How did ‘Kasamh Se’ come your way?

Prachi:
I was studying in Pune where I also attended a modelling workshop. I learnt about the Balaji auditions and came to Mumbai for it. I was extremely lucky to have been selected.

Arunima:
I came to Mumbai for studies. After my post-graduation, I was looking for a job. When I did not get a satisfying one I thought of giving acting a try. I did a few episodes of ‘Remix’ before the Balaji auditions took place and here I am.

Roshni:
I have been hosting ‘Cinemascope’ on Zee Music. I was waiting for something worthwhile to happen when the Balaji auditions came up. I was lucky to have got selected.

How similar are you to the characters you play?

Prachi:
Here I play the eldest sister whereas I am the youngest at home; otherwise I am a lot like Bani. I am as emotional and value relationships above anything else.

Arunima:
I am not at all similar to Rano. Rano is studious, while I am not all that serious. I think Rano is a hard-line character because she bottles up her emotions which make her rude and angry. I am more chilled-out and express my feelings easily.

Roshni:
I am unlike my character. I value love more than anything else whereas Pia thinks money is all- important. She is an attention-seeker whereas I am an introverted person.

What makes ‘Kasamh Se’ different from the rest?

Prachi:
It has a fresh look and feel. The cast comprises of new faces but the approach is very sensitive and they are all women of substance.

Arunima:
It deals with different shades of womanhood. Each character has been etched with fineness and grace. This will vow the audiences definitely.

Roshni:
It spotlights the journey of three young girls who mature into women. The show starts with a major crisis happening in their lives. This is bound to win the sympathy of the audiences.

Not many know that Rajshri Thakur (Saloni in Saat Phere) was the first choice in the casting of Mamta for the lead role. But the makers realised that she was too intense for the role and hence they decided to cast Neha Mehta instead.
At the same time, Anchal Dwewedi, who plays Kaveri in Saat Phere was offered the role of Tanisha ( the negative character in Mamta). Not to forget both Rajshree Thakur and Neha Mehta are doing a good job in their respective shows on Zee.

Kasamh Se - A 'K' with a difference!


It's hard to believe, but it's true. A Balaji show that doesn't have a sati savitri bahu!


Instead, there's a young lady whose principles are a little difficult to comprehend! But what the hell, Kasamh Se looks good, because it tells a simple story...simply. There are some powerhouse performances and a surprise package who pull off the show easily enough.

Prachi Desai is good as the matriarch of her small family, although there are times when she looks a bit stiff. But again, this is her first tryst with the small screen and she can only get better with time. I can't help but say that Roshni Chopra (as Pia), should cut down on her over acting. A pretty lass, she is sure to go a long way, if she stops making those over the top gestures (specially during her intense scenes with Pushkar) that make her look fake. Arunima as the brooding Rano is quite a revelation, although she doesn't have much scope to perform as yet.

The storyline of the show was quite interesting while Ram Kapoor and the girls were seen clashing with one another. But for some time now, the track has completely shifted towards the relationship of the girls with Pushkar, whose status in the Walia household is a little vague.



Naman Shaw: great start!
The surprise package of the show is undoubtedly Naman Shaw, who plays Pushkar. He's good to look at, and he can act as well! He keeps the narrative going with complex relationships with the leads -- Bani and Pia. What's a little irritating is the fact that Ram Kapoor's character is still on the sidelines. He comes into the picture only when a characters errs and has to be reprimanded! What's wih his love life with an actress? Or his relationship with Pia, who urges him to wear a red shirt and he dutifully obliges? I thought he was the hero of the show?? Or isn't he!

Ashwini Kalsekar is at her bitchiest best, but I fail to understand this trend on television of showing married sisters living with their brothers. (I just happened to catch Zee's other new show Saath Phere, where the phenomenon recurs).


There are other characters who provide comic relief. Among them is Sudha Shivpuri, who must be heaving a sigh of relief after being given a chance to do something new after almost half a decade! She is good at what she does and all credit to Ekta for letting us rediscover what a pleasure it is watching Shivpuri enact.

Overall, the show reminds one of Balaji's other show, Kahiin To Hoga, which had initially started off with the track of the sisters in Kashish's household! The virtuous sister and her brat pack was the highlight of the show, till Sujal entered the frame....in Kasamh Se, the story still revolves around the sisters, but no doubt, it will transgress into other areas as different characters are introduced into the story.

Kasamh Se is a good watch, and like Zee's other show, Saath Phere, is quite likely to catch on with the viewers.

Come November, and Ekta Kapoor’s new soap about three sisters will air on Zee TV.

Called Kasamh Se, the serial will have three newcomers playing the lead roles — Bani, the eldest sister (played by Prachi Desai); Pia, the middle sister (Roshni Chopra); and youngest sister Rano (Arunima Sharma).

All three actresses were discovered through a massive talent hunt launched in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Says Sandeep Sikcand, the creative head, Kasamh Se, “The serial is the journey of sisters from a small town, Nainital to a big city, Mumbai, and how their relationships undergo changes with situations and time. It’s a touching, beautiful, tender love story between the sisters — the chemistry and bonding between the three of them.

The love and bonding doesn’t change but with the changes in situations, love assumes a different meaning. The three of them have different ideologies in life — for the eldest, love if the most important factor, for the second it’s money and for the third, her career.”

Prachi, who plays the protagonist, Bani, “is a totally fresh face. She has been born and brought up in Surat and did her college from Pune.

Apart from acting in school and college plays, she has had no professional training in acting. Prachi has a very cute face — what’s most striking about her is her strong resemblance to Padmini Kolhapure.”

The new serial will be directed by Anil V Kumar (who has been directing Kahin Toh Hoga since its inception). “He’s known as The Doctor by Ekta,” laughs Sandeep. “Whenever there is trouble, Anil is there to sort it out.”

The other characters in the serial are Jai Walia, a rich and powerful business magnate, in whose home the girls come to live in, his sister Jigyasa, (Ashwini Kalsekar who plays Misha in K Street Pali Hill), Jai’s girlfriend Sonali and a big-time film actress (Amita Chandekar from Piya Ka Ghar), Jigyasa’s son, Ranvir (Ali Hassan), and Pushkar (Naman Shaw) who is emotionally involved with Bani and Piya. “We are still searching for a good name to play the role of Jai Walia,” informs Sandeep.

Even though Prachi Desai plays the role of a subdued Bani in Zee’s Kasamh Se, the actress portrayed a very different side of her personality at a shoot on Wednesday.

Sources on the set reveal that Desai locked herself up in a vanity, van refusing to cooperate and shoot for the show.

Call for help

The reason was her displeasure over being asked to sit for a wedding scene, where she’s wearing a ghoonghat. Revealed an unitwalla, “Prachi wanted to rest and asked us to give her more time.

But the camera was ready and everyone was waiting for her. We tried to explain the situation to her, but she just went into the vanity van and locked herself up. Finally, we had to call the creative head, Sandiip Sikcand, and ask him to help.”

Added another actor on the show, “Prachi was shooting non-stop for the last few days. So her reaction was justified. She kept requesting them to use a body double, since the scene required her to be in a ghoonghat. However, they wanted her to shoot to make sure they got the correct body language.”

‘Stressed out’

When we contacted Prachi for her version, the actress said, “There is absolutely no truth in what you have heard. It’s like the many rumours that flaot around the sets.”

Sandiip gave his account of the drama on the sets. “Prachi was just stressed out from working long hours. The whole thing is blown out of proportion. She did shoot with us after resting for a while.”

Sudeep Sahir is back on the small screen after almost a year. Sahir, who played Ayushmaan after Vinod Singh was thrown out of the show, will be seen on television this month in Tony and Deeya Singh’s new show titled Jab Love Hua.

Punjabi shaadi

On the personal front, too, Sudeep is on a big high. The actor is getting married to his girlfriend in Delhi on April 29. “Yes I am in a really good place. I am taking the big step with my girlfriend Anantika this month. I have known her for more than three months and am very happy about my decision.”

Since both the families are based in Delhi, the wedding too will happen there. “She has done her MBA from London and is really a beautiful person. I am basically from Delhi, but settled in Mumbai for work. We are both Punjabis. The marriage will be a colourful affair.”

Village bumpkin

Taking about his new show, Sudeep says, “I am playing the main lead. The story is of a villager whose life changes when he meets a girl from the city. My look is that of a villager with a dhoti and a vest. The language is very rustic. I don’t think this kind of a show has ever been made on the small screen.”

Why did the actor take such a long break after Ayushmaan? “I wanted to take some time out for myself. In between, I did a couple of commercials and the Channa Ve music video as well. I met DJs some time in October last year and agreed to do the show after reading the script.”

Jab Love Hua is scheduled to go on air from April 24 on Zee.

Tony and Deeya Singh’s daily Jab Love Hua (Zee) is facing problems. Two of its actors —Manish Raisinghania and Asif Basra — are at loggerheads. And director Jeetu Arora (who has shot several Balaji shows) is on his way out.

Manish (Arjun) and Asif (Mirza) clashed at the Film City set last week. Required to play basketball for a scene, the two actors got into a physical scuffle. Arora had to intervene to separate them. “Good that Arora could manage to pull them away from each other, nahin to pata nahin kya ho jata,” says a source.

‘Authentic’ game

While Asif denied the fight, Manish told HiTLIST, “We were playing the game aggressively, lending authenticity to the character. We just got a bit carried away.”

Arora was forthcoming. “Manish and Asif got into a terrible fight that day. I saved the situation before it became uglier,” he admitted.
Revealed the director, “Manish and Asif have seldom gotten along. There has always been an undercurrent of tension on the set, when the two shoot together.”

What happened that day? “The scene required both actors to come close to each other, with aggressive expressions on their faces. Just prior to that, Asif started explaining to Manish how he should enact that scene, and Manish didn’t like that. He came and had a word with me.

I knew something undesirable was going to happen. They both pushed each other, and immediately, tempers rose. I called out ‘cut!’ and ran towards them.”

Arora complains that Asif had problems with him, too. “He used to improvise too much. At times, that was not required. I used to tell him that he should improvise in the rehearsals itself, so that the final take is not new to me.

However, he rarely listened. Recently, he improvised in a particular scene, and covered the entire screen. This time, when I told him, he threw a tantrum, saying I shouldn’t teach him how to act. I told him to pack off. He calmed down later.”

Arora says he doesn’t enjoy working with the Singhs. “Lately, I shot a scene, which the Singhs told me had not been shot well. My grouse was that I had been given very limited time to complete that scene. After some time, they stopped calling me. I am going to meet them in a day or two, and take my balance payment. I don’t want to do Jab Love Hua any more.”

Kasamh Se’s Jai Walia is undergoing a makeover of sorts. Those watching the Zee show, may have noticed a change in Ram Kapoor’s look on the show.

The actor, who admits putting on loads of weight, is on a strict diet plan to get rid of that extra flab. The puffy cheeks, and the heavy broad shoulders have given way for a leaner look.

Sources claim that Ram’s chaotic shooting hours made his eating hours go for a toss, resulting him in looking much older. “It was quite obvious that he had put on more weight than his character should have had. He started looking older than Bani and it wasn’t looking too good on screen”, says a source.

Looking fit and fine
However, the current Walia looks exactly the age bracket the show requires. “His look on the show now goes hand in hand with the track. He’s looking better and fitter.”

So how did Ram manage to lose weight despite shooting round the clock? “I have given up alcohol,” reveals the actor. Known to have a liking for a peg or two after a long day’s work, Ram has become a certified teetotaller.

“I know I had put on a lot of weight in the past few months. The main reason for this was my haywire meal timings. Initially, our shoots were chaotic and we would stay awake all night and then eat at weird hours. But now the show has settled down and it’s doing well, so life is going back on track.”

Gautami: Catalyst

Is it true that his wife Gautami, too, had a hand in pushing him towards a disciplined diet plan? “Of course, she is my biggest critic. She tells me when I look good and at times, when I look bad. It was evident to her that my weight had started showing on screen, so she talked me into getting serious about my eating habits.”

Dus kilo aur

A workout addict, Ram hasn’t been able to get back to his gym for weeks, due to the shoot. “Another reason for my heavy physique was because I gave up on my workout. That, added with the food I was eating, turned out to be a disaster for me.”

Kapoor is adamant on losing 10 more kilos. “I have started eating less quantity of food in small intervals. I think it’s more important to eat the correct amount at the right time. Also, I want to get back to my work out and make myself fitter.”

Doesn’t he ever get the itch to have a glass of whiskey at night? “No, once I have set my mind on something, I make sure I follow it.”

Is the salt and pepper look considered sexy? Well, at least this is what fans of matured and good-looking Hollywood hunks like Harrison Ford, Richard Gere and George Clooney have always maintained.

And now even Indian TV characters are sporting this new look. Looking at the dizzy heights to which the popularity of the dashing Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor) in Zee’s Kasamh Se, among women of all age groups has reached, it seems Indian women do not think too dissimilarly either. The middle-aged character’s charismatic personality and salt-n-pepper look is said to have driven the ladies completely crazy.

