italy has won the wc2006, but do u think it was the better team all throughout the tournament to win? cas i remember creating a thread http://forum.indya.com/showthread.php?t=4432 here asking who will win the wc but not even one voted for italy. :)

i strongly feel the league stage was ordinary football by italy, in pre-quater they had all the luck in the world to get against fighting aussies by scrapping through a penalty, they were very lucky to meet ukraine (the weakest of sorts compared to all the other 7 seven teams in quaters), but they played as worthy champions against germany and followed it up a strong performance in the finals even though the odds were against them in the start of the final.

i think germany & argentinna played far better football, but didnt play the most when it mattered.

Defenitely, the italians played well and they deserve this. No one can ignore the way buffon and cannavaro played especially aganist host team Germany.

i think everyone underestimated Italians to go the distance, everyone were behind the Brazilians for their flair & riches of talent they possesed, but sadly all came to bite the dust. Italians believed in themselves and played well as a team and always played to their plans.
