The Delhi High Court has declared homosexuality legal, which has the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community thrilled. Indya spoke to several TV actors who shared their opinion on the decision made by the High Court.
Aamir Ali: It’s one’s choice to choose their partner, why should there be any restriction? I am happy for everyone that will benefit from the judgment.
Narayani Shastri: The decision made by the HC is absolutely right. And why not? Every individual has a right to choose his/her sexuality.
Gaurav Chopra: This is long overdue. A human being is not free if he/she cannot make such a basic, fundamental, imperative existence choice. All talks of freedom, liberty, and equality fall flat if this choice is not there. I am glad that this has been realised.
Raja Chaudhary: We live in a society whose culture outdates most developed nations. Ours is a culture that has demonstrated sexuality at Khajuraho. Our culture advocates tolerance. So if the issue is being swept under the carpet, then legalisation should come into question. We should not be regressive.
Ashita Dhawan: There’s nothing wrong with homosexuality. We are all human and I am glad that they have been given their right to be free and live their life the way they want…with respect.