So much so that his fans were reportedly angry about the fact that the character’s grey haired look was toned down in the last few episodes. The buzz is that when the soap started, Ram’s hair was completely grey. But it kept decreasing gradually, and one fine day, it was fully gone.

When we quizzed the actor (Ram Kapoor) about his ‘whitener-disappearing-act’ he said, “When the serial started, we were a little confused about how much whitener should be used in my hair. And then it was gradually toned down intentionally. In fact, in one of the episodes, it was completely missing. But then it was by sheer mistake and now you would see it back in my hair.”

But sources connected to the show say that this change lead to protests all over and went to the extent of even affecting the viewership of the show. The anger was over the fact that Ram Kapoor was trying to look young in the show by ridding himself of the whitener. This obviously must have given the actor and producers (Balaji Telefilms) a lot to worry about. And Ram Kapoor aka Jai Walia was back to where he belonged. It was decided that the whitener would be used for him once again.

So it was the viewers’ insistence, which forced Ram to go grey again. Shocking, but true! Women actually want to see Jai Walia as a middle aged sexy hunk and not as a young chocolaty hero.So what does Ram Kapoor have to say about the attraction that most ladies have for matured men? Does he agree that women like men with salt-n-pepper hair?

“Definitely. In fact my wife (Gautami Gadgil) swoons over George Clooney just because he has salt-n-pepper hair. I get so many compliments because of my hair styling in Kasamh Se,” replied a beaming (and relieved) Ram Kapoor. Well that seems to be a lesson learnt. Now the story, the track and the characters may change in Kasamh Se but one thing would surely remain intact. And that is Jai Walia’s salt and pepper hair!

He was supposed to be the celebrity guest on Zee’s Ek Main Aur Ek Tu on Monday, but destiny had other things planned for him.

Ram Kapoor, who plays Jai Walia on Kasamh Se had to rush to the hospital, as his wife went into labour.

He rushed Gautami to the Breach Candy hospital where she delivered a healthy baby girl around 6 pm on Monday evening.

“I think Sia looks just like me. But there’s no way to tell who she will eventually end up looking like, as babies’ features keep changing. But for now, people around me are saying that she has my looks.”

No paternity leave

The actor is feeling bad that he cannot spend time with Gautami in this delicate time as, “I am hard-pressed for time, since we are shooting everyday. I can’t keep myself off work as the telecast will suffer.”

An actor close to Kapoor said, “Since he has joined Kasamh Se, Ram hasn’t really been able to spend time with Gautami. But now with the baby coming in their family, he will have to take efforts to be there with her. I am personally happy for him, because I knew he was really looking forward to become a dad.”

It was papa dearest who chose the name for his baby girl, “I decided to call her Sia, because the name is as pretty as she looks.” Does he know what it stands for ? “Not really, I just like the sound of Sia Kapoor.”

Shooting for intimate scenes can cause some awkward moments for actors. Prachi Desai, who plays Bani in Zee’s Kasamh Se, found herself in a rather difficult situation recently. She was supposed to do a love sequence with her co-star Ram Kapoor, who plays Jay Walia, where the two get drunk and end up in bed.

Already uncomfortable with the idea, Prachi became increasingly nervous about shooting the scene and tried to find ways to avoid it. Coming from a conservative family, the actress couldn’t picture herself in bed with a co-star. The mere thought of facing her parents after the scene, increased her anxiety.

Prachi’s tension was so evident that even her co-stars sensed it and tried to help her to relax. But that was of no use. As a result, her nervousness was visible at the time of shooting.

Prachi fumbled and couldn’t get her lines correct, so much that she had to give 20 consecutive retakes before the shot could finally be approved.

When contacted Prachi said, “I was nervous. Really, it was difficult to do that intimate scene. I am just 17 and this is the first serial I am acting in. Obviously, it will be difficult for any 17-year-old to do such a scene. Actually I had it made it clear the day I joined the serial that I will not do intimate scenes.”

Then what made the actress change her mind considering her discomfort and her apprehensions over her parents’ opinions? “The script required it. Otherwise I wouldn’t have done it. And I was promised that the shot would be filmed aesthetically and there would be nothing vulgar about it,” she said.

The Consummation of Marriage Scene will take place partly today and partly tomorrow....infact, Khabari is herself not sure on this.....from what she told me, it seems like the scene will begin today and end tomorrow!
Don't worry, the scene is not anything so dramatic and hot as the Mumbai Mirror Article has described.....It is a very intimate and romantic scene, as a Love-making scene should be....but nothing that you cannot watch with your Family and Friends....For God Sake, this is Kasamh Se and not Sex and the City!
Bani is not going to get drunk on her own account, she will accidentally take Jai's drink which is laced with some stupid love potion concoted by that witch Roshni! (Lozl...how poor Cobra's plan will backfire!)
Both Jai and Bani are going to be shocked out of their wits the next day morning....I know their individual reactions also, but unfortunately, that has to be withheld, because it is a surprise!
The Confession of Love scene has nothing to do with the Consummation of Marriage Scene....Both are totally different! Jai will confess his Love later on.....but today, Bani might utter something in her intoxication (Again not too sure on this......I am just letting you guys know whatever information I have with me right now)
The Money Issue will get resolved today......
Jai and Bani's relationship is only going North after this, as in it will be on an upward spiral till the Mystery comes out....and by then, Jai will be hopelessly caught in the spin of his wife's love!

The Consummation of Marriage Scene will take place partly today and partly tomorrow....infact, Khabari is herself not sure on this.....from what she told me, it seems like the scene will begin today and end tomorrow!
Don't worry, the scene is not anything so dramatic and hot as the Mumbai Mirror Article has described.....It is a very intimate and romantic scene, as a Love-making scene should be....but nothing that you cannot watch with your Family and Friends....For God Sake, this is Kasamh Se and not Sex and the City!
Bani is not going to get drunk on her own account, she will accidentally take Jai's drink which is laced with some stupid love potion concoted by that witch Roshni! (Lozl...how poor Cobra's plan will backfire!)
Both Jai and Bani are going to be shocked out of their wits the next day morning....I know their individual reactions also, but unfortunately, that has to be withheld, because it is a surprise!
The Confession of Love scene has nothing to do with the Consummation of Marriage Scene....Both are totally different! Jai will confess his Love later on.....but today, Bani might utter something in her intoxication (Again not too sure on this......I am just letting you guys know whatever information I have with me right now)
The Money Issue will get resolved today......
Jai and Bani's relationship is only going North after this, as in it will be on an upward spiral till the Mystery comes out....and by then, Jai will be hopelessly caught in the spin of his wife's love!

Roshni is going to get the shock of her life when she sees Bani, ahem, coming out of her bedroom, the morning thereafter.......Serves that Cobra right!

TV actors passing out on the sets, on account of stress or fatigue, seems to have become the norm. Recently, Ram Kapoor, who plays Jai Walia in Kasamh Se, blacked out while shooting for an important scene in the serial.

The actor tried to reach for a chair, but lost his balance and fainted. The shoot was put on hold for a while until he felt better. It's being said that Ram has been quite stressed of late, more so, after his wife, Gautami Gadgil's delivery.

The actor tries to pack as much as he can in a single day so he can spend more time with his new-born. It’s not unusual for actors to work beyond the scheduled hours. And the Kasamh Se unit in particular is working on a zero-episode bank. A few months ago, Roshni Chopra, who plays Pia in the same serial had fainted after shooting non-stop for 44 hours!

What’s really surprising is that no actor is compaining. Maybe with the sums they make daily, they prefer to keep mum.

Bani of Kasamh Se bought herself soft toys worth Rs 70,000!







As a school-goer, Prachi Desai was obsessed with soft toys. The actress, who plays Bani in Kasamh Se had a huge collection of toys in all shapes and sizes.

And now, at 17, Prachi’s fetish for soft toys remains unchanged. So much so that her house is full of huggable teddies in every nook and corner.

“When I was in school, I once saw this huge teddy bear in a store. It was 6 ft tall and extremely cute. I looked so tiny next to it. It was so big that I could’ve used it as my bed,” Prachi says. However, when Prachi wanted to buy the toy, her mother refused. “My mom explained that it was too big to take home. And it was expensive. Back then, we couldn’t afford to spend that kind of money on a soft toy. I was disheartened for some days but eventually I forgot about it,” she says.

However, with her new-found independence, Prachi can buy the things she wants. And finally, she bought herself a similar teddy bear. “I bought an identical looking teddy, but I paid an astronomical amount for it,” says Prachi. “I simply had to buy this teddy bear.”

In fact, she bought several other soft toys and ended up spending Rs 70,000! “My folks chided me for such extravagance but these toys are simply irresistible,” she says.

And guess what? All the toys are in pink—be it the teddies, bunnies, hens (yes, you read that right!), and there’s even one of the Tweety bird.

The entire cast and crew of Kasamh Se were recently in Dubai on a holiday-cum-shooting trip

It was a trip that the entire Kasamh Se gang was looking forward to. For Prachi Desai aka Bani, it was her first ever trip abroad. It was a first time for Naman Shaw (Pushkar) and Roshni Chopra (Pia) too. And giving them company were producer Ekta Kapoor, deputy creative director Nivedita Basu and the other technicians from the production house. It was supposed to be a holiday-cum-work for the actors but there was one guy who was working round the clock. Actor Ram Kapoor says that he didn't know how the day would start and end. "I was shooting non-stop. To begin with, Dubai was so hot that we used to get exhausted very soon. We'd start shooting at 2 pm and continue till 6 in the morning," informs Ram.

Well, it was the same with other actors. Prachi and Roshni would pack up at 10 pm and head straight to the venue where Ekta organised her party. The entire crew was put up at Hyatt Regency in Dubai, where everybody would party every night.

But while the others enjoyed after pack-up, Ram preferred to hit the pillow as soon as his work got over. "I had to put in extra hours because most of my scenes were either with Bani (Prachi) or Pia (Roshni). They'd do their scenes and push off early while I had to struggle with my solo scenes. Though Ekta would call me everyday and insist that I join them, I somehow couldn't," says Ram.

Naman and Roshni would often tease Ram showing off their over-laden shopping bags to him. "It was only on the last day of the shoot, when I managed to do my last minute shopping. In less than one hour I picked up whatever I could for my daughter and wife Gautami," says Ram. But Ram isn't complaining. The actor tasted the fame and the adulation of his life in Dubai. "I didn't know the show is so popular in Dubai. I had never experienced getting mobbed."

Ask him what he brought back for himself and he says, "Great memories!"

Young Prachi Desai is on double duty, with her shoots and exams
Prachi Desai who plays the innocent Bani in Kasamh Se is otherwise a normal teenager who has to deal with exams and other such adolescent angst. Right now, she is trying to maintain a balance with busy shooting schedules and studying for her HSC board exams in her hometown, Pune.

How has she been faring at studies, given her long absences from college? "When the serial had just started, I could not appear for my exams as there was too much pressure. Even now, most of the scenes in Kasamh Se are between me and Ram Kapoor. But now the track can be diverted a bit, so that I can appear for the exams. As far as my preparation is concerned, obviously I won't be as good as the other students. But I'm going to go ahead and give it my best shot," she says.

Will Prachi continue her studies? "I am only eighteen. I know being an actress of a daily soap, I won't be able to concentrate on studies and I have to take each day as it comes. But my dream is to graduate in Psychology," she says.

pia's married!!!

Says an excited Roshni, "My husband Siddharth has promised me to make a film of our wedding. He wants to give it as the first post-wedding Valentine gift. He is a professional filmmaker, and is editing our wedding video to make it into a film. We had a 15 days grand Indian wedding with all the rituals performed from mehandi to jashan. He wants to include all my favourite songs to make it a pukka Bollywood movie."

Hey Ram!

Prachi states that it has been a great experience working with her co-star
Ram Kapoor. “Ram is a pleasure to work with. He is not like a typical star.
He throws no attitude,” she says.

Academics

“I will be giving my board exams this year. But I am not able to give any
time to studies,” says Prachi who is currently doing her HSC in Arts from
Singhad College, Pune. Apparently, she hasn’t taken any study leave. She
adds, “I am planning to continue my studies through correspondence. I
had always wanted to do my degree in psychology. But now there seems
no time.” Prachi admits that she misses college a lot but adds,
“Sometimes I feel what I have gained here is much better.”

Future

“I don’t have time for any other projects at the moment. After playing
Bani, I now wish to play a younger role. I would also like to try my hand at
anchoring a live teenage show,” Prachi shares. She thinks aloud, “This is
not the end. I wish to work harder and get bigger in life.”

Prachi Desai (Bani of Kasamh Se) recently met with an accident on the sets of the show. Prachi had to step out of a car after it had stopped. But, in what seems to be another case of fatigue due to a grueling schedule, Prachi was in a daze while shooting for the scene. The result being, she steeped out of the car even before it stopped and hurt herself..

