Dear All,

Rahul Dravid is the new Indian captain. What is important about his news is that he is full time captain for entire series against Srilanka and South Africa.

Now he need not worry about part time jobs.. he can concentrate more on his captaincy and batting..

I'm sure that he will achieve more than what ganguly has contributed to indian cricket.

Wish him and the indian cricket team all the best.

i disagree with u pramod because i think ganguly is ythe best ever indian captain and has some aura associated with him which sadly not there in dravid. He can't make players like saurav has done. Remember, yuvi, zaheer, kaif, bhajji, pathan all are star just because of saurav.

yuvi- selector drops him earlier, it was ganguly who defended him and got back into team

zaheer- zaheer was 'labelled' injury prone but it was ganguly who defended him all the way

bhajji- doosra controversy, saurav was there every time in support of him

pathan- confidence given by saurav, playing him against aussies at aus when nobody thought he will play.

i agree saurav is not playing well with bat but captaincy wise he is the best main the house.

Dravid, tremendous batsman but not a good captain

Dear Vipin,

What ganguly has done to Indian Cricket is not on his own.. It was the co-ordination between him and Dravid. Both players are aggresive and both tasted success in thier first test match. Both have a tremendous record but Dravid is one shot ahead of ganguly. It is too early gauge Dravid's potential as captain. He was made part time captain. And the pressure of part time skipper is more than a permanent captaincy. And it was not ganguly alone who supported young guns.. it was the job of vice captain Dravid also. And now its Dravid turn to build a new young team for the World Cup 2007. And i'm sure he will taste success very early in his carrier. The GANGULY ERA is History.. Its new DRAVID ERA

Mark my word mate, ganguly will lead the men in blue at carribean in 2007.

after sl and sa series, i bet u will say with your mouth that dravid is not good enough for captaincy

Dravid might captian now & Saurav later, but I feel both of them may not be there as a captain in the World Cup. With Greg Chappel open about instilling fresh blood and creativity I wouldn't be suprised in seeing Kaif or Sehwag lead then. I know this sounds funny... But I think both Saurav & Dravid lack creative thinking, they both are very traditional block heads, though Saurav is better (negative balling startegies)...

The best one-day captains we had would be Azhar & Jadeja...

But 2007 is still a long way off, who knows Dinesh Mongia or V V S Lakshman is there at the helm :)

no way. there is only two way fight for a time being that is between saurav and rahul and by the way greg chappel is not a god and cannot decide these things

Dear Vipin,

Dravid has proved his captaincy. And now saurav has to work hard to return to team india. The left hander place is already sealed by upcoming allrounder Pathan. And the team looks a perfect winning combination with a coach like greg who is not only aggresive but also has hunger for wins.. Keep up dravid

how dravid has proved himself as captain. he has just won a one match not a series, please wait for this series to over and you will see the loopholes in him. secondly u can't compare ganguly with pathan on the basis of one match.

lastly, team looks settled because india win convincingly but what will happen when they loose

Hi Vipin,

Dravid has proved second time in this series. And the first major achievement Dravid got is winning Toss for India. If u look at Ganguly's record, he won more tosses than any other captain. And toss is also very important to win matches.

toss can't win u matches. its player performance that counts and hats off to india, playing as a cohesive unit but i m still not sure. only time will tell

Hi vipin,

Dravid always had the qualities what a good captain has. But he loved his batting most and he has given 200% for the team. Whenever he was given a chance he was unsure about the role. But now he is fulltime captain, he will give his 200% for the team. And it was Dravid and Chappel who have agreed to continue with the winning team for the next 3 ODI's. And Ganguly's only ton in the duleep trophy does't mean that he has return to form. But that match was a domestic match and there are a number of players who have made lots of tons in domestic seasons. So ganguly returns he has to accept Dravids role as captain and has to play under him. But i don;t think so ganguly will accept dravids captaincy and will like to play under him.

Hi Vipin,

Today dravid-Chappel Combination did it again. Team India is victorious. So 4 out of 4..still doubting the consistency. U will soon change ur mind. And after this match i don;t find any place for Ganguly, as Raina and Venu gopal have sealed thier places.
