View Full Version : Why is West Indies Cricket struggling?

Back in 80's & early 90's West Indies were the powerhouse and the benchmark of cricket. They are to cricket as Brazil is for football. They had the flare, style, aggression & used to mesmerize oppenents even before a ball was bowled. I do feel beating West Indies then was a greater achievement then beating the Aussie Juggernaut now. But sadly West Indies arent the same these days, they are currently ranked 8th just above Zimbabwe & Bangladesh in the ICC rankings on both forms of the game.

The main reason I feel they are struggling is that they arent able to produce quality fast bowlers, which they had some many in their glorious days. Though they have been able to produce good batsmen time to time but after the departure of Walsh & Ambrose, bowling has always been very weak or ordinary.

What do you feel?

Hey I completely agree with you... and I feel that after the unbelievable victory in the second ODI against India (defeating us by a mere margin of 1 run... ) They sure have made a comeback!

Also, read in some magazine that according to Vivian Richards, this is one of the best teams that the West Indies have had so far... and is as strong as India!

So, seems like the fight this time (at the India tour of West Indies) is one among equals! Don't you agree?
