Facts & Findings about “Rawa” or “Rawa Rajput”.
“Rawa”, a Jatt clan or a Rajput clan has always been a point of discussion and still seems an unearthed fact. Although the clan structure in INDIA is so dense, but our committee tried to discover some facts and findings about the RAWA Clan.
Origin: In the absence of no great historian for Jatt or Rawa clan, there are no certain facts available about the origins of RAWA’s. But we have heared about two axioms about its original and here we are sharing with you…….
Axiom 1: Long time back, even before the Mughal emperors, there was an army regiment named “RAWAD”, like we had NATO in the British age. The name of the king who owned RAWAD army is still unknown. The army mainly had Jatt and Rajput soldiers and was posted in Western U.P & Delhi area of that time. It is said that these soldiers got married here with the War survived local women and the community collectively called as RAWAD and later RAWA.
Axiom 2: The other saying that is less likely to believe is …….. The century and time not available, but long time back, it is said that a Jatt community mistakenly went to get his boy to marry in a village in Western U.P and later after marriage found the girl and her family being a Rajput. When the fact came in light, it generated a huge dispute because inter-caste relations were like a huge crime in the age of racism being on peak, hence the Chaudhary’s from both community decided about a possible solution of this to being called as ‘RAWA’ and formed this new clan. And that is why …………
- Some gotras of RAWA’s resembled with of Jaat’s (e.g Attri, Baliyan, Chauhan, Panwar, Ruhela, Rana) and some with Rajput’s (e.g Tanwar, Gahlot, Suryan, Gangiyan, Kataria).
Please visit: http://rawarajputmatrimonials.com/search.php to see the list of RAWA Gotra’s.
- Mostly the RAWA’s with the Gotra’s resembled with Jaat’s are called as Chaudhary’s but as per the Nomenclature of Castes and Clans by INDIAN Government, Rawa’s are categorized as RAWA Rajput and RAWA Guys are selected and posted in Rajputan Rifles or Rajput Resiments of INDIAN Army.
Well, so far at least to me, It still seems lack of historian proofs about the origin of RAWA’s, however being called as Chaudhary or Rajput does not make any significant difference for the RAWA’s. They seems to have its separate and independent small community, separate culture and a religious theme of Hinduism deeply followed by them.

Main Gotras of RAWA: AAHAARI, AAHAARIA, ATTREE, ATTRI, BADHIYAN, BAHUBE/BEEBE, BALIYAN, BANKADA, BHARBHANIA, BUDHIYAN, CHANCHAL, CHANKATE, CHAUHAN, CHHOCHHAR, CHOBIYAN, CHOKAR, DABWAL, DAHARIA, DAHIBAL, DHAKIYAN, GAHLOT, GANDAHARE, RANA, GANDHARV, GANGIYAN, GANJIYAN, GATHOR, KAKTIA, KAPASIYA, KARKACH, KATARIA, KHER, KUSHVAH, LAAKIYAN, MAADHIYAN, MANAV, MOGHA, ODIYAN, OJLAYAN, PAATLAN, PANWAR, PATHARAN, ROJHE, ROJHIYAN, ROLIYAN, RUHELA, SURYAN (SURYAVANSHI), TANWAR, THAKRAN, TONDOK, UDIYAN, UJLAYAN, VASHISTAN, VIBIYAN.
Population: N/A (Do you know?).
Lastly, whatever you are not being called or called, “Chaudhary” or “Rajput”, does not make a difference as you all must be proud of past, present and make future of your kids bright bringing some innovative ideas into discussion rather than arguing over clan.
If any of you have any further information about RAWA, that might or might not resemble with the one presented here, please feel free to share.
