Vasant for his thoughtful gesture? We'll just have to wait and watch.

After Pratap's death, the plot of Balika Vadhu (Colors) focused solely on sadness and mourning, causing a fall in TRPs. Now, new faces are being brought on the show in the hope of luring back its lost viewers. In the past one month, there have already been two new entries and very soon there is to be a third.

1>http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/image/April%202009/21-04farida-jalal.jpg
Farida Jalal: Veteran actress Farida Jalal made her entry last month as badi jijisa and with the character, the family's sorrowful disposition seems to have brightened up. She plays a very positive role on the show; a character who tries to bring about changes in everyone's lives. Her practicality has proved very beneficial to all the daughters-in-law in the family. And it's not just them who are taking advantage of this: badi jijisa has given Sughna a lot of comfort after her husband's death.

2>http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/image/April%202009/17-04rahul-lohani.jpg
Rahul Lohani: He previously played the innocent Mayank on Kyunki. Now, Rahul Lohani will be bringing in a very interesting twist to Balika Vadhu's story. Rahul, who entered the show yesterday, is seen as Gehna's new music teacher. His character's name is Niranjan, who is very shy and innocent. There is a high possibility that there may be a love triangle emerging soon.

3>http://news.indya.com/UserFiles/image/April%202009/21-04vikrat.jpg
Vikram Massey: The Dharam Veer boy is the next to enter Balika Vadhu. He's going to be playing a positive character who adds to the family's happiness. Now that Sughna has no one in her life, after her husband Pratap's death, Vikram's character Krishna will be seen playing her love interest. Initially, the story might have a negative take on their relationship but later, they will end up being together.

Balika Vadhu airs every Monday to Thursday at 8pm on Colors.

The actress talks about her stint in the show and the manner in which she balances her two big roles in television..

Vibha Anand who is popularly known as Suguna of COLORS' Balika Vadhu is now seen in a totally different avtar in Zee's Shree, where she plays a spirit.

Here is the actress talking about her new show and much more..

http://www.india-forums.com/tellybuzz/images/uploads/38E_vibha.jpgHow has your journey been from Suguna to Kangna?
It has been very interesting. My character Kangana is totally opposite to that of Suguna and I am really enjoying this role.

How difficult was it to switch from one role to another?
Yes it was tough, but if you concentrate on your work and on the minute details of your character, things get easier.

How comfortable are you here?
The production team and actors are very co-operative and they haven't let me feel that it's a new place for me. I have got adjusted to the very friendly atmosphere in Balika Vadhu, but this set is certainly no different. Now I have three families, one is my own, the second being Balika and the third one is Shree.

What kind of preparation have you done for the role of Kangana?
Nothing much was needed. I worked on the emotions, the manner in which she expresses, talks, behaves etc. I am still trying my level best so that I do not deliver any artificial expression that gives an indication to the viewers that I am faking it. I want my audience to believe me.

We have heard that you were not the first choice for this role. So how have you taken this?
As far as I know, I gave the look test and was finalized. I really do not know whether other names were considered for this role or not.

Can you elaborate bit on your character?
Kangana is a spirit and we are trying to portray that not every spirit is bad or evil. Usually, it is the situations that make a person bad, and we are saying something on similar lines for Kangana, and developing a story to tell viewers why she is trapped here and is harassing everyone.

Which character is more close to you, Suguna or Kangana?
I can't choose any one of them as both the characters are very close to me and I am enjoying playing the roles.

How is you rapport with co-actors in Shree?
I haven't done many scenes with Hari. I have just done few scenes with Bindiya and Shree. Shree (Wasna) is a very sweet and bubbly kind of girl. Bindiya is also good and we are sharing the same make-up room and have lots of fun.

How difficult is it for you to manage your timing with two dailies?
It is difficult but at the end I believe that God has shown me the path and he will guide me through it too. I balance both the shoots in a way that it doesn't clash. For example if Shree needs me for more hours and we need to complete the scenes for the next day's telecast, I give my time for it. After two days or so, I go back to Balika Vadhu. I am very confortable with both my production houses, and that makes things easier for me. I feel really lucky to work with such people.

Besides acting what else do you do?
I am studying in the12th Std, so am preparing for my exams. Besides that I like dancing and love to watch movies. I am scared of horror movies. But after coming to the shoot of Shree, I am overcoming my fear. To watch such shows is not a problem now, but the background sound is really horrifying.

