erm, I do hope you realise that this show is not JUST being broadcasted in Tamilnadu but internationally. Watched by thousands or perhaps millions on TV channels or by the video uploads on various sites. English you have to admit is de facto international language, by using some English words and using simple Tamil which we NRI's (I am one) can understand, greatly increases our comfortability in watching the show. We couldn't understand as easily if only Tamil is spoken throughout. I do hope you don't take offence.

I accept the show is being broadcasted international.. but we have to admit its the show for Tamil audience not for International audience. I do agree they can use SOME english words but certain people talk only in english which will make others discomfort like you feel. IMO it would be nice if they use english when necessary but not always.

Neeya naana is tamil show, on a tamil channel for the tamil audience discussing about issues mainly in Tamil naadu. Why bring in so much english? Im sure the 'international' audience (who are basically tamil) can understand that much tamil.

aathoo akka,
not everybody who lives abroad(esp tamilians) can speak and understand tamil as much as you do......I live in India,I am not a tamilian but I am learning tamil now, even I cannot understand as much, sometimes when they speak in english I can grasp what they are saying............people are more comfortable speaking in english than in tamil these days
We cannot blame the show,we have to blame the audience and there is no use doing so because this is something that can never be rectified!

Is it just your view or statement?? If its a statement i disagree with that.

They are not using "Sanga Tamil" in the show they just use the modern social tamil, adhu kooda puriyalainna konjam kashtam dhaan :D. As i stated earlier, they can speak in english whenever required but NOT always. Now I used few tamil words to express myself because i felt comfortable in expressing certain words in tamil than english. So the same way, participants can do the same.
We are not blaming the show, its just a VOC. And it can be rectified by providing guidelines to the participants & little effort from participants.

Hi,
I do agree that Neeya Naana is a tamil show on a tamil channel but I donot agree that the show is only for issues in TamilNadu. The show is for general issues in India.
The viewership for this show is higher in international countries. Even tamilians who are third or fourth generation immigrants to other countries are watching this show with great interest.
Well, my opinion is that it doesnt matter in which language the message is conveyed. It really matters whether the message is useful and well received by viewers.

Here are my 2 cents. The producers of the show want the show in Tamil. Gopi always speaks in tamil and sometimes points out when people who could speak in Tamil are not. However, if you think about it, this is where Tamil Nadu is going.
Speak to anyone in chennai and you can't get them to speak in Tamil. Fix the people and don't blame the show.
The initiative should come from the people. When speaking with friends, if you see them mixing two languages, correct them. Its cool if people speak in english as long as they speak only english and similarly with Tamil.

Certainly Srini..if at all there is something wrong in this show, its this aspect of people trying to speak English which is boring to watch. I am also an NRI and I watch Vijay TV to hear my beloved Tamil and if they speak in English there also, i could very well watch any other English channel. why bother to watch Vijay TV.
