How did you enter the TV world?

I started by doing shows for the serial Bombay Talking, in September 2005. I also did some Press campaigns. Later, I gave some auditions and got selected.

What are your current projects on television?
Currently, I am handling only one project - Left Right Left.

What character do you play in Left Right Left?
I play the character of Naina, a very strong and determined girl. Naina hails from a village. The story is about how she comes to town for further studies and later goes through many ups and downs in life.

Can you tell us something about your hobbies?
I like listening to music. I love acting and direction too. Other than these, I love shopping.

Your happiest moment so far is…
Well, I don’t really have any moment that I could term happiest. But I could say that I was very excited when I signed the contract for Bombay Talking.

What kind of roles would you prefer to play?
I haven’t thought of any particular role, as of now. I believe that an actress should be able to perform any role and not only concentrate on one.

What are your future projects?
I haven’t signed any more contracts as I want to concentrate on only on my present project. I have given my dates for Left Right Left. Later, when I am through with this project, I’ll plan something else.

Similar to that of her reel image in Bombay Talking this pretty lass likes to lead a luxurious life in real life too. In a free wheeling conversation with Sameera Kapoor , this lovely girl talks about her spending habit and the importance of financial insurance.

"I am still to earn the kind of income which my. colleagues enjoy".
How planned is your life financially?
I have entrusted that job to my father, this ensures that whatever I earn is in safe hands and will be looked after with utmost care.

What kind of investments have you done till date?
As I am quite new to the industry, I am still to earn the kind of income which my senior colleagues enjoy. In addition to this the little that I earn gets spent on my day to day needs, so hardly anything is left to be invested.

So, don't you think that it is essential and wise to save something for future?
Certainly, but for that I should have enough capital in reserve. An income which will look after my daily needs and a bit of which could be reserved as well.

Where does most of your income go?
I am a huge shopaholic. I go once in week to shop for clothes, shoes, jewellery especially ear rings and antic pieces. As I am not brand conscious, I have a lot of variety to choose from. So I end up spending a lot.


"I am not into diamonds..."
Approximately how much do you spend on yourself, by the end of the month?
I spend anything between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per month.

What's your take on insurance policies?
Its absolutely essential and everyone should get themselves insured financially. You never know when it might come in handy.

What vehicle do you own?
I own a Santro Xing.

Anything else which you are very particular about when it comes to your finances?
Although I am quite impulsive while shopping, but I make it a point to plan as to what should I shop for.So my impulsiveness is restricted to the stuff that i buy.

How much money do you carry everyday?
I am quite weary about carrying large amount of cash on shoot for the fear of being robbed thus I leave them with my driver for safekeeping. Otherwise I carry in my wallet about Rs.500.

What was the costliest thing that bought with your first pay cheque?
Well, I guess that should be a dress which cost me Rs.6500/-.

What about investing in diamonds?
No, I am not into diamonds. Its good to receive them as a gift but seeing it as an investment is not a good idea. Diamonds are high on maintainence.

They both were in the same school n going by the article they seem to be very good friends ....its a huge article with both remembering old times......it makes up for a good reading.....something not to be missed if u r a Priyanka Bassi fan like me

Also there is a small pic with the entire star cast of LRL....n in that pic rajveer n ritu mishra r standing together....a lil away from them huda n naina r standing together...thoda aur aage jaayenge toh we even have pooja sitting down n ali standing next to her n then u have aalekh in one corner standing all alone n yudi in another

I think this poster or pic of LRL...clearly indicates the pairing on the show....its gotta be huda n naina for sure n not naina n rajveer.....n I am extremely happy abt it.

Does any body knows that Naina a.k.a Priyanks Baasi was approached for the Role of Tia in remix before Shweta Gulati but Priyanka refused it because she had some commitments.After that she was again offered another role but she did'nt accepted it coz she did'nt wanted to do a show which was already on air.

Left Right Left on SAB TV is completing one year and Priyanka ‘Naina’ Bassi is mighty kicked about it. Here’s why………

Q. Left Right Left is turning one; how does that feel?
A. It is a great feeling and I love playing my character.Iam that Iam associated with LRL and really thankful to Tony and Deeya Singh for coming up with like this.The concept is new and the characters all so well etched out.The show has a brilliant concept,filled with youthfulness and it has created its niche.

Q. Did you anticipate the kind of response it is getting now?
A. There was a bit of nervousness initially,but there was always a feeling inside me that it would do well.What is even better is that the older generation is identifying with it.It feels great when grandparents come up to and say they want grandchild like Naina.

Q. Do you identify with the character?
A. I do, except for the fact that Priyanka is not as physically strong as Naina. Naina also has many shades and is vulnerable.Otherwise we are quite similar.

Q. How has your journey been?
A. It has been a brilliant journey so far. I have good co-stars and its been a good learning experience.

Q. Any particular incident that you recall?
A. I remember the sequence when I had to hang upside down from a tree and do the shots. It took around five hours for the sequence to be completed. It was tough,but I took it as a challenge. Blood had rushed to my head and I had to take leave the next day.

Q. How comfortable are you playing an army girl?
A. Playing Naina has become a part of life now,but Naina being an army girl it is a little tough for me. I was a girl who used to think so much about her skin and the way she carries herself,but now Iam no longer like that.You will always find me with cuts and bruises and a tanned skin.But I really like playing my character.

Q. How is your rapport with your co-stars?
A. Since we are all young,we have a very good rapport among us.There is always something or the other happeningon the sets.I’m happy that I have got to work with such great people…I’m missing Shveta(Salve) a lot.She is such a good actress and used to give me tips on acting all the time.

Q. How long is it going to take you to solve all the mysteries?
A. (Laughs) I really do not know what is going to happen and how long it is going to take.But that is keeping the show going.

Q. Have you received any other offers?
A. I have received a lot of offers,but Naina is keeping me going and excited,so Iam not signing anything as of now.

Q. You have been linked with your co-stars.Do you think people are misinterpreting your friendly nature?
A. (Laughs) Yes,it is true that I have been linked with my co-stars.Initially I was shocked to read those articles.I was worried that my parents would question me.But then,I had a talk with and they have also understood that it is part and parcel of the game.Any young,pretty girl working in the industry without men around her will have people writing about her.I’m lucky that I have such good co-stars as friends.I have learned to laugh at such matters.