Any message to your fans on India-Forums?
I would just like to say that keep showering your blessings on me so that I can move forward. Thanks to all my fans.

There was a time when, to become a heroine or to even get a role in television shows or films, you needed to be Handsome or pretty. Looks were your passport to the celebrity world. In the recent past, however, things have changed drastically. Specially in the television industry. They have made it to the top solely on the basis of their acting prowess. Case in point is Vibha Anand, better known Sugna in Balika Vadhu.

One of the most popular actresses on Indian television today, Vibha started off as a greenhorn just about a year back. In fact, despite having done a course on acting from a school called Creating Characters, Vibha was so scared of facing the camera that she almost had a nervous breakdown. "Participating in an acting course is something and actually facing the camera is something else. I was very scared on the first day of my shoot and was trembling," remembers the actress. "To top it, I had to face experienced actors like Sulekha Sikri, Smita Bansal and Anoop Soni in the show. I just did not know how to move forward."

But Vibha managed to muster enough courage, move forward and prove to the world that she can act. "I am grateful to my director Pradip Yadav for giving me the confidence to act. He was the person who patiently explained every scene till the time I became comfortable. I wouldn't have been able to do what I did if it was not for him," says a grateful Vibha whose first serial – Balika Vadhu – has catapulted her to stardom.

Another factor, according to Vibha, that helped her a lot was the team spirit in the show. "This was possible because of the long time we spent together while shooting in Rajasthan. The first schedule of shooting was completely done in Rajasthan and the entire cast and crew of the team came together during that time. We have also formed a youngsters gang within the crew involving me, Neha Marda and Avika Gor and we have a blast the moment cameras are switched off! I feel it is this team spirit that has made Balika Vadhu the number one show today," explains a proud Vibha.

The perfect mix of youngsters and senior actors has helped the actress learn a lot and her performance has improved as a result. "It is of immense pride for me when I hear praises about my acting abilities in the midst of veterans like Sulekha Sikri, Smita Bansal and Anoop Soni. It would not have been possible without their active mentoring," says Vibha.

But it has been a sad story for her character in Balika Vadhu ever since her on-screen husband died in an Accident . "It was a complete creative decision. We had no idea of why it was done. In fact I got to know from the media that something like that is going to happen. But as you know, a new character – Krishna (played by Vikrant Massay) – has been introduced in the show. He will bring about some happiness in my life," says the actress who has been constantly seen crying in the show ever since the change in script. In fact, the story goes that Vibha doesn't even need glycerine to shed tears on the sets.

After her success in Balika Vadhu, Vibha has also started acting in a new Hats Off Productions' show – Shree, where she is playing the role of Kangana, as spirit. "It is a complete change from my earlier character. But it is very interesting and challenging and I am enjoying every bit of Kangana!" explains the versatile actress who feels she is a director's actress.

Interestingly, the same team spirit that Vibha enjoyed in Balika Vadhu is evident in Shree as well. "Today I have three families – my Balika Vadhu family, my Shree family and my actual family. I am equally at ease everywhere and they care for me equally," says Vibha.

Q. What ideal qualities would you want in your woman?
A. Firstly she should live her life and let me live my life. I would love if my woman would cook Indian food for me and who is most importantly independent because I believe every woman should have her equal space. She should be intelligent and she should have really beautiful eyes. I think it all starts with the eyes. I dislike women who don’t put kajal. I think that is one beautiful Indian quality that comes out.

Q. Would you prefer a homemaker or a working woman?
A. A homemaker at the same time who is working. I absolutely don’t believe that the two are not possible. I want a woman who loves kids.

Q. Hottest getaway with her?
A. May be Venis, or Greece.

Q. Would you go for a live-in relationship if necessary?
A. I don’t think so, even if I would want to, I would think about my family. If they don’t agree, I think I have to stop myself and at the same time try to convince her that this is wrong because our culture does not permit it.

Q. How would you woo your woman?
A. I really don’t know; may be I will try to do things that she wants me to do.

Q. If you found your partner having a fling with your best friend, what would you do?
A. I will shoot both of them (laughs). I think then I would just say, my friend does not deserve my friendship and my girl does not deserve my love. They both don’t deserve me.

Q. Would you allow your future wife to wear short outfits?
A. Yes absolutely, why not. I would allow her to wear short outfits and I would also allow her to wear nothing when she is with me (laughs). But yes it also has to depend on the time, the place and the people.

