Akangsha Rawat, who is the new Pavni in Palampur Express, says it is difficult to play the role of an athlete because of the effort involved in staying fit.

The actress says she always wanted to be a part of the show. ‘I followed the show on and off and always thought this role was very good and different. So when they offered it to me, I was stunned and said yes immediately,” she says. “But it is not easy to play an athlete. I was a runner in school, but it has been many years since I played any sport. I was told that I have to look good and perform too.”
Akangsha says there was some pressure on her, as people already had an image of Pavni. “My entry took place in a temple, and I got good feedback for it. My friends say my performance has improved a lot.” Akangsha has been preparing for the show since before shooting started. “I have read a lot about how stars work out when they do sports movies and watched many films. I have been doing workshops with Neeraj Kabir, and for the past week, we have been working on how Pavni will walk and talk, her body language, her thought process.”
The actress had begun losing weight even before the show. “I have been working out for two-three months and have lost 6 kg till now. It wasn’t for the show; since I was a little plump, I wanted to slim down.” Akangsha has been doing Explicit Circuit Training, which is an aggressive programme involving intensive cardio exercises. “I have to maintain my look, which is very difficult when you are doing a daily show. I take lots of protein and lesser carbohydrates. I have reduced 50 per cent of my salt intake, which helps to keep your body slim. I eat a heavy breakfast so I can shoot the whole day. I avoid carbohydrates after sunset; I only eat chicken, vegetables or fruits for dinner, no rice or chapatti after 7pm.”
Akangsha is relieved that her portrayal has been getting positive responses. She is thankful because she says TV actors get rare opportunities to play unusual characters like hers.