Prachi is one of the youngest and also one of the busiest actors on television. The actor is simultaneously appearing for her higher secondary examination in Pune and shooting for Kasamh Se in Mumbai. Moreover, she is also preparing for a channel event that will happen in London next week.

Recalling a specific incident, he says, “The carnival is a very popular annual event organised by the channel.

This was the first time I attended it, and I was stunned to witness hundreds of people from across Europe coming to participate in it.”

Fan frenzy

Through out the carnival, Ram and the other actors had very tight security. They were not allowed to break the barrier and personally interact with the crowd.

During one such meet-and-greet, the actor realised he was being continuously followed by a young boy. “It was crazy as there were long queues of people waiting for hours to get a photo op with us.

Suddenly, I saw this young seven-year-old boy who had been following me everywhere I went. By the end of the day, I figured that he was just wandering alone and his parents were no where in sight.”

On further inquiry Kapoor figured out that the boy was lost. “It was scary because there was a huge sea of people around our area and the boy was not able to trace his parents,” says Kapoor.

So he took matters in his own hands, grabbed a mike and made an announcement asking for the boy’s parents to come forward.

Apart from this boy, Ram also had to deal with a female fan who fainted. She had an asthma attack because she couldn’t meet the actor.

We finally got her inside and gave her medical aid. I never thought I would experience so many different emotions while on this trip!”

Even though he had no time for shopping, Ram managed to visit his favourite store GAP and pick up some clothes for his daughter Sia. “She’s growing up really fast. I picked up some nice dungarees and shirts for her.”

Water pressure: Ram Kapoor

Actor Ram Kapoor of Kasamh Se has a bone to pick as he is terribly upset about being denied an off on New Year. Apparently, his mischievious side has risen to the occasion gloriously. He gets his own back by making a rule on the sets that any one caught napping will pay the price.

"Two or three times every week, people from his staff splash water on the unit members who catch up on their beauty sleep in their free time. Everyone on the sets is livid with Ram. This is no joke. He is a sadist!" the source vents his frustration. (Guess someone's been the recipient of an untimely bath as well!) The entire team of Kasamh Se is angry but they can't complain because he is the lead and they are well aware that he might get away with it."

Ram's conscience is entirely guilt-free with a solid defence, "I don't go around throwing water on people myself." The man does admit that his staff acts on his instructions. "Yes, my staff splashes water on the people who sleep on the sets. It's not fair that we slog day and night, while some people catch up on sleep. Everyone is paid to do a job. No one is getting money to rest on the sets. So, the rule should be applicable to everyone," says the self-appointed whipsnapper matter-of-factly.

The actor speaks on how difficult it is to play the plotting Pia in ‘Kasamh Se’ and life after marriage

Professionally she is on a high having experimented with hosting and acting. Roshni Chopra who plays the middle sister Pia in ‘Kasamh Se’ (Zee) has been noticed for her performance as a money-minded and a self-centered girl. The latest twist in the story is about Pia bearing the child of her sister Bani’s (Prachi Desai) husband Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor).

Roshni hai!
“It’s been an excellent experience playing Pia, which involves a lot of hard work. We shoot almost everyday and the script is readied just a day before. But overall it’s been a gratifying experience,” she says. She adds, “On the sets I am very close to Ram and Arunima (Rano). We have lots of masti bullying each other.”

Selfish-me-not
Ask Roshni if she is as arrogant and indifferent to others in real life too and she retorts, “I hope not! People who are close to me, including my husband, know that I am completely opposite to the character I portray.” She further adds, “I am a simple girl, neither selfish nor money-minded. I would never be in a situation like Pia. Very often, I ask myself how Pia can do this. I even get mails begging me to leave Jai Walia.”

No wonder she gets ample compliments from her fans. “People tell me that it is unbelievable how convincing I am. In fact, the other day even Ram told me that if he had ever been asked to play Pia, he’d never be able to do it,” Roshni says.

Just married
The actor, who has recently got married says, “Life hasn’t changed much. I’m still working the same hours. The positive thing is that I get to share my life with someone.”

It is tough being Prachi Desai these days. She has injured her foot and can barely walk. But the hectic demands of a television career means that she cannot take the time off and recover from her injury.

Besides, she is also determined to complete her education. That means a trip to Pune to give her Std 12 exams.

But she is quite happy these days. She bagged the Popular Choice Award (Female) at the Sansui Television Awards on March 10. Though hobbling on one foot, the 18-year-old is thrilled with the way her role as Bani in Kasamh Se has become so popular.

You appeared for your higher secondary examination in Pune recently. How did you fare?

I haven't done very well. I would have done better last year. I missed my board exams last year because I was shooting for Kasamh Se. Since the serial was new, I couldn't study. This year, I didn't want to skip my exams. But I hurt my right foot, so I couldn't study much. But my teachers supported me.

I want to continue my studies and do a course in psychology. It requires a lot of time and due to my schedule, I am not so sure. I have to check with some colleges where I can study psychology. But first, I hope I pass my exams.

Now a-days i usually model and act! It's really hard for me to balance everything in life. Exams, acting, modeling.

Kasamh Se completed one year this January. Recently, they were in Dubai. Now the buzz is that soon in mid-April Kasamh Se's team is going to Turkey. Kasamh Se is also taking a leap of five years in May.


Pawan Shankar who plays lawyer Tarun Sablok in the show says: "I heard that we would be going somewhere outdoors with the entire team of Kasamh Se. I'm not sure about the place. But so far, the production team has not informed us about it. However I heard we'll be going to Turkey from an unofficial source. Once earlier there was a plan of going to Turkey but I couldn't go as my cousin had come to Mumbai to visit me. So I had to cancel that trip at the very last moment. However this time let's see."

Naman Shaw who is playing Pushkar, the husband of Pia (Roshni Chopra) says: "I was told by someone in the unit that we'll be going to Turkey. But creative team has not informed us about it."

However Creative Head of the Balaji Nivedita Basu says: "We are not going outdoors for Kasamh Se anytime soon, as we went to Dubai recently. Nobody mentioned anything about going outdoors for Kasamh Se to us. According to me another show of Balaji will be going outdoors for shooting after two months."

Right now in Kasamh Se Tarun is in love with Bani (Prachi Desai) even thought Bani and Jai (Ram Kapoor) are in the process of patching up. Further Laxmi, Jai's niece is in love with Tarun. Bani has convinced Tarun to get married to Laxmi. However Jai doubts Tarun's feelings for his wife. Tarun is a friend of Jai Walia and is helping Bani to solve the murder case of Sahil who died on Holi.

This line from a very famous song aptly describes the state we all are in now – the imminent happiness of the KS Parivaar lies in seeing Jai and Bani together, but alas! this happiness is not vested in our hands. But in the hands of few chosen who are all hell-bent on destroying this happiness at the first place.

How? By propagating the idea of Bani marrying Tarun which is so sickening and horrifying and gut-wrenching,

The question that now arises is Why? The answer is pretty simple – cos we love Jai and Bani, individually and together, and we cannot bear to see these two separated from each other. Our bottom line is simple – keep Jai and Bani together, then cook up anything and we will be game to the unpalatable drivel that is being served to us on a daily basis!


But I guess we are all asking for too much – so we get this sudden plot of getting Bani and Tarun married. Yuck! Whenever this thought comes of my mind, I feel disgusted and I am sure most of my friends here would/ are feeling the same.

As per me, Kasamh Se without Jai and Bani TOGETHER, doesn’t mean anything. If these two are not together (I would propagate the lines – Munna and Munni reserved and preserved for each other or alternatively, Buddhha and Amma reserved and preserved for each other), then KS doesn’t hold any ground. Might as well name it Pia Se or Tarun Se, for all that I care.

I don’t want Krishna Walia calling anybody Papa but Jai. He deserves to be with his family when Krishna is born, Bani deserves to be with her husband when she’s in labour. How can you guys do this to these two?

If anything of this sort happens, I am definitely stopping viewing the serial and a solemn promise will follow – NO Balaji Telefilms productions for me, ever – NEVER!!!

We all had hoped that Zee TV which has a high reputation of serving high-class serials to its viewers would keep a sharp hawk eyes’ view on the serial’s development and progress, but it seems that this is hardly the case. Anyway, KS is already dragging itself at No. 10 in the TRP list, with Bani marrying Tarun, I don’t even want to think where it will disappear to. Or maybe this shock therapy to the audience will boomerang on the producers and the channel itself and serve them multi-shocks, with KS vanishing from the TRP chart (of course it will keep on dragging itself, but I would still prefer a Phoenix than a dragging carcass) and end up losing a whole lot of the younger and educated, high-flying target audience whose only demand is to watch a proper love story.

A daily soap will have its share of ups and downs but this? This is way too gross. It’s as if the very idea leads to plunging the dagger right through our hearts, mine’s at least.

We withstood ONS and other mindless tracks cos we dreamt of JnB coming back to each other, but after this, I guess there will not be much to even wish for. Yes, one may say that even after this rubbish, these two will come back to each other, true. But what about the respect that we have for Jai and Bani, the love we have for them? Don’t this matter for anything? Or it’s the TRP game only?

Jai and Bani needs to be redeemed and strengthened again, into their former selves that we all loved so and still do.

Whatever, if this track really goes through, one thing is for sure – I will be liberated fully from KS. Maybe I will then thank the KS Kreatives and BT for this. And of course Zee, how can I even forget the House.

And yes, for me Jai and Bani will always be preserved in the beautiful, golden, albeit sad, but gutsy moments that they shared till date. They don’t deserve this at all.

Bani’s marriage with Skunk will wipe away KS, no way.

Don’t even know what sway we have, if any at all, with our words on the higher-ups, but its time the right signal be recognized. It’s really hurting badly.

Kasamh Se is the soap it is today cause 98 % of the audience watch it to watch JnB together. Without these two together, KS will not be what it is today!

And we all will make sure of it.

KASAMH SE IS DEAD! LONG LIVE KASAMH SE!

Note : If you haven’t realized from all this drivel what I have written or intended to highlight, its that the frontline, mid-line and bottomline is that ‘WE DON’T WANT BANI MARRYING SKUNK, NO MATTER WHAT!’

Yesterday's episode, after along time, was something that we all related to, and it was that vintage KS that KS was a long time ago.
A very very long time ago.
Not that too much happiness didnt pose the pointer to most of us that an impending doom is on the way.

And yes, we are all so right.

The worst thing after the ONS, probably even much bigger the ONS, is on its way to unfurl - and most of us are right on this : Bani and Tarun's coming together and prolly marriage. And a Leap.

I am way too disgusted to even think rationally.

Finally, the dagger has passed through the heart, at least mine's.

But maybe finally, I get to wean myself off KS.

I feel like crying now, so guys take care.

They have finally managed to kill KS, the little heartbeats that could be heard will no longer be there.

Ram and Gautami Kapoor are on their second honeymoon. The couple is in Ko Samui (in Thailand) for the next 10 days to celebrate their fourth anniversary.

Interestingly, Ram has booked the same hotel and the same suite in Ko Samui, which he had booked for themselves on their honeymoon. The happy couple tied the knot four years ago.

"I am trying to recreate the feel of our first honeymoon this time. Gautami is extremely excited about the holiday and so am I. I've worked overtime to finish all my work so that no one complains later. In fact, I’ve hardly been able to even see my family in this time,” Ram says about his commitments.

“This holiday will be extra-special as we have our daughter with us, so it will turn out to be a family get-together of sorts," smiles Ram Kapoor at the thought of his nine-month old daughter accompanying them.

Meanwhile co-actors on the sets of Kasamh Se are missing Ram tremendously, for all the pranks he plays on people. Ram has know for his wacky sense of humour.

His closest co-star, Prachi will miss him most."I am missing Ram. He is always up to mischief and his sense of humor is just too good. When he is around no one gets bored, so the next 10 days we are sure to miss having him around. I miss watching him throw water on people who doze off on the set," says Prachi aka Bani in Kasamh Se.

Arunima Sharma may be the sister of well known actress and model Dipannita Sharma but she never needed to use her famous sibling's name to make her way into the television industry.


The actress who presently plays the role of Rano in Kasamh Se and Sonu in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki talks about her journey into television and being Dipannita's sister. Arunima shares a typical sibling relationship with sister Dipannita and the two are so different that Baliji was never even aware of their relation.

"Dipannita is like any other sister; we are like any other siblings. We are nothing alike. She is very simple and I'm not. There are so many memories we have together. We used to wrap ourselves together in one blanket and try to walk together. We ended up on the floor! I'm the one who was naughty while she is very calm and never as glamorous as she is on screen. She has more patience with me than I could have! Even my production house was completely unaware we were sisters. They came to know that I was Dipannita's sister after I started working with them. I stayed with her before I got married and now we try to visit each other's places though because of our hectic work we can't manage often."

Arunima has previously done a cameo role for 20 episodes of Remix on STAR One and two episodes for Rehaee. She is originally from Assam and came to Mumbai in 1997. The actress has completed her B.Sc from Sophia College and her M.Sc from SNDT College. She lived with her sister until three years ago when she married her college sweetheart.

