are cricketers overpaid?????

hi guys do u feel tht cricketers( all over the world and especially in india) are over paid or do u thk they deserve all the money we all know tht most of the them r millionares!!!! i do know they have to undergo lots of pressures and have to play all around the year and its not easy getting into the side also but i also feel tht they r overpaid wht do u guys feel

I dont feel (our) cricketers are overpaid.

Just because in our country where no other sporting person (apart from Sania Mirza) earn so much it makes them (cricketers) look as if they are overpaid... But also think of this, on any day our cricket team is one of the top five cricketing side in the (entire) world, thus i feel they deserve to be paid what they get.

Actually Aussies & English cricketers contracts are worth more than what Indian cricketers contract is. Sports persons in other sporting events such as football, tennis, golf, racing, etc ( in other countries)... get n times more money then what cricketers actually make.

But what really disturbs me that even though they earn well for their performance & also through other product endorsements, they call for less matches and the 'player burnout factor 'which I feel isnt fair.

What do you all feel about this?

CRICKETERS ARE NOT PAID EXTRA THEY WORTH IT, GO REACH TO THAT BENCHMARK WE NEED LOTS OF PATIENCE AND HARD WORK AND PLAYING IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN STADIUM MEANS SOME THING, WHO SO EVER SAY THIS THAT THEY ARE PAID EXTRA SHOULD BE SNED IN THE GROUND FOR PRACTICE AS THE CRICKETERS DO FOR ONE DAY ONLY , THEN THE PERSON WILL KNOW THAT Y THEY ARE PAID. OUR TEAM IS IN WORLD RANKING 4 AND WE SHOULD FEEL PROUD OF IT AND SHOULD NOT GIVE COMMENTS LIKE THAT THEY ARE OVERPAID. WE SHOULD STAND ALONG WITH OUR TEAM AND FEEL PROUD OF IT.

Hi seems strange all of you seem to be unanimously voicing the same thought. I do agree the huge pay does not matter... provided, we follow a uniform code for all!

Why don't we also provide the same for other sport? Agreed, that cricket is most popular in India, but is that the only game to be thought about?

Hi Buzzbug & Meghana,

Forget about endorsements, its a personal criteria. Let take one such case, Lakshman & Parthiv Patel, compare their records on the cricket field, you know who is the best, but yet Parthiv Patel has made more money through endorsements. So records & performance doesnt much matter here (however you need to be recognised first).

Also cricketers earn well because the board has marketed the game well. We need to note that the BCCI is not a government body hence has been able to function very well without any political interference.

Just a thought to ponder, we all are in various other fields yet we cry out for other sportsperson must also enjoy the benefit cricketers get. But actors/actresses were paid around 1 crore for 10 min performace at the closing ceremony of the CWG2006 at Melbourne when most athletes even give up sports to make their ends meet.

Do you really think cricketers are making more money & they dont deserve it?