Q. Are men from Mars and women from Venus?
A. No I don’t think so. I think these days men are more romantic and expressive than women and I have had my share of experiences. Men do tend to express more than women.

Q. If most women don’t like the supposed dominating nature of men, what is the one trait in women that turns you off?
A. Nagging; unnecessary nagging for stupid things that turns me off. Women should also understand that men do not say or do things because they want to be the dominating sex but at the same time there are certain things which women have to understand that men tell something and their actions say something.

Q. Your take on spineless and polygamous saas bahu men?
A. Nothing at all.

Q. How would you define fashion?
A. Comfort. I buy a Ted Lapidos or a Tommy jacket but at the same time I don’t mind wearing a 100 rupees T-shirt from Fashion Street, which gives me sheer comfort in summer.

Q. Where do you normally shop your clothes from?
A. My clothes are not necessarily branded, yes but my jeans has to be Wrangler. I only wear Wrangler jeans and the tops don’t matter.

Q. Which brands do you prefer to buy?
A. I prefer Ted Lapidos; it is a fantastic brand. Then I also like Calvin Klein, Guess, and Tommy Hilfiger and lots of them.

Q. Do you often visit fashion shows?
A. No I have never visited fashion shows, not because I don’t like, only because I have not been invited (laughs).

Q. Who is your favorite fashion designer?
A. For me my favorite fashion designer would be someone who makes something that looks good on me. I would want Gauri and Nainika to make my outfits as they are fantastic, and at the same time I think Ted Lapidos can too design a few custom made outfits for me.

Q. Which is the costliest outfit you have bought till date?
A. It is a jacket which cost me around 18,000 bucks. For me it is very expensive. I think other celebrities wear underwear’s for around Rs. 10,000 (laughs), but I am very normal college going student, who earns money with sheer hard work, so I think 18,000 rupees was a lot for me.

Q. Which is your favorite party wear?
A. My favorite combination which I think you can wear anywhere, is a white shirt, blue jeans, and a Kolhapuri chappal.

Q. What do you generally dress up while relaxing at your home?
A. Shorts and a T-shirt.

Q. Any particular colors you opt for while buying your clothes?
A. White and Black. Whenever I go shopping, there has to be at least one outfit which is black and one which is white.

Q. Any fashion tip you would like to give to our readers?
A. I believe people have this thought about cheap clothes, that if one buys street clothes then their social status falls down. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I don’t mind going and buying a 60 rupees t-shirt for myself from linking road which makes me look good as well as gives me sheer comfort at the same time. I think comfort is very important.

Charming television actress Sriti Jha’s acting skills has been appreciated in both her on air shows, Shaurya and Suhani and Jyoti. Lets find out how the actress manages to shoot too dailies at a time and many more.

Q. How do you manage two shows at a time isn’t it hectic for you?
A. It’s not much of a problem for me to manage both the shows as both the shows are of the same production house, Sphere Origins. They schedule it really well for me and that is why it never becomes hectic for me. The time of both the serials never clashes.

Q. Which role among the two do you like playing? Which one is more like you?
A. Don’t ask this question, I am trapped. But yes, I would say Sudha is more closer to me but it doesn’t mean that I don’t like Suhani. They are both very different type of characters. Unlike me Sudha is very timid, shy and insecure. Suhani is full of life. She is more into action. She does horse riding and all and has all the emotions which a human being has. I think both the characters I play are very different but yes Suhani’s character is bit similar to my character.

Q. Don’t you get late for the shoot?
A. No, not really. I make it a point to reach on time because I like being on time and not getting late. And these people coordinate the timings among themselves so well that it rarely happens that I get late on the shoot of either of the shows.

Q. Do you like cricket do you get time to watch IPL matches?
A. First of all I don’t like cricket like every other Indian does. I am not mad about it. And I hardly get time to watch matches and whenever I get time I get so tired that I go off to sleep. But it’s so much in news and around you that you can’t escape also. On every television sets these days we only see IPL matches going on.

Q. How your life has changed after joining the television industry?
A. My life has become very busy after joining the television industry but any big change has yet not come. I am still the same old Sriti for everyone. As soon as I am out of my shoot I am same old Sriti and the best thing is that nobody recognizes me on street; very rarely people recognizes me and because of that I can be my own self.

Q. Do you like the way of working here?
A. Yes, I like the way television people work and we all really work hard. We all shoot all the thirty days a month with same energy and enthusiasm just to entertain our viewers. I know it’s a bit hectic to work in the television industry but then the people are really dedicated towards their work here. I really like this dedication towards work and even I have become much more sincere and dedicated after becoming a part of television industry.

