Dear Mr Gopinath & Neeya Naana Team,

In the first place kindly accept my appreciation for a well-conducted programme. The appreciation is more for the way you conducted the programme than for its contents.

I have the following comments to offer:

1. I am not sure as to why you chose only women as the "Target Subject" for this topic? Why did we not question the Men-folk for 'wearing ear-rings/studs'?

2. Why are men not questioned for NOT wearing the traditional attire of dhoti as office-wear?

3. The point that I am trying to bring in here is that men wear trousers to the workplace - in place of the traditional dhoti - for comfort and convenience, and are NOT being questioned for that. Whereas, we are unable to accept the same logic when women try to do the same. In fact all of us see the travails that women in Sarees / Half-sarees (reveal more than what they cover) go through in the public transport and yet we insist on them going through such hardship in the name of tradition. In most instances women go through the harassment (midriff / bottom pinchings) in silence - when they see only male-wolves all around them.

4. Just as the Politician Lady quoted examples of Mrs Indira Gandhi, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Mrs Jayanthy Natarajan as examples of successful women wearing sarees to the workplace - we have numerous examples of successful men wearing dhoties to the workplace. Are you aware that it is a dhoti-clad man who has been voted as 2008's best-dressed (and most attractive) man, by the leading ladies of the country? Yes, you guessed it right: It is Mr P Chidambaram. So, men should have no excuses for wearing dhoties to the workplace? But we see 99% of the men-folk wearing only trousers / jeans as they step out of home.

5. I would finally suggest that the dress code for all outings - for both men and women - should be left to their choice based on comfort and convenience. Traditonal attire can be imposed (or expected) at home and all other domestic activities. Chinese and Japanese women are classic examples. They wear western-wear (trousers and coats) to the workplace, and on return they switch back to their traditional attire. Ms Indira Nooyi - CEO of Pepsico Inc - is another high-profile example of such switches.

Thanks for allowing me to express my views.

This episode i fet was bit boring compared to other topics.

Both the groups had a close-ended arguments and they end up saying " I like doing that, why do you want question me & What is the problem you have in me wearing these".

The whole episode did not turn out as expected, and i saw Gopi taking up the leads everytime and was trying hard to make a sail...

Come on Gopi try taking up more challenging topics and leave this century old discussions Old vs New ones.....I Like to get you do these challenging ones..

Adding up to your Brain-storming sessions on Topics :

1. Which is more profitable & fortune - Working in India or Working Abroad ???
2. Who is always right during distress - Mangers or Sub-ordinates ???
3. Do you have Politics in your work Place - Yes or NO ???

Hope i gave some good topics for Neeya Naana.......

Dear Ommsdxb,

Thanks for the response.

While the topics suggested by you are very good, I would like to see the topics match or better those of Burqa Dutt (NDTV). The topics should be intellectually stimulating, and at the same time something useful to the society. Arguments for the sake of arguments are of no use. A couple of suggested topics - based on the above norm - from my end would be:

- What ails the Tamil TV Channels: Movie-obsession or Political-backing?

- Why do we have disputes with all our neighbours - Are we to be blamed?

More such topics are most welcome, and could be brought to the attention of Neeya Naana team.

Hi Mr.JRS,

Nice observation and views. I also watched the program. I felt they were all trying to justify that they are right, which is not wrong, but the reasons were not convincing enough for both the groups.

Even the special guest Malathi Mythri(hope I spelt it right) did'nt give some good points. Still talking about ladies being treated like a slave - in which generation are these people living? Iam really surprised to see them talking as if the gents are dominating and, the ladies are poor human beings who are suffering and as if they don't have any freedom. How many shops are ther in Chennai selling the western outfits and howmany are using them regularly? I see most of the girls/ladies wear western dresses to work. Some middle class people, who still fear what the neighbours or community will say are wearing the salwar, sarees kind of dress.

I personally as a Gal feel it is so comfortable and even looking good to wear Pant and shirt or Salwar to work and definitely not saree. I like to wear sarees only for the special ocassions or parties.

Saree potuttu pona idippaangalam, pant shirt pota bayanthu othungi povaangalam. Enna nonsense ithu?

Mr. Gopinath please select people who can give nice comments. There are lots of people watching this show. Etha pathi pesaromnu theriyama irukkaravangala ellam pesa vidaatheenga.