Anunima says, "We met in my college. He proposed to me then and we got married three years ago. He's working in an MNC."

Arunima talks of her experience with Ekta Kapoor:
"I shot my portfolio with Vinay Roy and started distributing my pictures to different production houses. Balaji saw them and contacted me for the role. I did my auditions and screen tests after which Ekta called me and the others and narrated the whole role. She did it so well that we all understood very quickly. I got the role and now I am signed on yearly renewable contract with Baliji.

The busy actress, who confesses that "Rano is not at all like me!" is not interested in being center stage of the serial:
"I'm happy even if I get one or two episodes every week. What is important to me is the performance. In Kahaani too I am getting fewer scenes but I don't mind. I'm happy now and I don't want to do any more daily soaps because with Kasamh Se I am busy enough!"

She follows the strict Baliji code of keeping mum of the happenings in the script:
"The mystery of Sahil's (on-screen husband in Kasamh Se) murder is going to be big surprise for our viewers as well as each one of our cast! In daily soaps the actors hardly know about twists in their roles and the story."

After almost all Balaji shows (especially on Star Plus) succumbing to leaps, it's time for it's baby on Zee, Kasamh Se, to take a five year jump.

The track aired currently highlights the burgeoning of a love triangle between Karan Sablok (Pawan Shankar), a pregnant Bani (Prachi) and Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor). And if the buzz is to be believed, the unit will be flying to Turkey which will pave way for a five year leap.

This raises many thoughts in our anxious mind! A) Will Jay Wali don more silver streaks to his already grey hair? B) We assume Bani will be the youngest on-screen mother, right? C) With both Pia and Bani bearing Jay's kids, will the new track focus on a clash between these step-kids for Mr's Wali's jaydad?

She was just lost in the time when he again married her on their way to airport when he was going to london and she just could not forget the look and emotions in his eyes when he said bye to her and what she has felt after he left her and now she was having dreams of a great life with him and now she will be in true sense his life partner Mrs. Jai Walia and they will be starting that will be built on trust, love, understanding and she promised herself that now they will try to communicate with words along with their eyes to prevent any other heart break or any trouble or misunderstanding and there won’t be any place for a third person except for their child Krishna in their life and was in her dream land, but she was also worried about the happenings of last few days and she was happy that there will be someone who will take great care of her and will believe her and will try to find out the mysteries that have started around her and just then she again spotted that burka man who came for a second in front of her and then was lost among the crowd, but she did notice the shoes the person was wearing and she was sure that this burka person is a male and is hiding his face with burka and then again all thoughts and fears came back to her making her more nervous and just then she heard the announcement of flight of JW and after custom check he was their in front of her in 45 minutes and took her in his arms and just took her off feet and swayed her in air and then kissed her forehead and then touched her stomach and said hello to his baby but not before waving to someone standing behind the crowd and then he told her about Tarun’s illness and after that they left for WM and as they were just gonna sit in the car they were stopped by DCP Ajay Rathore and when JW tried to ask him what is the matter he told him they were their for arrest for Sahil’s murder and then they just handcuffed Bani and took her away and when JW tried to intervene he was told that they have very strong proofs against her and no lawyer on this earth can save her from death penalty now as she is a cold blooded murderer. Bani was crying madly that she has not done anything and this is someone’s plan against her, but no one seems to be effected by her words and tarun was watching all this standing on a short distance. Then Jw in his RB style told DCP that u won’t be able to keep bani behind bar for more than 24 hours and I will get her out in no time as u don’t know who I am and with that he just asked driver to drive him to WM as soon as possible.
When he arrived at WM he came to know about pia’s condition from karuna and at that time when he inquired about her whereabouts karuna told him that she has gone to market for some shopping and then JW told everyone about what happened with bani and she has been taken to jail and he said he will ensure that bani is back ASAP and then he called up a number of lawyers and a number of people and gave instructions for bani’s case to them. Bani’s bail was not possible as next two days were Saturday and Sunday and after that three weeks have passed but bani could not get bail as there were substantial evidence against her and she plead to everyone that she has done nothing but has been framed, but no one listened to her and her younger sister rano has also turned against her and just wanted revenge from her for killing sahil. Bani was too broken and now the case has taken direction when bani is going to be pronounced culprit and she will be getting life imprisonment or phansi for her act, but bani was the girl who has grown struggling problems and turbulence in her life and just don’t want to still give up even when Jw has told her that after seeing evidence against her he is also sure that she is culprit and she is the person who killed sahil who was like a son to him and has left her weeping and crying in her cell. She still has hopes left and when they were taking her for final hearing of the case where verdict was to be passed she just escaped from the court after dodging the police man on duty and just her thoughts were with love of his life and how happy he will be seeing her out of prison and how she will tell him truth about her being innocent and some one is trying to frame her and she was sure that he will be able to convince adi, daadi, maasi, karuna, luxmi, and nattu also about her innocence and just dodging police she entered WM from back door and as she was entering her room or rather her and JW room she just stopped in track as she can very well hear soft laughter from that room of a man and woman and she heard them talking about her, tarun, sahil and other things, but she just could not believe her ears and then she opened the door slightly and what she witnessed she just prayed that she should not have opened that door as opening of one door leads to complete breakage of a relation she thought to be her and all her feelings and emotions went numb and then again when she came to senses she can only feel the pain she was having in her heart after watching her beloved husband in bed with pia and talking about how they have made her a fool and got her framed her in sahil’s murder case along with karuna, laxmi, tarun, jigs and how they convinced maasi and adi about her being murderer.
What she has heard: she has heard how jai was telling pia that I am sorry pia that bani is again pregnant but u know I don’t care about her or her child at all, but sorry that I made her pregnant again but just could not control myself on that day even I tried to act ill, but it was so much cold over there and I just want one bed partner and I just wished u to be there at that time and I even left bani in middle of night to reach u, but that stupid bani came in search of me and then I had to spend my night with her, but u know how boring she is in bed, and I am sorry that she is pregnant and u know it was us who killed her first child but now I don’t want to kill the second one, I want this child to die in a way that it looks like a natural death and that won’t be hard because now she will be first shifted to mental asylum and then either life imprisonment or death penalty.
After coming face to face the cruel reality of her life she just stood their motionless for an hour but just then she heard someone’s foot steps and she just went behind the curtain and then just left WM from back door and just then she heard the news of her escape in TV and after coming out of WM she met pushkar over there who has come looking for her and then she told her to take her somewhere else police is looking for her and then after reaching a safe spot she told everything to pushkar who got filled with anger for pia and JW, and wanted to kill him, but bani pacified him telling this is time to use the brain but not the power and with that she just told pushkar to drop her near court and gave him few instructions and the next thing was the police found her in court near the spot she was believed to have fled, but now it looks like someone just injured her and she was lying unconscious on the floor and then the hearing was postponed for 15 days after seeing her condition.

She(bani) was sitting in her husband’s house in a very big house/mansion and was just watching Krishna playing and was wondering that what he will be feeling when she will meet Jw after 14 years as he was getting released from prison after completing 14 years in jail for killing his sister-in-law pia and people used to say that he was in so much love with his wife that he killed pia as she tried to create misunderstanding between husband and wife and bechara has to suffer. She was just thinking that only she knows how he must have felt when he was sentenced for 14 years and how hard she has fought and tried that he don’t get death sentence but only life imprisonment because she wants to see him until last and as her confidence, and her faith in life and in herself was dependent on the fact that she should be able to save him from death and she was successful in that and she is thankful to god for this.
Now after 14 years Jw came out of prison and he has died daily a new death just remembering that why he was made to suffer when he did not kill pia then who was the person who killed pia and framed him in her murder he just wanted to know the name of person and strangle him and he thought that after getting out his priority was to find out the pia’s killer and he just cannot forget the fact that it was bani his wife who saved him from death penalty as she was able to convince judges that she wants her husband and her child will also require him in life, so the judge has given him life imprisonment. He just could not wait to meet bani and their child and just the fact that he will be meeting them today brought a lot of happiness on his face, but when he came out no one was their to take him home and when he reached WM by taxi he was surprised because he has told everyone not to meet him for 14 years and now instead of WM there was gambling club there and as she tried to enter darbaan (doorman) pushed him and throw him on the ground to go to some other place for begging and just then JW spotted adi and just went to him and adi was surprised to see him and told him so u r out now, that’s good, keep meeting and left but not before giving him maasi and karuna’s address and when he went there he was given tea and some biscuits and told by them to keep visiting them and when he inquired about bani they gave him her address and then he went to meet her
While bani was sitting in drawing room seeing karan with Krishna, she just remembered the day when she heard everything what pia and JW were talking about and how she had made a full proof plan for destruction of WM, WI, and walia family. How the police got him lying outside the court and took her again to jail and then how pushkar sold everything he possessed and gave bribe to bani to come out of prison for a day without anyone knowing about this and how she has came out and went to JW’s room in WM and just murdered pia and left the pistol in JW’s hand taking care of the fact that he was a lefty and fled the scene and also spread some evidences to show that JW killed pia and then how smartly pushkar called up police station and how JW was caught red handed sleeping with a death body in his bed room of no other than Mrs. Pia Shukla and how pushkar has held JW responsible for death of pia that he killed pia because she was after JB and that’s when the only person who was with him for his trial was his wife and who has done everything possible for her to save him from death sentence. Little did he know was that it was all a game plan of bani take revenge from bani and JW for playing with her innocence and her emotions. And while the JW’s case was going on bani was released and was freed from charges of sahil’s murder as that was proved to be an accidental death and not murder and again this was favor done by pushkar for her and now today she was waiting for him sitting in mansion, seeing Krishna playing and was just thinking about what will be his reaction to new turns in every body life and just then he saw the man of his dreams and her real love standing in front of her with his opened arms and she just went into his arms and they shared a little sweet moment and just then servant came and announced that a person is there to meet them and bani just came out and went to meet the guest. Jw was overwhelmed seeing bani and just wanted to crush in her arms when she just saw 2 kids playing near by and just went to take the girl in his arms but just seeing him made the children numb like they have seen a ghost and they just run away saying bhoot bhoot and left JW numb of any expression and as he approached bani to take her in her arms he felt like a stab in his heart as he witnessed two arms coming from behind and encircling her and she was again back to arms of his dream person who was none other than pushkar shukla who was not only her husband but also they were copartner of BPS industry who has taken over walia industries years back and were the richest people of india and were among top 10 in world and bani introduced pushkar to Jw saying Mr. Walia meet my husband Mr. Pushkar Shukla and then Jw just got hold of her arm and telling her how can she marry pushkar when she is still legally married to him, to which he got the answer from pushkar that Mr. Walia ur and bani’s divorce happened around 14 years back when ur trial was going on when u signed a number of paper including divorce paper and with that Jw got shock of his life and it looked like that earth has been removed from under his feet and then she tried to tell bani he loves her and that’s why he killed pia and she has done this to him.
Bani starts laughing like a mad person and then pushkar also joins her in laughter and then they said Mr. Walia ur not the only one to make full proof plan and when Jw further questioned bani, she told him it was me and pushkar who were responsible for pia’s death and framed u, like u and pia framed me in sahil’s murder and they were laughing and laughing and bani told him how she came to know about death of her first child and everything and how her own daughter fears him most in this world as she knows u r worse then dracula and at that very moment Jai Walia suffered a major heart attack and was on his way to meet pia.
Meanwhile pushkar and bani were arranging for last rites of bani’s ex husband and were just trying to control their laugh and to act in a manner that they are also broken because of his death.

Roshni Chopra aka Pia in Kasamh Se recently got a pleasant surprise from her husband Siddharth. The actress was returning from Malaysia and was supposed to report to the sets directly from the airport. Her husband Siddharth, wanted to give her a surprise and came down to the airport to say hello to her before she left for the shooting venue.

But, as they say, man proposes and God disposes, the actress lost her luggage at the airport and kept waiting there for good two hours. "I was getting really late for my shooting. After waiting for two hours, the airport authority informed me that they have found my luggage. When I came out, I was pleasantly surprised to find Siddharth waiting for me with flowers and chocolate."

Roshni adds, "I felt really bad when I realised that he was waiting for so long just to give me the surprise. I didn't know that he was waiting; otherwise I would have come out. Although the flowers has wilted by the time I came out, I was

'Kasamh Se’ , the popular Balaji show on Zee is all set to take a leap of five years in the month of April and its main characters like Prachi Desai and Roshni Chopra will start playing mother to five year children. Some new characters will also be introduced in the serial, which will have parallel tracks in the show. According to senior creative director Nivedita Basu, the work on the leap will start from this week and it will be like that as was in the case of ‘ Karam Apna Apna.’

However, Prachi Desai, who is playing the pivotal character of Bani, is not very excited about the prospect of being a mother on screen. As her own age is only eighteen. As she says, ‘ I don’t want to age and play a mother so soon. I would rather play with the kids than mother them. I am sure it will be a challenge to play a mom at the age of 18. I am looking forward to the changes in the track next month.’

roshni chopra:

There is a sort of cold war going on between the leading ladies, Roshni Chopra and Prachi Desai, of the serial KASAMH SE being aired on Zee. They both want more visibility in the serial and more time with the leading man Ram Kapoor. So much so that they cold shoulder each other on the sets of the serial leading to very unpleasant situation for the other actors and crew members. As Prachi reacts, ‘ We behave like two professionals on the sets and beyond that, I would not like to comment on anything.’