Q. People talk about your affair with Vikrant Massey. What do you want to say about this?
A. I would like them to be more confused regarding this issue as I know people like talking about these issues. As long as I know there is nothing between us and so these rumors doesn’t affect me. Yes, I really get along very well with Vikrant and we go out every alternate day but it’s just a good friendship and nothing is cooking between us.

While some TV shows get ready for a generation leap, others remain
Avinash Mukherjee and Avika Gor in 'Balika Vadhu'

unchanged

Now that the IPL has concluded, child lead actors in the primetime shows, Uttaran and Jai Shri Krishna are all set to take a generation leap. However, those who cant get enough of Anandi and Jagdishs childish banter in the popular show Balika Vadhu, which is telecast on the same channel, have a reason to smile as the kids arent ready to grow up yet. Even though the focus of the show has lately shifted to the adult actors, actors Avika Gor and Avinash Mukherjee, who play the young couple Anandi and Jagdish respectively, will grow up gradually in Balika Vadhu. Talking about the change in the plot, Rajesh Kamat, CEO of the channel, said, The reason why we werent showing much of Anandi and Jadgish was because both the actors were busy taking their exams . It would have been ironic if after addressing child literacy so forcefully in the serial, our own lead actors didnt get time off for their studies. Now that the exams are over, Avika and Avinash will be back in full force.

Meanwhile, the child actors from Uttaran, Sparsh Khanchandani aka Ichcha and Ishita Panchal aka Tapasya, and Krishna Bhatia aka little Krishna of Jai Shri Krishna are about to exit from their respective shows due to the time leap. Explaining the reason behind the decision, Kamat said, There are too many imitations of what you call the juvenile formula. We feel confident enough now to let our two popular serials take a generation leap without affecting their popularity. As for Balika Vadhu, Kamath envisages no generation leap. In fact it would be interesting to see the two actors grow up as the serial progresses, he said.

Every boy loves their toy and Vikrant Massey is no exception. He has stacked up all the latest gadgets that keep him company every time he needs to be entertained.

Ask him about his gadgets and he says, "I have an I-pod. I have an Apple Mac book laptop and want to buy a Mac book Pro but it's very expensive. I have a Sony PS3, PS2, a PSP, and a portable DVD player which I carry with me whenever I travel so that I can watch films. I also want an I-phone."

However he does agree on creating a balance. "They have made us mentally lazy, we can just surf to know a lot of things about the world. I believe a lot of field work and activity should be involved in everyone's life," he adds.

We sure do hope his gizmos don't make him a couch potato!

'Meeting friends and talking non-stop eases stress' - Neha Marda

Neha Marda who is seen in COLORS' Balika Vadhu as well as Sahara One's Jo Ishq Ki Marzi talks about her passion, her way of relaxation etc...

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll89/dibya_album/57D_Neha-Marda.jpg

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about dancing. I have learned dance for many years.

How do you spend your pass time whenever you are not shooting?
I love watching movies. I also like to chat with friends over coffee and we gossip a lot.

Which is the best way of relaxation for you?
I think meeting friends and talking non-stop on various topics is the best way to relax. Our minds get diverted from the mundane things and we spend good time laughing.

Do you think yoga and exercises help you go a long way?
Yes I do believe yoga is the only way to keep myself fit. Doing two shows at a time is very hectic, and the best way to ease yourself is with regular pranayam.

What are your hobbies?
Dancing and singing. I have got three years of training in singing, and nine years training in Bharatnatyam.

If you were to take your passion as your career what will it be?
I think I am on the right track and now acting is my passion. Initially I had never thought of acting, but now I like it and it is my passion.

The one thing that irritates you whenever you come across it?
I hate to see people lying.

Do you get angry very soon?
Yes I do, but I don't show it outside; I control myself.

You must have gone thro rigorous training in sword fighting, horse riding etc for your show on Sahara One. Explain the efforts taken.
Initially it was very difficult to learn horse riding. The moment I saw a horse, I used to get afraid. But now all is fine and I have learned to ride it very well.

Are you a family oriented person? Does enjoying time with your family ease out stress?
Yes I am a family oriented person. I am equally possessive about my friends.

What is your mantra to maintaining a calm composure?
My mom always used to say that if you get angry, you have to scream and remove it out of your system. Other than this, I don't have any mantra as I usually remain calm.

