When BCCI annouced yest that Zee Sports has won the rights for overseas telecast of matches played by India on neutral venues (organized by BCCI), I was happy just b'cas cricket will be back on a Sports Channel.

Its really a crazy concept of awarding telecasting rights to anyone who pays the most. I understand the marketing point, but that doesnt mean interests of the viewer must be put at stake.

Just imagine ESPN-STAR / Ten Sports Coverage, the qulaity of commentary, related statics and after match shows where we keep our TV still on to listen to the discussions even after India has badly lost the match. I didnt get to do anything like that during the India-England series just thanks to BCCI. Sahara One which is the private channel that was supposed to broadcast the coverage is not streaming in Bangalore, and we are forced to watch on DD. At an interesting point of the match DD still maintans the consistency of having ads coming in between, commentary in Hindi and after match show a biggest joke of all.

Might be I understand DD reaches the mass and since run by the govermnent needs to be like that , but as a viewer I would want to watch my sports shows on a proper sports channel not on some serial/movie/cartoon channel.

Hope others agree?

Yes Tommcat i do agree with you. The commentators on DD are so bad and boring! Also, i find its better to watch the crtics on the news channels like CNN IBN and NDTV than to watch the match! :(

Buzzbug: Rightly said. I missed out on that point. I sometimes stay awake after 11pm to watch a rerun of a debate show on a news channel rather watch post match debate these days.