However, Roshni Chopra complains that no one from the whole unit of KASAMH SE attended her wedding in Delhi, not even Prachi Desai, who is playing her elder sister in the serial. But Prachi attributes her absence at the marriage to tight work schedule and no ulterior motive was involved. Prachi has just returned from her holiday in Bali, where she had gone with Ekta Kapoor and other friends to celebrate the new year.

her successful serial. She isn't the first young TV sector to be put
off by the wrinkle-motivated demands on her persona. And Prachi is
certainly not the last to let out an antageing blast. She reveals
her displeasure rather vocally, "I hate the idea of playing a
mother. I am just 18. The mere of what lies ahead in the show gives
me goosebumps. It was quite depressing when we (Ram Kapoor and
herself) had a twohour narration with Nivi (Nivedita is the creative
head). She told me that we were to have kids. It looks so sad to
have a child with a 40-year old man when you are just 18. And so I
decided not to prepare for the role. These guys should be put in

Prachi appeared for her Board exams in March this year from the
University of Pune. She was only 17 years old when she started
playing Bani. Recalls Prachi, "I agree there are girls who become
mothers at 18 but rarely out of their own choice. They are either
raped or forced by family pressure to conceive. Out of 10, maybe
only one becomes a mother out of choice at that age. Secondly, I
have just started my career. To be made to do a role of a mother, I
think, is too soon for me. I tell myself that they saw me capable of
doing this and hence have offered me the role."
If she's so appalled, then why do it? "Soaps show what the
audience wants to watch. I come from a middle- class background and
the scenes that I do with my screen-sisters, at times, are what
actually would happen in a middle-class house. It's just that the
scenes are a little exaggerated, with lots of drama. But then, if
there's no drama then there would be no fun, right? I guess soaps
are all about what people really want to see."

Ronit Roy has planned a big surprise for his fans out there. Balaji's 'Mr Dependable', who recently replaced Mohnish Behl in Kayamath, will now be seen playing a significant role in Kasamh Se. After the show takes a five-year leap, Ronit will make his entry in Kasamh Se as an NRI businessman who comes to India on a mission. The actor will be paired opposite Prachi Desai aka Bani in the coming episodes. Ronit, who already has his hands full with shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kayamath and now Kasamh Se, will don a trendy look in the show.

Says Ronit, "I play the role of Aparajit Deb, a rich and ambitious man, who has been a winner all his life. My character is a subtle blend of being rigid, flamboyant, mysterious and stern and I am sure, it will grow on people gradually. I cannot divulge any more details. I am really excited about this role. Since my character is that of a Bengali NRI, I plan to speak in Bengali sometimes, although with an Anglicised accent."

So how does he divide his time among his four big shows? "The endless hours of shooting get a little hectic but there's good work happening. I love my work and after a long time I am getting to do something different. Kasamh Se is a good unit to work with and Ekta, along with the scheduling team, has given me enough time for each show," says Ronit.

Talking about the plot, Prachi says, "Aparajit Deb (Ronit Roy) enters my life at a point when I am completely shattered after realising that it was my sister Pia (Roshni Chopra) who betrayed me and was responsible for all my troubles. It is Aparajit Deb who will help me take revenge on her. I am sure it will be fun to work with Ronit as I know him so well. Ronit is my neighbour in real life and now I will get an opportunity to know him better as a co-actor."

The Past: The story started with three sisters in Mount Abu: Prachi Desai aka Bani, Roshni Chopra aka Pia and Arunima Sharma aka Rano. The three of them move to Mumbai to take shelter at Jai Walia's place. Although the story kick-started with the three sisters, it eventually focused more on Prachi. As the story traces the fate of a small town girl, the look was essentially a typical salwar kameez look. "Initially, what I was wearing in the show was what every small town girl wears in their day-to-day life. It was a very girl-next-door look. Frankly, the jeans and top look doesn't evoke empathy from the audience. The salwar kameez look did the much-needed magic," says Prachi.

The Present: Circumstances cause Bani to be admitted to an asylum. "The people who are admitted to asylum have to be in uniform. So, I wear a sari. The response I have got so far for this look has been really amazing," she says.

The Future: As the show is taking a five-year leap, there is a lot of speculation regarding her future look. The kink though is that Prachi is fed up of wearing the sari, and now wants a modern look. Ironically, the proposed storyline wants to show her as a Durga, who will be taking revenge from the people who have betrayed her in the relationship game. Hence, they want to give her a sari-clad image again. When quizzed, Prachi says, " After the generation leap, I will be the mother of a cute child. I don't know what kind of look I will be given. They are considering both the looks." So will Bani be a babe or a behenji?

Ekta Kapoor has planned a grand bash at her new house in Juhu to celebrate the success of one her favourite showS, Kasamh Se, which recently completed a year.

Says a source from the production house, "Ekta is quite jubilant about the success of the show. It is a theme party, based on the colours, pink and blue. The party will begin at 11 pm."

Prachi Desai aka Bani says, "I have got an SMS from Ekta and I am really looking forward to attending the party."

When contacted, Arunima Sharma aka Rano said, "It sure will be a rocking party. But, I had no idea that it's going to be a theme party."

But, why are the actors being so tightlipped? "I think, it's a private celebration and Ekta might have her reasons for keeping it secret," Arunima added.

Naman Shaw aka Pushkar says, "I am sure we are going to rock till the wee hours. But, I am certainly going to miss the gambling, where I won a huge amount the last time."

Actress Roshni Chopra aka Pia in Kasamh Se recently had a funny experience on the sets of the show. It happened just before the actress was about to leave for Delhi, to tie the knot with her boyfriend Siddharth Anand. It so happened that actor Ram Kapoor and director Gary Bhinder decided to play a prank on her, so that she could go home with some fond memories.

Ram Kapoor recalls, "We were shooting at Madh Island. As Roshni was going to leave within a day or two, we decided to play a prank on her. Roshni is scared of every crawly creature. So, we caught a crab from the beach. Then I called her from her make-up van only to show a mail on my laptop. She believed in my silly excuse and came in. Meanwhile, our director Gary had the crab ready in a wine bottle. The moment Roshni saw the crab, she started screaming and jumping around. I shot the whole sequence in my digital camera."

The actress got married in Delhi last week and will be back after some time. Ram adds, "She is a wonderful co-star and we really miss her. I wish her a very happy married life."

Director Gary Bhinder says, "She is scared of insects. That day, we were sitting idle and enjoying our break. So, we wanted to utilise the moment by a prank on Roshni. We are expecting a big party as soon as she is back."
Roshni, who is in Delhi at present, was not available for comment.

Ronit Roy, the blue eyed boy of Balaji Telefilms, was once again injured while doing the much hyped death sequence for Kayamath. This time the glass from broken window pane went straight into his legs when he was struggling to get out of the car as required by the shot and started bleeding but the actor continued with the shooting after applying some medicine on the wounded portion. However, the saving grace of the occasion was that the shot turn out to be excellent thus relieving the cast and crew alike.

As the director Palat Jani explains, ‘ Ronit’s leg was hurt badly as a big glass piece went inside his leg when he was struggling to come out of the car. His leg was bleeding but he quietly continued shooting for the scene. I know he was in great pain and was bleeding profusely but he refused to waste any time. He has had a major leg injury in the past and to add to that he again got injured while filming this risky scene. He does not like sympathy for such things. It was a superb sequence and Ronit is a professional actor.’

Ektaa Kapoor, the czarina of Indian television, paid a visit to Lord Ganesha at Siddhivinayak temple last night to seek his blessings for her serials, an upcoming film and an original reality show. She has not left any stone unturned in her effort to make the generation leap of Kasautii Zindagii Kay a success and the shooting was held at spanking new sets located at the Kilick Nickson Studios at Saki Naka. The sets took about two months to get ready and it was personally supervised by Shobha Kapoor. As she says, ‘ I have given attention to detailing including fabrics that I got from Dubai. It’s the most expensive set that we have.’

Meanwhile, Ektaa has also been working on a new film which will be comedy and will have Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav and Anupam Kher. The film will trace the journey of these guys in a rickety chawl from being simple souls to becoming gangsters. The film is likely to hit the floor in the month of September.

She has also plans of launching an original reality show by next year and first of it would have only telly actors. Let’s wait for the original with fingers crossed.

But when I heard that I will be playing a schoolgirl , I was really excited about the role as I will be playing myself. My role is that of a student in Prerna’s school. Prachi will run away with her boyfriend. This shocks the bitter Prerna, who is in charge of the school.’

It may be recalled that Prachi Desai’s role of Bani Walia has been very popular with the family audiences and recently she was presented with the ‘ Pride of Gujarat’ honour in the New York by an Indian association of the USA. "

At a recent awards ceremony, actor Ronit Roy provided enough drama to last an entire evening. After guzzling down several mugs of beer at the cocktail preceding the event, a sloshed Ronit cut quite a silly picture of himself.

Although the cocktail party lasted for barely half an hour, Ronit made most of it by gulping down whatever drinks came his way. "As soon as Ronit came to the awards ceremony, he headed straight for the bar. He drank a lot," says an eye-witness. Ronit was seen hanging around with Sanjit Bedi.

Not just that, he was seen sneaking in a pint-sized beer bottle inside the auditorium (drinks are prohibited inside the auditorium). To keep it secure from fellow actors' gaze he had tucked it away in the back pocket of his jeans. However, we caught sight of the neck of bottle that was peeping out. Our source says that he kept taking swigs from that bottle while the award ceremony was going on.

The inebriated actor did not stop there. He went up to the stage and ended up making a fool of himself on national television (hopefully, parts of this interesting footage will not be chopped during the telecast). While giving an award to Gauri Pradhan, Ronit mistakenly addressed Gauri as his sister from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Gauri, in her customary curt manner, corrected him saying that she played his bahu not sister. High that he was, we're sure Ronit couldn't have cared less.

A source present at the awards ceremony says, "Ronit goofed up on stage by calling Gauri Pradhan his sister. Gauri quickly corrected him. Ronit was behaving weirdly, he was laughing hysterically. He was walking in and out (to drink) of the auditorium every few minutes. In between he stopped to pose for photographers every now and then. He was screaming at the top of his voice. It was obvious that he wasn't in his senses."

When we contacted Ronit, all he said was, "Not at all. I had a good time. It was a fun evening."Actor Akashdeep Saigal said, "Many people were in high spirits and were seen having a good time. Almost everybody was seen drinking before the awards ceremony."

For the uninitiated, this is not an isolated incident of Ronit's drunken behavior. The actor is known for his fondness for alcohol and often drinks till he drops. That's when he breaks into uncontrollable laughter, and generally loses his sense of decorum.

Don’t bother too much. Usually I am so tired that I hardly get time to think on this. Plus I hardly go to parties. But if I have to,(pause), at least 15 to 20 minutes.

A beautiful red ghaagra I got for Navratri. My Mom chose it for me.
Do you like to have a certain style of your own, or do you simply follow the trend?

Again, I don’t really bother ( giggles). I am more of a comfort person, and dress up as I feel comfortable. I don't have any style as such, I am not a stylish person. I was too young to go into fashion earlier, and now I am too busy and too tired to think about dressing myself up (spoken like the simple girl she is !)
How colour conscious are you?

Not at all, I am not choosy. But yes, I don't like loud colours- no gaudy or shiny shiny stuff. I prefer light and bright colours.

Roshni Chopra aka Piya of Kasamh Se is shooting without make-up these days. Reason? The actress had to undergo an eye surgery recently to get rid of a cyst that had formed under her eyelid. Interestingly, the surgery was done by her co-star Ram Kapoor's sister-in-law.

An unwanted cyst under her eyelid was giving a lot of grief to Roshni and the actress was in pain for quite some time. Apparently, the cyst was an after-effect of the loads of eye make-up that Roshni normally applies on her eyes and face while shooting.

Says Roshni, "It was really disturbing as I could not shoot properly because of the constant pain.

It was Ram who came forward and suggested that I visit his sister-in law, who is an eye surgeon at Hiranandani Hospital. I am absolutely fine now after the surgery. It's only that I have been asked to manage without make-up for some time."

But Roshni is finding it really difficult to shoot without make-up. She says, "Maintaining continuity is an issue in a daily soap, but I can't help it at the moment."

Twenty-somethings are the flavour au courant of television

PLOTTING revenge against the Walias can wait. Bani, of Kasamh Se, is celebrating her success in HSC exams. With the serial from Balaji’s stable propelling Panchgani’s 18-year-old Prachi Desai to telly stardom, studies had taken a backseat for a year.

But the onscreen mother of two isn’t complaining about bartering teen fun for fame even as she packs her bags for a



10-day shoot in Turkey. Neither does her family. “We always wanted her do something different,” says mother Amita.