Ishita finalized for Anandi?

Ishita Panchal who has now become very popular as Tapasya of Uttaran (Colors) says she was finalised to portray the role of Anandi in Balika Vadhu. Surprisingly, she is not at all regretful for this fact.

Ishita PanchalOn screen Tapasya says, "I was finalized for Balika but I couldn't do it for certain reasons. But I am okay with that. If I was playing Anandi in Balika, I wouldn't have got to play Tapasya in Uttaran. So basically I am very happy playing Tapasya and have no regrets at all."

"I also gave auditions and was even selected. But at that time, I was doing Rama, The Saviour with Tanushree Dutta and Saahil Khan. Since I was busy shooting for that movie, I couldn't say 'yes' to Balika."

Rama, the Saviour which was released last year was directed by Hadi Ali Abrar and produced by Abdul Aziz Baroodgar. Apart from Tanushree Dutta and Saahil Khan, WWE wrestler Khali was also a part of the film.

The eleven year old Ishita tells us that though she might have missed being known as Balika Vadhu of the small screen, that doesn't stop her from being an ardent fan of the show. She tells us, "I love watching Balika Vadhu and I watch it when ever I have time. Avika who plays Anandi is very sweet. I simply love her innocence and the way she fights with Jagdish is so cute."

Had this little gal been in the picture, we would have seen her as Anandi in Balika Vadhu fooling around with Jagdish.

Balika Vadhu has proved it self by being in the top position of the TRP's charts. With its twist in the tale, the show has managed to glue the audience on their TV sets. Well another twist follows with the love track between Sughna (Vibha) and Shyam (Vikrant).

As per the sources, "Taisa (Neha) of Sughna helps her and Shyam to come closer. Ghena assist the secret meetings of the two as she wants Sughna to settle down with her life after the death of Pratap."

In the coming episodes another track between Ghena and her hubby Vasant will be the highlight. "Vasant is feeling jealous as Ghena takes good care of her guruji who preaches her singing. Though he doesn't realise that this will bring Ghena and him much closer to each other," adds the source.

The rapport of Sughna and Shyam will not be accepted by Dadisa. "The day she comes to know of what all three is doing behind her back, she will not spare them," concludes the source.

So keep glued to your screen with the high emotional drama.

Baby day care

Taking proper care of babies especially when both the parents are working has become really important these days. Especially for some of our telly stars, this really becomes a big point to worry.

Indya asked some of the telly mommies about who takes care of their kids when they are shooting and here's what we got from them.

Neha Marda, the timid Gehna of Balika Vadhu, is presently seen in a completely new avatar, a hot chick, in her new show Kismet Connection on Sahara One.

Marda talks about her journey from the quiet Gehna to the charming Naina, saying, "Without a doubt, there has been a lot of transformation, right from the era to the costumes to the look. In Balika, I am playing a simple village girl whereas here I am seen as a proper westernised gal in a fashion house."

Talking about the show, she tells us, "The show revolves around a fashion house and how, where and why people meet…how certain are destined to happen. It is the story about four friends and how they connect with each other. It's about how the people in a fashion house are into themselves."

The actress is very excited about carrying off a westernised look. She says, "As the show is about a fashion house, the look varies. Hence I am seen in a variety of dresses and fresh getup every time. The look is soft and lovely."

Though Marda says there are many similarities that she shares with her character, there is one major difference too. She tells us, "Naina is pretty much 'Neha', she's very impromptu and hence I am enjoying the role. She's very lively, charming and a jovial girl just like me but the only difference is that Naina has a fianc. Neha is still looking for a fianc! (Laughs)"

Kismet Connection premiered yesterday and will air every Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on Sahara One.

After being in a relationship for one and a half years, Rahoul Lohani (Mayank of Kyunki) is finally getting married on July 1st to his lady love Meghna Chitalia. He talks to Indya about it.

"I am getting married on the 1st to Meghna. We've known each other for the past three years and have been in relationship for one and half years," says Rahoul.

Rahoul tells us about his lady love, "She owns an event management company called 'Party Planet'. She is a Gujarati and because of this, initially convincing our parents became a really difficult issue. I hail from Uttaranchal, hence my family is pretty conservative. Although I've been really lucky because from her side, there was not much of a problem."

