The team for the West Indies ODI tour has been picked. I really dont understand why they have picked RP Singh when he doesnt seem to fit into the scheme of things lately as better bowlers have been emerging around him. Instead they could've taken a second wicket-keeper or a leg spinner.
The need for a leg spinner is very important (I am not talking here about bringing back Kumble) but we do need variety in our bowling attack. I doubt we would go into the world cup with two off spinners, so the tour would've been right to checkout some young talent (esp. Piyush Chawla).
What do u feel?

Hi tomcat...
I completely agree with you... especially with the latter half of it that talks about the variety in bowling. Good that you have brought this point! We really need to bring in new talents and also, don't you think we will need to concentrate on getting more all-rounders?
Also, in the names that you have suggested... Ramesh Powar also fits in... I feel he is a multi-dimentional cricketeer, a batsman, a spinner and good fielder as well! Just that he will need to reduce a bit of weight ;) He sure is a better option than Harbhajan. As for Kumble, given his current fitness, he might not be the right option
Another person worth being on the list is Dinesh karthik. I know people might not agree with this, but I feel it is not fare dropping him out just because we have Dhoni...

Even after getting a lot of chances he has not utilized it. I think he is not eligble 4 that especially to go west indies.

he is just new he needs more time but he needs to improve on his batting and fielding if he needs to survive.

his performance has been getting bad each day. needs to concentrate on basics first and then play to his limitation. but as for now it wont be long the team sacks him.

Hi All
To ensure that this discussion does not become stale talking about the team wrt the ODI series that is over... let's take this discussion to the fast approaching World Cup!
Talking about the leg spinner option, as kumble doesn't fit into the scheme of things, why don't we think about making Tendulkar a regular Leg Spin bowler rather than searching for another one?
Piyush Chawla, though he has talent there is still a long way to go...
Amit Mishra and others were promising but for a short period of time and did not utilise the opportunities given to them!
If tendulkar is made a regular leg spinner, he is also solves India's problem of a good all rounder.
Even if he cannot contribute with the bat, he may very well serve the team with his bowling! (If his career prolongs upto the World Cup! :( ) Don't you agree?

First let Tendulkar prove his fitness. He needs to be in the team before we can make assumptions. Also I feel Kumble needs to get back to both versions of the game soon as India needs him.