Prachi isn’t an exception. The heady combination of fame and lolly (six-digit pay packets for some) has several 20-somethings (like the leads of Kayamath, Jay Bhanushali and Panchi Bora, Pulkit Samrat or Lakshya of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Deepti Devi of Parivar —Kartavya Ek Pariksha) taking a plunge into television ignoring the killer schedule lore. With production houses churning out serials with the regularity of brushing teeth, and soaps adopting the 20-year leap format, it isn’t difficult if these young ones are equipped with right ****zpah. In fact, a number of NewGen characters of Kasuatii Zindagi Kay and Kyunkii are college kids.

What makes these actors’ task easier is a search for “fresh faces”. “Ekta (Kapoor) prefers taking new faces. They don’t come with any baggage or the label of another character. So it’s easy to mould them,” says Nivedita Basu of Balaji Telefilms. Echoes Ashwini Yardi, head of programming of Zee: “New faces bring in a freshness which viewers love. It’s not so much about their age, than their acting talent. With the number of daily soaps increasing, there is scope for such actors too.”

“Freshers can commit and give time. However, if the programme demands a veteran, we won’t compromise,” adds Basu. Interestingly, many of them happen to be from smaller towns. Take the case of Prachi, Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaan’ s lead Twinkle Bajpai, who comes from Lucknow or Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann’s Divyanka Tripathy from Bhopal. Twenty-two-year-old Divyanka is a star in Bhopal, among couch potatoes she is famous as Vidya. Needless to say, she’s enjoying every bit of it. “I’m having a great time in Mumbai, the set is like my extended family,” says Twinkle, all set to buy a house in Mumbai next year. That will be another accomplishment for the 21-year-old, in addition to her new Honda City.

However, Twinkle, who came to the limelight with Zee’s Talent 2005, like Neha Bamb, also 21, hasn’t been able to complete her degree.

They might have missed out on academia but TV has given them much more. “I feel so grown up,” says Neha. “I don’t mind the hard work as long as it gives me money.” Despite a monthly 25-day schedule, Twinkle claims, “I’m not missing out. I can reach out to so many while many youth of my age are struggling to find success.”

There will be a new twist in the show for which an outdoor shoot in Turkey has been organised. The team going to Turkey consists of Bani, Jai, Pia, Rano, Pushkar, Aparajit and Ranvir accompanied by the Big Boss Ektaa Kapoor.

Speaking about the trip, Arunima Sharma (Rano) says, "I have not packed my bags as yet as I don't have time at all. I think it will happen at the last moment only. I am excited about the trip and have heard that Turkey is a very lovely place. I like to visit new places and travel a lot. This time no member of my family is coming with me, but if given a chance I would like to go again with my husband."

She further adds, "We are going there only for a week, so can't say how much time we will get for shopping and chilling. I heard that Turkey is good for antic pieces and carpets, so I am planning to buy a few of them."

Naman Shaw (Pushkar), who is missing from the show and will be making a re-entry in Turkey says, "I am all ready to go to Turkey. Though they have not informed me about my track, I am excited about it. This is going to be my first trip to Turkey. I do not know much about the place but I've heard that there are some good beaches over there. I am planning to do some water sports like Jet Ski, river rafting, paragliding and many more there."

Prachi Desai (Bani), who got her HSC results today (June 8), is also very excited. (Prachi scored first class in her H.S.C exams) "I came back at 4 AM from Tirupati, so I hardly have any time to do any kind of preparation for the trip. My sister is coming with me to Turkey. I just visited the US and have done a lot of shopping from there. So I don't plan to shop for anything except for maybe antics in Turkey . With the team there we will anyways have fun though, that's for sure."

However, nobody commented about the twist in the story. It is said that the character of Pushkar is going to come back with a new look. Apart from this, the suspense about Aparajit and Jai is also going to be revealed

It's time for Balaji-deprived Pakistani housewives to rejoice. Cablewallahs needn't fear the police for relaying K-soaps illegally to eager janta either. News goes that Ekta Kapoor has just given them the first official Balaji soap.

"For me, the big moment right now is Khwahish, the soap that we produced in Dubai for the Middle Eastern market. We shot it on neutral land since we didn't want any legal or political repercussions. It's already been aired in Pakistan. So far our shows were being shown illegally in Pakistan. Our Kasauti Zindagi Kay is huge there. Now we've given them the first official Balaji soap. And they love it," says Ekta.

The Pakistanis are really keen to meet Ekta. And she's planning a trip to Karachi and Lahore very soon. She says, "My creative director Nivedita Basu had gone to Pakistan. And she got a very warm welcome. We held a talent hunt for Khwahish in Pakistan. The principal male lead is from Pakistan. And now Khwahish will start to air on Sony in a fortnight."

Meanwhile, Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor are getting together to produce a reality show for Sony Entertainment. "We've just got a confirmation letter. It's going to be the biggest reality show ever in the country. I can't give out more details right now. But it's like nothing that has been done so far. I've waited so long to do a reality show. Sanjay Gupta and I wanted to get it right before getting it on the road."

The Ekta-Gupta Balaji reality show starts in January 2008.

A NEW WISH

Khwahish, Balaji Telefilms successful show for the Dubai audiences is making its appearance in India too. The show has artists from India as well as Middle East. There are two Indian actors in the show, Anju Mahendroo and Sumeet Sachdev. Initially, Eijaz Khan was supposed to play the title role of protagonist Kabir Khan, but he backed out, and Sumeet took over. Priya is Balaji's new leading lady. She portrays a strong minded girl in Khwahish. The family drama is about two Indian families settled abroad.

Marking a departure from her earlier shows which were always based in India, Ekta has now chosen to make a story of two families who are settled abroad - Dubai to be precise. The protagonist are Aafrein (Priya Bathija)- a simple but strong minded girl, and Kabir Khan ( Sumeet Sachdeva)- a rich ideal boy. The poor girl meets rich boy, fall in love and never live happily thereafter.

So, what is new? Is the story any different from the scores of Balaji shows on and off air right now, one is compelled to ask. " It's a family drama, and has all the requisite ingredients, " elaborates the handsome lead of the serial, Sumeet. " I have a romantic interest in the show", he continues. " It will have everything that any other show has, the only thing that is different is that it is shot in Dubai."

Is the role different from Gautam of Kyunki? " Gautam has been an intense character, and has played all shades, ranging from good to bad. Kabir is a much more mellow character, one who is always in control, does not rise to aggravation easily," explains the actor.

How has it been working with the new lead - Priya? "It's been nice. We have many newcomers, and a lot of energy on the sets. In fact I have just come back from Dubai and we shot there extensively", gushes the versatile actor. " We had gala time shooting with many middle eastern artists, and it was an enriching experience."

Will the serial touch a chord? Only time will tell. Right now the notes of optimism are hard to miss. Understandably, the frames are going to be glossier, the costumes gaudier ( if that is possible given the shine and sparkles of all the existing Balaji serial costumes), and the drama, heavier.

Ekta promises Prachi her own chat show and a film

Prachi Desai aka Bani of Kasamh Se is undoubtedly Ekta Kapoor’s blue-eyed girl. Ekta not only takes Prachi to special events in the industry, but when Prachi cribbed about playing mommy on screen at the age of 18, Ekta, promised her a chat show of her own. The planning of this new show is going on and is under wraps. Prachi is very excited about this. “Things are too pre-mature to be spoken about now, so you have to wait,” she smiles. “I am happy with Kasamh Se but I also want to do other things,” says Prachi who according to rumours has been offered a lead role in a romantic comedy film produced by Ekta. The script of the film is being worked on currently. After the success of Shootout at Lokhandwala, Ekta plans to launch as many as five films and one of them will be with Prachi.

Ashwini aka Jigyasa back with the Kasamh Se unit

Ashwini Khalsekar who wowed everyone as the vampish Jigyasa in Kasamh Se had quit the show when it took a five-year leap claiming she didn’t want to play a granny. Then Jaya Bhattacharya replaced her but within few months, Ashwini is back in this Balaji show. Ashwini explains, “I am glad about my comeback as I enjoyed playing Jigyasa and had worked hard on the character. I missed being part of the show when I wasn’t doing it.” She refuses to reveal why she had quit in the first place. “There was no problem with Ekta or anyone else. I got along well with my co-stars on the show who were happy to see me back.”

But she also never had problems with her replacement Jaya. “Jaya is a friend and she in fact called me up when she replaced me and I did ditto when I replaced her. There is no ill feeling about any of this. I did wonder how the audiences would react to my return as people really appreciated my character last year. I even got an award -The Indian Telly Awards 2006 which is precious.” But Ashwini is very busy these days as she accepted Miditech’s serial Parivaar on Zee TV where she plays a tough lawyer. She accepted the role and later returned to Kasamh Se and now both the production companies are adjusting the dates among themselves without giving her headache. Ask her about marriage plans with her boyfriend with whom she lives in with and she replies, “Nothing is planned. You never know about tomorrow.”

Kyunki no one’s happy with Ram’s new look

After an extended wait thanks to the rains, Ram Kapoor finally made an entry in Kyunki yesterday (July 5). But in his first episode, he was nothing like the description given by the Creative Heads at the press meet. The so-called ‘new looking’ Ram had not lost too much weight and there was nothing flamboyant about him too. We asked some of the telly stars for their reaction to Ram’s entry.


Achint Kaur (Vedika, Virrudh)


“I’m not following Kyunki, but yesterday I had seen a little bit of Kyunki and I did not find anything novel about his new look. I felt that I was watching a horror movie. Don’t ask me such stupid questions. I don’t think his presence will make any difference.”





Mehul Kajeria (Rohit, Teen Bahuraniyaan)

I have left Kyunki so I don’t watch it but I happened to see yesterday’s episode unknowingly. I was not able to recognized that he was Ram. He was ok when I saw his snaps in the paper but on screen, he looked really bad. He looked too synthetic.




Roshni Chopra (Pia, Kasamh Se)

“It’s a totally different character from Mr.Walia, which he plays in Kasamh Se. He is loud and flamboyant in this. I was shocked to see him in his new avatar but at same time I was very impressed with his versatility.





Sharad Malhotra (Saagar, Banno Main...)

I have heard of Ram’s entry in Kyunki, but frankly speaking I don’t have time to watch my serial, then when will I watch other serials. I think the production house has unnecessarily hyped his entry. Kyunki is not my favorite serial anyways so I’m least bothered.

We also spoke to a couple of viewers for their feedback.

Sangita Pandya (Housewife, from Borivali) says, “I think Mr.Walia character suits him but not JR Thukral. I was very excited that Ram Kapoor will be entering Kyunki but I don’t think his presence will make any difference. His mansion was looking like that from a horror film. I think he should act in a Ramsay movie.

Vijaya Kaothalkar (a resident from Ujjain) adds, “I have lost interest in Kyunki after Smriti’s exit. These new characters are meaningless. His entry was total bakwas.”

Suman Singh (Food Technologist, Khana Khazhana) also expresses similar views. “He is a good actor no doubt but he was looking really bad yesterday. It was very irritating to see a cat in his hand and his velvet green jacket. I don’t think he will make any impact.”

Well, it’s obvious Ram’s new look did not impress too many people. Wonder what Ekta has up her sleeve now?

Although Ronit Roy is a very busy man doing three Balaji shows; Kyunki, Kasautii and Kasamh Se, he still does find time to show his love for mommy dear. Mrs. Roy ( Senior's ) birthday falls on the 16th of this month and Ronit is taking her out of the country for a few days.

He says" I always make it a point to spend some quality time with my family. Every morning, I also personally drop my daughter Aador to school everyday. Similarly whenever that elusive break does come my way, I try to spend it exclusively with my wifey dear and kids. And, at such times, the phone always remains switched off, so we can't be disturbed .

Friday night. And it was time to celebrate the birthday of television czarina Ekta Kapoor at her bungalow in Juhu, Krishna.
The invite urged guests to join her to 'Bond with the best, 007 style, for martinis and more'. Dress in black and red, the invite urged. The ambience truly resembled James Bond's neighbourhood.
Soon the venue was so chalka-block with glitterati that it took eternity to move from one corner to another.
(Ekta is known to make grand, and very fashionably late, entries in her own parties.)
Although Ekta's bash started at 11 pm, it did not really swing in full spirit until Ekta herself arrived, well after 1 am. She soon got busy with thrusting tequila shots down her guests' throats.

Vivek Oberoi, in high spirits as usual, was at his flirtatious best, hopping from one woman to another, praising 'God's outstanding creations'. He took a shine to the young Prachi Desai and was heard asking guests whether they had ever seen a woman as beautiful as her. Later, he burnt the dance floor with Ekta. Naman Shaw, Prachi Desai and Ekta made a constant threesome on the dance floor.

Meanwhile, outside a completelysozzled Ronit Roy abused Sanjay Gupta's driver and asked him to move Sanjay's Mercedes to make way for his car. When the driver told him the name of his employer, Ronit wondered, Sanjay who? He did not stay long and left the party early with wife Neelam.