Lohani says that the wedding will take place in a very simple way. He tells us, "I am from Uttaranchal and she is a Gujju but the marriage will take place in a very simple way. It will take place in Mumbai only. First, we'll go for court marriage and then it will be a simple marriage in an Arya Samaj way."

The list of invitees too seems to be small as the actor tells us, "It will be a very private affair with only the families and few of my very close friends. This will include Sharad and Kirti Kelkar, Manav and Shweta Gohil, Mohit, Sudeep and Anantika Sahir and Manav Vij. For my rest of the industry friends, I will throw a party for them later where my entire team of Balika, Kyunki, Mohe Rang De will be invited."

Ask about his honeymoon plans, the actor informs, "We will be flying to Bangkok on the 3rd. Our friends Sharad and Kirti suggested us for this place and the wonderful part is that they will be giving us company. On this occasion, I want to gift Meghna something in diamond but she is also very fond of travelling, hence I am confused between the two things."

Indya wishes the couple a very Happy Wedding!!!

She's the small screen's 'beendni'.
Avika Gor

And now, Avika Gor, the youngest — and must we add most favourite — bahu of television, is gearing up for her big screen debut. And guess who's giving her company in her first film? None other than veteran actors Anupam Kher, Sharmila Tagore and Rajit Kapoor. 12-year-old Avika will be seen playing Gargi, Anupam Kher's grandaughter in the film Morning Walk and naturally, she's ecstatic about it.

"I really enjoyed working with all of them, bahut enjoy kiya," says Avika.
Even though the film stars other actors like Shayan Munshi, Divya Dutta and newbie Nargis, it's with 'Anupam uncle' as she fondly calls him, that she has the maximum screen time and has bonded the most as well. "He loves me a lot, he's like a child when he's with me," she smiles. And what's the best compliment she's received from him?

"There was a scene in which I had to cry and he told me I cry very well," she adds and giggles, "He told me you cry a lot in your serial too, itna roya mat karo!" She's even spoken to 'Kiran aunty' — "She told me she watches my serial everyday and likes my acting."

Compliments she receives by a dozen everyday, but considering she's working in TV as well as films, how does she manage to balance her studies? The seventh standard student replies, "I never bunk classes. I shoot only after my school hours."

Comparisons between TV and films don't bother her. "Just like I love dancing, Western or Indian, I love acting, whether it's TV or films," she answers like a pro. And no, she hasn't decided yet if she will continue doing work or take a break for studying. "I haven't decided all that yet, but I will keep doing whatever work I get. After all, bade hokar mujhe Miss Universe banna hai na!"

Apart from the thrill of getting married on both her shows, Vibha Anand of Balika fame has another reason to smile these days – a brand new car.
“I had wanted a car for a long time but couldn’t buy one due to various reasons. Now that I’ve finally bought it, I am super excited about it!” says the actress. “It is a silver-coloured Chevrolet Spark and I got it on July 4. I took a lot of time while selecting it; the one thing I really like is that it has these round headlights which look very cute.”

It was Vibha’s father who picked up the car as she was busy shooting. “I was shooting for Shree and was in my make-up room when my dad arrived. I couldn’t control my excitement; I jumped up and rushed off to see my Spark. This is special because I bought it with my own hard-earned money.”

However, it turns out, Vibha doesn’t know how to drive yet. “I have a driver and since I have my own car, travelling has become much easier. I desperately want to learn how to drive but I need a license first,” she laughs.

Vibha can currently be seen as Sughna in Balika Vadhu (Colors) and Kangana in Shree (Zee TV)

Timid and innocent Sughna in Balika and wicked and cruel Kangana in Shree, there is much to know about Vibha Anand:
Birthday: September 8, 1991

School: Doon Residency, Dehradun.

College: “I am still studying, I just gave my Class 12 exams.”

Hobbies: “I love acting, watching cartoons, cooking and dancing. I want to learn Western styles of dancing. Madhuri Dixit is my idol, as I think she is a complete actress and an amazing dancer.”

Prized possession: “My silver-coloured Spark, which I recently bought.”

Biggest accomplishment: “When I won the Best Supporting Actress award at the New Talent Awards this year for Balika Vadhu.”

When not shooting, she loves: “Cartoons, especially Tom and Jerry. And now that it is the monsoon season, I also love getting wet in the rains. I recently had to shoot for a rain sequence in Balika Vadhu, which I really enjoyed it.”

Favorite hang-outs: “I haven’t really got the chance to see the city properly, but I love hanging out at the beaches in Mumbai.”

