I have been seeing many articles around & people/ex-cricketers calling selectors have been wrong in not taking in Ganguly, Lakshman & Kumble for the current West Indies bound ODI squad. I strongly feel this is utter nonsense...
The team has been performing well and the problem we now have is the people instead of supporting the team, always criticize the team for leaving out these veterans. Surely I salute them for what they have done for the game, but now we need to look ahead not back.
If people talk about their past records and exploits then we need to get back even Jadeja or Robin Singh as even they have a good/better ODI track record. Ganguly, Lakshman & Kumble were given enough chances but if they couldn’t make it count like Dravid or Sachin then it must be them taking their places for granted and the selectors are not to be blamed for taking bold decisions.
What do you feel about this?

I think we have already discussed abt ganguly so forgetting him for a while. I think lakshman is one the best talent in the entire world i feel we have not used him eneough he deserves his chances though he is not consistant eneough its fair to give him another chance and kumble........... u have a bowler who is consistant with his wickets,is economical can bowl 10 overs on any surface what else do u want!!!!! as far as his age is concerned and preserving him for test cricket, i thk its entirely his decission!!!! if he wants to play one day cricket he shd be given his chances!!!! if we have the talent y not use it????

a lot of people in the current team have been given more chances than they deserve. ganguly, lakshman, and especially kumble still have a lot they can give to the team. sometimes i'm inclined to think they've been given a raw deal and left out....

hi kk196 & meghana,
who are the persons on the current indian team blocking the places of saurav and vvs laksman? is it sehwag and kaif? if thats the case, dont you feel they are much younger with proven track record and persisting with them for some time, we can have two good players for the future? everyone needs to know saurav and vvs laksman where not cold shouldered when they were performing. also sports is not a place where we can count on experience without performance, as when it matters we may not get a second chance. saurav and vvs laksman are great and even tomorrow they can make a comeback but as for now the team has been performing well and they need to push for chances with good domestic performances.

None of these players r going to play well. We can't trust on them at this stage. All the players r playing well now. They should not disturb this team. All these 3 players r not in a good form. Especially in west indies they can't do much more. All these players have proved their talent only in india

it's not fair to say that we cant trust them. there's a good chance that laxman and kumble will be in the test team. and that's only bacause they are dependable and they play well.

Hey Sanjubaba :)
Ganguly/Lakshman/Kumble dont fit into the scheme of things in the current squad, but you can never ever say they cannot be trusted. They are proven performers and still have cricket left in them. They need to up their level in all departments of the game to reckon for a comeback.