Ekta Kapoor is planning to revive Balaji's old show Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. And the lead will be played by, no prizes for guessing, Prachi Desai. Aired two years ago, weekend thriller Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat was a series that dealt with subjects like murder, lies and betrayal, where relationships were not what they seemed to be. The new Kya Hadsaa… will continue to be a horror show, based on the supernatural. However, this time, it comes with a fresh plot.

Prachi is more than excited about the chance of doing a new show. Says Prachi, "I will play a positive character, and for a change I will play my age, and not a typical bahu. I will begin shooting from next week. I hope I will be able to do justice to my new role. I used to watch Kya Hadsaa… earlier and I do believe in supernatural powers. We will be shooting in and around Mumbai."

So how has she sketched her schedule, now that she has to devote time for two shows?

Prachi says, "Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat will be aired three days a week, whereas Kasamh Se is a daily. So Kya Hadsaa… will require lesser time to shoot compared to Kasamh Se. I don't think there will be a problem."

Prachi will be given a completely new get-up in the show. Now she will be seen wearing skirts and kurtis. Says Suraj Rao, the creative head of the show, "Unlike last time, which dealt with one story in one episode, the revived Kya Hadsaa… will run one story for more than twelve episodes. We have chosen Prachi to play the lead while the rest of the characters are being finalised. She plays a girl who gets into a bad marriage due to some flaw in her horoscope and then the thriller angle seeps into the plot."

Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat will be a half-an-hour show and will go on air in August.

He has the most horrendous hair at the moment, his current hairstyle is looking awful with the extra pounds he is carrying, making him look like a good old man rather than the romantic lead of the serial - so he needs to immediately chop some of his mane off along with a LOT of that fat of course.

When I am stressed, I always try to do something that makes me happy. If I am at home then, I try to rest, but if I am at work, I chat with my friends or eat chocolates. Working odd hours of the day and even late nights stresses me out.

Normally I try to keep tensions away, but whatever I may do at that point of time to get over some kind of pressure totally depends on my mood. I can’t always expect the production house I am shooting with, to give me leave. Even if I have something very important, like when I took my class 12 exams recently, I tried to balance work and study and the shuttle between Mumbai, where I was shooting, and Pune, where I was taking my exams. I don’t know how I managed to do it, but I guess there was no other option.

Walia Empire will be crushed by Bani

The notorious Bani Walia (played by Prachi Desai) in Kasamh Se is about to take revenge and destroy her newly acquired Walia household with the help Aparajit Deb (Ronit Roy).
In the previous episode, she managed to get hold of the entire Walia house under her command, after which she forced out the residing family in the Walia house including Pia (Roshni Chopra) who now has to live in the outhouse. She also insulted Jigyasa Bua (Ashwini Kalsekar) by telling her that now she has to prepare food for the entire house. Bani then invited Mr.Walia (Ram Kapoor) for a party at which she unveiled an unpleasant surprise for him.

Later on though she regrets doing so after she begins to realize how much she actually loves her husband.

Scriptwriter for the serial, Bobby Bhosale tells us, “Bani begins to behave like Goddess Durga, who takes revenge on those who have troubled her in the past. In the party scene of the serial, Mr.Walia will be shocked to find out that she has taken over and almost destroyed the Walia group of industry’s business. Bani gains happiness from her actions but will soon realize that she has just hurt the love of her life after her conscience speaks out to her, questioning these very actions. This realization will come into effect at the point when she is to marry Aparajit Deb.”

Bhosle adds, “Besides Bani’s upsetting deeds, her sister Rano is going to leave Ranveer after she finds out about the love triangle between Ranveer, Rano and Rashi. This in turn angers Ranveer to the extent of him behaving negatively especially toward Rashi, even turning violent and beating her up.”

Bobby Bhosale further stated that within the next two weeks, Bani will do something totally unexpected which will completely ruin Mr.Walia. This plot is set to become one of Kasamh Se’s biggest twists yet.

Ram Kapoor wins the best actor award for Kasamh Se in ITA and HHITA. By Alok Hisaria

Ram Kapoor made a name for himself playing the loyal brother in Balaji Telefilms’ Ghar Ek Mandir almost seven years back. Soon, he not only mesmerised the audience with his sweet Laxman-inspired character, but also met his future wife Gautami Gadgil on that very set. Those not familiar with Sony television’s old afternoon daily soap, Ghar Ek Mandir, and who have no knowledge about his other shows like Kabhie Aye Na Judai, must have definitely felt his presence in this year’s top Zee TV daily, Kasamh Se.

Ram Kapoor aka Jai Walia of Kasamh Se has been honoured the Best Actor for his flamboyant performance in the serial by both the Indian Telly Awards (ITA) and the Hero Honda Indian Television Award (HHITA). The actor, who has also trained in America, is finally getting his due. Hence it was surprising to know that the actor wasn’t celebrating. Instead, he was shooting and was completely immersed in his work. There was no party or outing to celebrate his recent twin-win at the two major television award shows.

“I feel good that finally my work has been appreciated. As a TV actor, the only source to know if you are liked by the audience or not are the TRPs. So, when you get an award or, like in my case, awards (laughs) you feel doubly blessed,” he said during his lunch break.

The new father can’t stop gushing about his few months’ baby daughter. “She is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. I think my life has completely taken a turn in a good way, the moment she entered this world. I tell people that she is my lucky charm,” he smiles.

It has been a long journey for Ram. Like every actor, he struggled from theatre to television to movies then to television again and now after so many years, he has been showered with the best actor trophies. But has all the limelight changed Ram Kapoor? Have the expectations pressurised him in any way? “Frankly, I have no expectations for myself. I am happy about what I am doing. As for the audience and my producers, as long as I am performing well they would adore me. You come to a stage in your life when all these things don’t matter any more. You just enjoy what you do and spend time with your family,” he reiterates. Viewers had rejected him in movies. He got limited success in bit roles in films like Monsoon Wedding and Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi and found no audience for Kal — Yesterday And Tomorrow. Ram is adamant that he will not return to movies again. “Jai Walia, the character I play has many shades. I feel connected to it. I can’t reveal what would happen in the story, but I can say that his life would soon shatter. Now, you tell me that I am getting huge reviews and awards for this character. So why in God’s name would I leave such a serial and opt for a small role in some pretentious movie.”

Q: How does it feel winning an award in your debut serial?
Hard work always pays. I got a great character to play in Kasamh Se. If people are appreciating it that means I am doing justice to the character.

Q: You lost out to Saloni (Rajshri Thakur) in the HHITA Awards. Sad?
Not at all. I am not at all sad about it nor do I feel I am a loser. Our show was a winner in HHITA Awards, too, as it got five awards. I was happy that I got the award for the Best Newcomer this year.

Q: Are your expectations higher now?
Personally, I cannot say anything. Everyone wants to work hard and move ahead in life. More than me the people’s expectations would have gone higher now. I would now have to concentrate on my work more than I did before.

Q: How are your parents feeling?
They are on top of the world. I can’t express their happiness in words.

Q: Would we see an even better Bani now on the screen?
It doesn’t get better after winning an award. It’s not that I worked any less hard before getting this award. I would definitely try to put more effort now. The award just gives you a much needed boost.

Q: Ekta Kapoor has an image of an exploitative dictator. But recently she showered her affection on you and flew to Tirupati with you.
Yes, it was very nice trip. I don’t know why people blame Ekta for being grumpy and a monster. She is an extremely nice woman. It was my first trip to Tirupati and she had given me an elaborate trip of the temple and the vicinity.

Q: So have you become her favourite bahu, surpassing Tulsi (Smriti Irani)?
(Laughs) May be. I am thankful to the audience as well as Ekta-ji for accepting me. It has been a bumpy ride but I have worked hard to be where I am.

Two months after she took over as Tulsi, is Gautami Kapoor glad with her choice of a comeback role? Roshni K Olivera finds out

Your portrayal of Tulsi is quite different from that of Smriti Iraani’s. Is it a conscious decision...
Not exactly a conscious decision. When I took on the role I’d said I will not ape anybody. I will take the character as it comes and as I see it. As a person, my body language and the way I talk is different from Smriti’s. I have not tried to act like her at all. Besides, it’s not like Smriti played Tulsi for two months, she did it for seven years. I can’t copy anybody. I preferred to start on a clean slate.

Do you think you are getting accepted slowly?
When I took it up I was completely ready for the flak and criticism. I’m open to criticism even now. I have a lot of growing up to do. I’m overwhelmed with the positive feedback. My mother, who has been watching
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for seven years now, loves what I’m doing. Ram saw an episode recently. He thought he’d just see a scene of mine, but he was amazed that he actually got hooked onto it. When I go out a lot of people come up to me and say we really like you. They are honest to tell me that initially they were waiting to see how I’d act. The reactions I’ve received are humbling.

How nervous were you initially, considering it’s a character that’s been around for long?
When I took up the role I had no clue it would hit me like this. I may have answered atleast 100 calls the day it was announced. I remember telling Ram about it who was in Turkey at the time and he told me not to get bogged down by the pressure. He said just do your job and enjoy it. I have been doing just that. I’m enjoying my work after my long break.
Along with your name there were other actresses’ names doing the rounds...
That did not really bother me because that’s how TV is and things here change everyday. I was glad that I was considered for this role.

Wouldn’t you have liked to make a comeback to TV in a younger role?
Not really. This is a huge opportunity for me in my career. All my co-actors and even those younger than me are playing roles far older than their current age. If I was given a role exactly my age, where is the challenge and where is the fun? I’ve always looked for something different. Had I said a no to this role just for the grey strands, it would have been a wrong decision. The graph this role has and the amount of shades it has... I couldn’t have asked for more for my comeback role.

But isn’t there worry that you’d be offered similar older characters now...
That doesn’t get me down. Who has seen the future? I’m happy the way things are shaping. This was so unplanned. I really don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. I completely trust my gut and my potential.

There was buzz that it was Ram who convinced Ekta Kapoor to give you the role?
That was the funniest and the most bizarre thing we heard. Why would Ram do something like that? I have my body of work to support me enough. Secondly why would a person like Ekta listen to somebody? She is very clear about her vision and her characters. Ram doesn’t have the time to breathe. And you think he’d stoop low and lobby for me? But we both understand rumours of this kind are part and parcel of the industry. So we just laugh it off.

Have you met Smriti Iraani?
I had met her years ago when she was working with Ram in Kavita. I have bumped into her at events.

What about talk that Smriti may be brought back in the show? What happens to you in that case?

Wow... I love it! I’m very proud he’s considered hot because he is hot. He is not only hot in the way he looks, but also in his attitude and temperament. All of it together make him so attractive.

How are the two of you as a couple? Are you very different from each other?
We are made for each other. I think you should also ask Ram about it! Both of us are extroverts, warm and friendly. Ram and I are not stuck-up. He is more quiet and chilled out. I’m hyper, jumping from one place to the other, doing things fast. He’s very organised, meticulous. I tend to forget, I’m a scatterbrain! But I’m very particular when it comes to our daughter.

“First and foremost she needs to be down to earth. I can’t deal with people – not just girls – who throw tantrums or have an attitude problem. I’d like my partner to be sweet and good looking but all in all a nice girl,” says Shaw.

Naman says he finds a lot of himself in his character Pushkar. “I most closely resemble Pushkar in real life. In Kyunki…I play this angry young guy and in real life I’m never really angry. You know simple, straight forward, happy go lucky, works hard…that’s how I am.”

You might find this surprising but I haven’t had one yet… I’m still to get in a relationship. Innocent and childlike Prachi Desai is being paired with choreographer Deepak Singh. "I'm very fond of dancing and hope people will love watching me in this new avataar," says Prachi.

Ekta's blue-eyed boy, Ronit Roy will be shaking a leg with choreographer Nicole Alvaris. This will be his first dance competition on television. "Though, I am busy with two dailies Kyunki and Kasamh Se, I am very excited to be a part of this show. It's something different from what I've done before. I've started my practise sessions. I will be required to give only two days a week," utters Ronit.

Too much on Prachi’s plate. How’s she managing?

Prachi Desai is heavily loaded with work these days as she is shooting for three shows daily - Kasamh Se, Koi Janne Naa and the dance show Jhalak Dikhlaja. So how does she manage her hectic schedule?

“Yes it has been really tough,” she nods in agreement. “I have been working with the Kasamh Se crew for the last 2 years so I am pretty comfortable with them but when I’m really stressed they change the shoot timings. Of course they can’t do it every day.”

Speaking about Jhalak… she says, “I have never danced in western styles like Salsa, Samba but my choreographer Deepak is teaching me very nicely.”

How do you distress yourself? “When I’m not needed for a particular scene, I relax and listen to some music. At times, I take a nap in my vanity van or chat with my co-actors.”

Her chaotic work timings have also meant that she hasn’t attended a single lecture in college. “I’m not able to concentrate on my studies but I can’t help it. I hope by the end of this year I will attend college,” a hopeful Prachi adds.