I really get along very well with Vikrant Massey - Sriti Jha
Charming television actress Sriti Jha's acting skills has been appreciated in both her on air shows, Shaurya and Suhani and Jyoti. Lets find out how the actress manages to shoot too dailies at a time and many more.

Q. How do you manage two shows at a time isn't it hectic for you?
A. It's not much of a problem for me to manage both the shows as both the shows are of the same production house, Sphere Origins. They schedule it really well for me and that is why it never becomes hectic for me. The time of both the serials never clashes.

Q. Which role among the two do you like playing? Which one is more like you?
A. Don't ask this question, I am trapped. But yes, I would say Sudha is more closer to me but it doesn't mean that I don't like Suhani. They are both very different type of characters. Unlike me Sudha is very timid, shy and insecure. Suhani is full of life. She is more into action. She does horse riding and all and has all the emotions which a human being has. I think both the characters I play are very different but yes Suhani's character is bit similar to my character.

Q. Don't you get late for the shoot?
A. No, not really. I make it a point to reach on time because I like being on time and not getting late. And these people coordinate the timings among themselves so well that it rarely happens that I get late on the shoot of either of the shows.

Q. Do you like cricket do you get time to watch IPL matches?
A. First of all I don't like cricket like every other Indian does. I am not mad about it. And I hardly get time to watch matches and whenever I get time I get so tired that I go off to sleep. But it's so much in news and around you that you can't escape also.

I know it's a bit hectic to work in the television industry but then the people are really dedicated towards their work here. I really like this dedication towards work and even I have become much more sincere and dedicated after becoming a part of television industry.
Q. People talk about your affair with Vikrant Massey. What do you want to say about this?
A. I would like them to be more confused regarding this issue as I know people like talking about these issues. As long as I know there is nothing between us and so these rumors doesn't affect me. Yes, I really get along very well with Vikrant and we go out every alternate day but it's just a good friendship and nothing is cooking between us. -Sampurn Media

I dislike women who don't put kajal - Vikrant Massey
Vikrant Massey would soon be entering Sugna's life in Sphere Origins's Balika Vadhu. We spoke to him about the ideal woman he would prefer in his off-screen life.

I dislike women who don't put kajal. I think that is one beautiful Indian quality that comes out.

Q. Would you prefer a homemaker or a working woman?
A. A homemaker at the same time who is working. I absolutely don't believe that the two are not possible. I want a woman who loves kids.

Q. Hottest getaway with her?
A. May be Venis, or Greece.

Q. Would you go for a live-in relationship if necessary?
A. I don't think so, even if I would want to, I would think about my family. If they don't agree, I think I have to stop myself and at the same time try to convince her that this is wrong because our culture does not permit it.

Q. How would you woo your woman?
A. I really don't know; may be I will try to do things that she wants me to do.

Q. If you found your partner having a fling with your best friend, what would you do?
A. I will shoot both of them (laughs). I think then I would just say, my friend does not deserve my friendship and my girl does not deserve my love. They both don't deserve me.

A. No I don't think so. I think these days men are more romantic and expressive than women and I have had my share of experiences. Men do tend to express more than women.

Q. If most women don't like the supposed dominating nature of men, what is the one trait in women that turns you off?

Vibha Anand is excitedly gearing up to get married, not once but twice, on both her shows, Balika Vadhu and Shree.
She says, “It is great fun when we shoot for these sequences where the entire family is present. We are all together, which is an amazing feeling. Plus, when you are the bride, the enjoyment is doubled as you are the centre of attention.”

In Balika Vadhu, Vibha plays Sughna, who marries Pratap (Jehangir Vakeel) but is widowed on the day of her gavna when Pratap is murdered. Now, she will be marrying Shyam (Vikrant Massey).

Vibha believes that widows should have the freedom to re-marry in real life also. “When a young girl’s husband dies, it is the biggest shock of her life and she is shattered. On top of that, she is forced to lead a miserable life. It is a critical time, when she needs the support of her family, and she should be encouraged to find another partner.” The actress shares a good rapport with co-star Vikrant, and says, “Although we don’t get too much time together apart from our scenes, I can say that he is a very good actor and we are great friends.”

Though the two roles she plays are poles apart, Vibha says she enjoys both, the evil Kangana in Shree and the timid and innocent Sughna in Balika. “They are completely different and very challenging. Mujhe rona bhi pasand hai aur rulana bhi…”
