I am really shocked to see Ganguly not figuring the squad for the next 6 ODIs even when Tendulkar is not there, Sehwag not in-form, further more Gambhir who was tried in so many times is now dropped. What now looks like the selectors are firm in not selecting Ganguly, I strongly feel there are less chances of Ganguly making a comeback. Unless Sehwag & Uttappa flops on all the 6 matches, couple of batsmen add to injured list with Tendulkar or Kiran More is not in the selection commitee.

:) meghana dont feel sad, I feel he deserved it as his performance was below par & also no player is above the game itself.
One thing that makes me feel bad is that selectors have different yard-stick for different players. If they(selectors) maintain consistency it will be good for the game & also promote youngters to scale new heights.

meghana, "Most Successful Captian", thats one real wierd comment to justify Ganguly's selection in the Indian team now. People just forget when he was at the helm the team had a bunch of good cricketers, and further most there was John Wright as the coach to turn things around. They all played their part to make the team successful, apart from couple of knocks, Ganguly didnt set anything blaze to steer the team to victories again and again.
Ganguly deserved to be kicked out of the team a year back, but politics kept him playing, but just when he was sacked from captaincy and jolted from his slumber, he woke up to start getting back to the groove, but it was too late and the new regime had different ideas...
I am against the way Ganguly was being treated, but the omission was always expected.

I do agree that Ganguly was out because he didnt play well... But then, going by this, what about players like Sehwag and Kaif ? This series both of them have not been impressive enough yet they are there! What do you have to say about them?
In that case, Ganguly can also be given another chance to prove himself!

meghana, I have already mentioned that I too really feel that Ganguly was treated very shabbily, and no player who has played for some years and served the country needs to be treated like that. But just imagine it this way, what if whatever Greg Chappel told about Ganguly was true & even the senior cricketers who didnt want their name to be mentioned supported Greg Chappel's claim. What could the selectors then do? They have dropped him, but didnt keep an inquiry and prove it to humiliate him rite. If that had happened we would all be cribbing that Ganguly must have been dropped not humiliated like this.
buzzbug, regarding Kaif & Sehwag, they are players in the middle level (neither youngsters nor old) and both are proven performers at the highest level, and no one can question that. The selectors believe that these two people are some of the individuals who will carry India forward until 2011 World Cup or for next 5-6 years, so they have been given some leash to prove their worth in the team as the team has been winning. I will not be suprised if either of them gets dropped pretty soon.