Prachi’s mother also feels that her daughter is working a bit too hard. “Her day starts at 8:30 am and then at 10 am she goes for Jhalak practice which stretches up to 2 pm. In the afternoon she shoots for Kasamh Se and Koi Jaane Naa which lasts till late night,” says her mother, describing Prachi’s busy schedule.

“She gets nervous and tense at times but after sometime she becomes normal,” says Prachi’s mother, who is full of praise for her. “She is not a good dancer but is trying her best for Jhalak… Her leg injury gets aggravated sometimes but full marks to her for hard work.”

Here’s hoping Prachi manages her work in the same manner in the future too!

Pia, aka Roshni Chopra, has had enough. Roshni, who tasted popularity with her stint in Balaji Telefilms' Kasamh Se has now decided to get out of the show.

Roshni plays the role of Pia, one of the prime characters, in the show. Although, the show started off as the story of three sisters, the focus has always been on Prachi Desai who plays Bani. Of late, there have been stories of them having a cold war too on the issue of screen space.

But as things stand now, Roshni is really not bothered about her share of screen space. Apparently, now she wants to get out of Kasamh Se and wants to conquer newer horizons. The actress has been inundated with film offers. After doing a cameo in Pavan Kaul's upcoming movie Bhram, where she plays Dino Morea's girlfriend, she wants to try her luck with films.

According to one of Roshni's close friend, "Roshni acknowledges that Kasamh Se gave her career the initial thrust. So, she doesn't want to ditch Balaji without giving them ample notice. She also has devised a good plan for it. She wants her character to slowly fade away with each passing episode. In this way, the viewers will not get a shock when her character is finally out of the show. This is a strategy to make her task a bit easier. She is trying to work it out with the production house."

Roshni is shooting 25 days a month for Kasamh Se. Besides that, she is also hosting a film-based show Cinemascope on Zee Music. She hardly has any time for other projects so she has decided to quit the show gradually.

When Ekta Kapoor throws a party, every one makes it a point to be there. The address was new, but the party's high-spirits was in keeping with all the previous party's thrown by Ms Kapoor. The entire industry made its presence felt at Ekta's new house at Juhu. The pink-themed bash, which started well after midnight, was a celebration for three reasons - Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii will soon be seven years old, Kasautii Zindagi Kay has completed six years and Ekta's blue-eyed girl Prachi Desai's post-birthday bash.

Surprisingly, Ekta's filmy gang comprising Anurag Basu, Apoorva Lakhia, Sanjay Gupta and Urmila Matondkar were absent.

A lot of Balaji loyalists like Smriti Irani, Shweta Tiwari, Aamna Shariff, Iqbal Khan, Ram and Gautami Kapoor were also not present at the party. Rajeev Paul came without his better half Delnaaz.

The party gave a great chance to Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Nach Baliye contestants who got to practise their dance steps while having a great time.

Karan Patel's partner, Amita Chandelkar was seen practising her steps for Nach Baliye 3 in front of the washroom. On the dance floor, she was again seen shaking a leg with Vikas Sethi's wife, Amita.

Jhalak… participants Prachi Desai and Ronit Roy were only too excited to meet each other at the gate.

Jay Bhanushali and Prachi were quite exhausted as they came for the party after attending Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's launch party. Although one of the reasons for the bash was to celebrate Prachi's birthday, she was not her usual energetic self. A case of too much partying, Prachi?

Ronit was seen (as usual) with his bag. He left early with wife Neelam, who is pregnant. Ronit's chote bhai Rohit promptly followed him along with wife Mansi.

Manav Gohil and wife Shweta, actress Neelam Kothari, Bunty Walia, Suniel Shetty and wife Mana also left the party early. Cezanne Khan preferred to hang out with the boys.

Poonam Narula, Anuj Saxena and Suvarna Jha were busy competing with each other for the worst-dressed crown. Saakshi Tanwar is still under her on screen character, Parvati's influence. She was wearing a pink salwar kameeze. (But she did follow the party's theme!).

Eijaz Khan was also trying hard to stay away from the crowd.

Although Aman Varma was there at the party after his patch-up with Ekta, he looked quite uncomfortable. A tipsy Salil Ankola was wearing a pink shirt. Roshni Chopra too had a rocking time while her husband Siddharth Anand was busy taking care of her.

Of all the guests, Chetan Hansraj was one actor who took the party's pink theme quite seriously. He was busy asking people why they did not follow the theme. Indian Idol participant cum actor Amit Tandon was his usual self. He was busy showing off his tattoos and biceps!

Narayani Shastri and Gaurav Chopra came together and kept everyone guessing about their relationship's status.

Reeva Bubbar's boyfriend Ken Ghosh was seen chatting with Gauri Pradhan and Amita Chandelkar.

Ekta was seen with tequila-filled syringes, which she good-naturedly forced all the guests to have. Naman Shaw was her partner in crime.

She also dedicated songs for her close friends. She made star couple Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan burn the dance floor with their moves.

Suvarna Jha (Trupti in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) was dancing with Ashlesha Sawant (Tara in Saat Phere). Ashlesha's on and off boyfriend Sandeep Baswana was seen spitting everywhere. (We are still to figure out if it was water or alcohol!)

In no time, the party got really hot and even the air conditioner couldn't help cool down the atmosphere. The party went on till the wee hours…

Looks like Kasamh se needs more than one vamps to scare the audience and to keep their interest in the show. Jigyasa a women who just wants money ,lives for it and if in process anyone comes in between, then God help the person, be it her own brother or sister-in- law, she does not care, she is ready to walk over them to get what she wants.. So is Pia whose infatuation and craze have lead to betray her own sister, who looked after her when their parents died…both are life of Kasam Se as much as Jai and Bani . Imagine watching Kasamh se without any problem in Jai and Bani’s life ? Usually movie ends with the tag line “Lived happily Ever After” but on television it means curtains to the show and why would the channel and Balaji end one of the most successful show of recent time !So the tigress named Pia is coming out of her paralysis to play with Jai – Bani’s lives again..maybe she was never a paralytic…we just have to wait and watch! As predicting anything about the story of soaps are like trying to grab the sand in your fist.....!

Kasamh Se! Joydeep, Bhoomi in item number

Manav Vij and Reshmii Ghosh, who play Joydeep and Bhoomi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi respectively, will be seen doing an item number in Kasamh Se.




The episode will be aired in the next couple of days.
Vikas, Creative Head of the show, reveals,” The sequence is such that Nachiket is getting married and, during the wedding ceremony, Joydeep and Bhoomi are going to perform an item number.”

A source gives us more information on the matter. “They are going to perform on the famous kajra re kajra re from Bunty Aur Bubbly. They shot for the song on Tuesday. It took some time to shoot because they rejected the choreographer’s first idea. Moreover, Manav was suffering from fever and earlier had conjunctivitis but he stayed on and finished off the shooting. The atmosphere on the sets was very enthusiastic.”

Prachi Desai wary of sore eyes

Prachi Desai, who is a part of Jhalak Dikhlaja, is quite worried these days with sore eyes spreading all over Mumbai. She has become possessive about her eyes and overall health.

Says Prachi, “I’m not scared but as an actresses I have to take precaution. Whenever I feel any kind of irritation in my eyes I apply drops. Being the Kasamh Se lead and doing Jhalak too, I have to take extra care.”

Her mother Anita adds, “She is a bit stressed as the sore eyes problem is spreading very rapidly in Mumbai. I’m just worried as anything can happen. I advice her not to go to crowded places like malls and just hope that God will protect her.”

If the recently concluded Gold Awards had Mandira Bedi and Aman Verma to do the talking, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Global Indian Television Honours will see host-with-the-most Karan Johar taking to the mike. Ekta and mommy Shobha Kapoor, who are working at a break-neck speed for their first ever awards gala, has already roped in a few prominent names.

The story goes that Shobha Kapoor has already spoken to Karan and he has given his consent to the assignment. However, Ekta remains tight-lipped about her prized host and dost. A source from Balaji Telfilms says, “Karan has always been our first choice as the host. He has agreed in principle to be a part of our show.”

Roping in Karan wasn’t a Herculean task, as Ekta and the filmmaker have known each other for years. She also made an appearance on Koffee with Karan in the second season, along with a bunch of actors from the Balaji stable. A source close to Ekta says, “It didn’t come as a surprise as Karan and Ekta are fond of each other. When Shobha aunty spoke to him he immediately agreed. We are yet to finalise the segments that he will be hosting.”

If sources are to be believed Ekta also intends to felicitate Karan for his tremendous contribution in films and television. Apparently, Karan’s works will be showcased during a special segment at the awards gala, which will be unveiled in December in Dubai. A reliable source informs, “Like most award galas, Balaji Global Indian Television Honours too, boasts of a bunch of special awards and felicitations. Karan is definitely one of them.”

When contacted, Ekta Kapoor refused to divulge any details. “No comments,” is all that she said.

Ronit Roy collapsed on the sets of Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Monday, while shooting for the third episode which will be telecast today. Roy had to lift his dance partner Nicole, and in doing so, he fell on the ground.

The 40-plus actor has been preparing with great gusto for the dance show. In his bid to get a move right, the actor ended up straining himself so much that he fainted. The shooting had to be stopped for some time. Later, Ronit had also to shoot for the promos, for which he managed to barely pose.

Says an eye-witness, "We were very worried when Ronit fainted. He was breathing very heavily and his pulse was racing. We have a doctor on the set, who attended to him. Thereafter, he was made to lie on the sofa for an hour. Amita Basu (producer Siddharth Basu's wife) tended to him."

"Lifting Nicole was not easy. Ronit is a terrific dancer. His commitment is great. It got a bit too much that day, he needs to take it a bit easy," the source adds.

When contacted, Roy says that he had developed stomach cramps. "I was breathing heavily. The doctor checked my blood pressure. But luckily, everything was normal. It took me some time to regain normalcy and I just about managed to shoot for the promos," he said.

"I hadn't eaten anything since morning. If you want to give 100 per cent to your dance, you can't do so with a heavy stomach. When my turn came to perform, it was 5.30 p.m. I guess dancing on an empty stomach took its toll. I don't know why but I was also feeling a bit dehydrated that day," he concludes, but not before adding, "It's okay. Such things happen. I am fine now and raring to go for the fourth episode. No pain, no gain."

Ashwini Kalsekar aka Jigyasa of Kasamh Se is no longer shooting for the show. The actress is extremely unwell and has been confined to bed of late.

For the past few days, she could not attend the shoot. However, the shoot is going on full swing and Jigyasa's track is very significant at the moment. Hence, she had been shooting 24/7.

Says a source close to Ashwini, "She was just unable to take the pressure anymore and fell seriously ill on Friday evening. We were shooting at Goregaon when we had to call up the channel. The people at Balaji took her to the doctor for a check up. Her boyfriend Murli Sharma accompanied her to the doctor."

Ashwini we hear is born with a single kidney, and is not supposed to take too much stress. But her work schedule is dotted with daily soaps which does not warrant a stress-free life at all. Needless to say, her doctor has instructed her to take bed rest. Last Friday, the Kasamh Se team was supposed to go for a promotional event in Ahmedabad. Ashwini couldn't go as her boyfriend Murli requested the channel to go ahead with the promotion without her.

When we called up Ashwini, Murli took the call on her behalf. "She is very sick and has been on bed rest for the past one week. She won't be able to take the call. We have informed Balaji Telefilms and the channel about her illness. They were extremely co-operative. Ashwini won't be shooting until she recovers completely," he said

‘Kasamh Se’ was one of the first soaps that turned around ZEE TV’s fortunes over two years ago, after competition from STAR Plus’ shows ‘Kyunki Saans…’ and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. To date, ‘Kasamh Se’ remains one of the most watched soaps on Indian television.

Roshni Chopra aka Pia of Kasamh Se has finally said goodbye to the show. The actress says that she is simply bored with the saas-bahu drama, and wants to do something different.

Although Roshni started off as a television actress, she has been inundated with film offers. After doing a cameo in Pavan Kaul's upcoming movie Bhram, where she plays Dino Morea's girlfriend, she has caught the eye of other filmmakers.

A close friend of Roshni, says, “Roshni acknowledges that Kasamh Se made her what she is today. She did not want to ditch Balaji and told them well in advance that she would be leaving soon. Accordingly, her character was allowed to slowly fade away so that viewers don't get a shock. She discussed it with Ekta Kapoor in detail.”

When contacted, Roshni said, diplomatically, “I have taken a break from Kasamh Se. I have been doing Kasamh Se for the last two years and I won't deny that I owe a lot to the show. But now I want to do something new in life,” she said.

What did Ekta have to say about her decision to quit? “I am very busy with a lot of projects right now. I had a long chat with Ekta over this issue, and she did not have any problem,” she replied.

Roshni is busy doing riyaaz these days to prepare for Jjhoom India, a show that she is evidently looking forward to. She says, “I have been practising singing all the time.” Needless to say, Roshni's exit is a big blow to Kasamh Se, especially since lead actress Prachi is also quite busy with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
